Product Overview
This document provides instructions for the La Crosse Technology Atomic Digital Clock, model 513-1211/513-1211A. It covers setup, operation, maintenance, and support information.
Clock Description
Front View
The front view displays the time in a large digital format, including AM/PM indicator. Above the time, indicators for 'Time + Alarm' and 'Time Zone' are present. A 'DST' (Daylight Saving Time) indicator may appear. Below the time, the date (Month, Day, Year), day of the week, and indoor temperature are shown.
Back View
The back view features a foldout leg stand for positioning the clock. A time zone selector bar allows selection of different time zones. The battery compartment, requiring 3 'AA' batteries, is also located on the back.
Buttons
The front panel includes several buttons for operation: SET, WAVE/+, DST/-, °C/°F, and SNOOZE.
Getting Started
- Use the time zone selector on the back to choose your time zone.
- Insert 3 new AA batteries (not included) into the clock, observing correct polarity.
Restart Procedure: If no indoor temperature data is displayed after 60 seconds, remove batteries, press any button 20 times, wait 5 minutes, and then return to Step 1.
Setting Time, Date, and Temperature
- Hold the SET button to enter time set mode.
- Press the WAVE/+ or DST/- buttons to adjust values.
- Press the SET button to confirm and move to the next item.
The time set order is: 12/24 hour format, Hour, Minutes, Year, Month, Date.
Press SET to exit, or wait 20 seconds for automatic return to normal display.
Daylight Saving Time Setting
Hold the DST button for 3 seconds to toggle DST on or off. The 'DST' icon will appear when DST is active.
Time Zone Selection
Slide the time zone selector bar on the back of the clock to choose your area's time zone. Options include:

Fahrenheit/Celsius Selection
Hold the °C/°F button for 3 seconds to select Fahrenheit (℉) or Celsius (℃) temperature readings.
Setting Time Alarm
Press the SET button once to enter Alarm Mode (indicated by 'AL').
- Hold the SET button for 3 seconds to enter alarm time set mode.
- Press the WAVE/+ or DST/- buttons to adjust values.
- Press the SET button to confirm and move to the next item.
Alarm time setting order: Hours, Minutes.
Activate/Deactivate Time Alarm
Press the SET button once to view alarm time. Press the WAVE/+ or DST/- buttons to activate the alarm. The bell icon ? appears when activated. Press WAVE/+ or DST/- again to deactivate; the bell icon will disappear.
Snooze Function
When the alarm sounds, press the SNOOZE button to silence it for 5 minutes. The alarm icon will flash. In snooze mode, any button press will stop the alarm for the day. The alarm will sound for 2 minutes before shutting off automatically.

Manual WWVB Radio-Controlled (Atomic) Time Search
Press the WAVE/+ button to start or stop a manual signal search. The WWVB ? icon will flash during searching.

Atomic Signal Search: The clock searches every 2 hours for the WWVB signal. After reception, it searches only after midnight.
Atomic Clock Care and Maintenance
- Do not mix old and new batteries.
- Do not mix Alkaline, Standard, Lithium, or Rechargeable Batteries.
- Always purchase the correct size and grade of battery for intended use.
- Replace all batteries in a set at the same time.
- Clean battery contacts and device contacts before installation.
- Ensure batteries are installed with correct polarity (+ and -).
- Remove batteries from equipment not used for extended periods.
- Remove expired batteries promptly.
