*Important: It is essential to insert the cartridges up to the mark for a correct connection.

Compatible Cartridges: CDB stations work with T245 soldering irons and C245 cartridges. Find the model that best suits your soldering needs at www.jbctools.com

Operation

The most efficient soldering system from JBC. This revolutionary technology can recover tip temperature extremely quickly. This allows the user to work at a lower temperature and, as a result, the tip life is extended up to 5 times longer.

  1. Work: When you lift the soldering iron from the stand, the tip heats up to the selected temperature.
  2. Sleep (stand by): When the soldering iron is in the stand, the temperature drops to the preset sleep temperature.
  3. Hibernation: After long periods of inactivity, the power is cut off and the soldering iron cools to ambient temperature.

Tool Configuration: Operating Temperature

Select the temperature between 90 and 450 °C using:

Tool Configuration: Temperature Levels

Press Menu, select Tool Settings and activate the Temp. Levels option. Use Up/Down Arrows (± 5 °C steps).

Tool Configuration: Sleep (stand by - sleep)

Change the sleep temperature and select the delay time to enter sleep mode between 0 and 9 minutes or no delay (no sleep).

Tool Configuration: Hibernation

Change the delay to enter hibernation from 0 to 60 minutes or no hibernation.

Parameters

Be careful when using these parameters, as they can reduce tip life if not used correctly. Follow the recommended guidelines:

Station Configuration

Parameter Description Recommendations Warnings
Temperature Unit
Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F)
N/a N/a
Maximum Temperature
Set the maximum temperature to work with. Default is 400°C / 750°F. It is considered high enough to work with most lead-free applications.
The station temperature range is 90-450°C (190-840°F). Change temperature limits when working with less common applications, such as low/high melting point solder (HMP) or plastics (e.g., riveting). ⚠️ In most cases, working with temperatures above 400°C / 750°F can damage the PCB and its components. Even in brief contact periods (tip to solder joint), the flux may not work correctly and could seriously reduce tip life. If the solder joint requires more power (e.g., multilayer or high dissipation boards), JBC recommends using other aids such as preheaters.
Minimum Temperature
Set the minimum temperature to work with. Default is 200°C / 392°F. It is considered a suitable starting point for leaded applications.
N/a N/a
Metronome
This activates a beep sound. Frequencies vary from 1 to 50 seconds.
Useful for setting a rhythm in repetitive jobs. The beep allows you to know the time the tip should be in contact with the solder joint. N/a
Beep Sound
Activate/deactivate the keyboard sound.
N/a N/a
PIN
Enable/disable PIN request.
If enabled, the PIN must be entered each time a parameter is changed. N/a
Change PIN
To change the default PIN (0105).
N/a N/a

Tool Configuration

Parameter Description Recommendations Warnings
Set a Temperature
Set a value within the station's temperature range (90-450 °C).
Ideal for soldering more than one component at a specific temperature. The station will reject any attempt to change the temperature. N/a
Set Temperature Levels
Similar to the “Set a Temperature” parameter. In this case, the user can configure up to 3 values for different power requirements.
This allows for quick switching between 3 different temperatures. Adjust them according to the permitted values for your soldering applications. N/a
Sleep Delay (stand by - sleep)
Set the time the soldering iron will remain at the selected temperature when in the stand before entering sleep mode. The tip temperature will drop to the sleep temperature.
Because JBC soldering irons reach working temperature from sleep mode in just a few seconds, this parameter is preset to 0 min. Once the soldering iron is returned to the stand, the temperature automatically drops to the sleep temperature, prolonging tip life and preventing oxidation. Tinning the tip before placing the soldering iron in the stand will protect the tip and prolong its life. ⚠️ Setting these parameters to very high values will unnecessarily accelerate oxidation and shorten tip life, especially when working with temperatures up to 450 °C.
Sleep Temperature
This is the maximum temperature the tip reaches when placed in the stand and enters sleep mode.
The sleep temperature is set to achieve a balance between preventing oxidation and reaching working temperature in a few seconds. N/a
Hibernation Delay
Set the time the soldering iron will remain at the sleep temperature before entering hibernation mode. At this point, the power supply is cut off and the tip remains at ambient temperature.
This function completely protects the tip from oxidation during long periods of inactivity while the soldering iron is in the stand. Tinning the tip before placing the soldering iron in the stand also helps prevent oxidation and prolongs tip life. ⚠️ Increasing the default value will accelerate oxidation and shorten tip life.
Temperature Adjustment
Provides a more precise adjustment between the selected and actual temperature.
Set values within ±50 °C to achieve zero error. JBC recommends using TID or TIA thermometers to obtain accurate readings. ⚠️ When the user changes the cartridge type, the parameter must be reset to 0 °C or the necessary value for that cartridge. For example, if a +20 °C correction is set for a thick cartridge and then the user switches to a thinner one without resetting the temperature adjustment, they would be working at a higher temperature than necessary for this thinner cartridge, which does not require any temperature adjustment.
