OG T-Sport Fairing Kit Installation
Installation Guide Version 1.1
Preparation and Initial Steps
- Remove stock headlight visor and headlight assembly. Refer to the service manual if necessary. Before unplugging the stock headlight, it is recommended to remove the master fuse located under the left side cover. Retain all stock hardware for later use.
- Loosen the handlebar riser bolts under the upper triple tree to create enough space to slide the upper fairing mount under the washer.
- Install the upper fairing mount. It does not need to be fully slid in, but it must be tightened where the stock washers make full contact on the upper bracket. This can be adjusted to provide more lean to the fairing or more clearance for accessories. Torque the stock riser bolts to 30-40 ft-lbs.
- Install the supplied headlight bracket kit under the lower triple tree and the lower fairing bracket on top of it, using the supplied hardware. Hand-tighten securely.
Fairing Shell and Headlight Installation
- Install the fairing shell onto the lower and upper fairing mounts using the supplied 1/4-20 hex bolts (4x), locknuts (4x), and washers (8x). The fairing shell brackets (left and right) should be placed on the inside of the upper and lower fairing mounts. Insert the nut facing the rear of the bike. Be careful not to hit the tank with your key or ratchet while tightening. Recommended Torque: 15 ft-lbs. Note: The inner fairing brackets are already tight onto the fairing shell; do not re-torque them.
- Install and plug in the new 5.75" LED Headlight into the supplied 5.75" Headlight bucket. Install the headlight bucket onto the round headlight conversion lower bracket using the supplied 3/8-16 hex bolt, washers (2x), and lock nut. Recommended Torque: 15 ft-lbs.
- Ensure the headlight bucket is positioned so it does not contact the fairing shell, as this can cause vibration while riding.
- Install the pre-assembled T-Sport Fairing Billet Windshield Arms (2x) onto the inner fairing brackets using the supplied 1/4-20 hex bolts (4x), locknuts (4x), and washers (8x). Install them loosely to allow for adjustment when installing the windshield.
- Insert the larger rubber grommets (2x) into the lower windshield mounting holes and the Rubber-Coated Brass Insulating Rivet Nuts (2x) into the fairing shell lower windshield mounting holes.
Windshield Mounting and Final Tightening
- Using blue threadlocker, pre-install the upper windshield hardware through the windshield, securing it with the supplied rubber washers on the back of the shield.
- Install the windscreen using the supplied hardware. Begin by threading the lower 2x 10-32 x 1 ¼” long Flat Head Cap Screws into the bottom two holes. Use the anti-buffeting spacers between the windshield and fairing shell (trim to desired height if needed for better riding experience). Once the bottom is attached, align the upper arm with the top windshield holes and thread in both 1/4-20 flat head screws with the loose billet arms. Do not fully tighten yet; some play is needed to adjust the windscreen correctly.
- When satisfied with the windshield position, hand-tighten the bottom 2x 10-32 screws until fully threaded against the black Nylon countersunk washers. Using a torque wrench, tighten the top 2x 1¼-20 screws to a maximum of 12-15 in-lbs. Ensure the windscreen is securely fastened but avoid overtightening, which can cause premature cracking.
- Once the windscreen is installed, tighten the 2x Billet arms assembly to the recommended torque of 15 ft-lbs.
- Wait approximately 24 hours for the threadlocker to dry before riding. Enjoy your new T-Sport Fairing Kit!
Notes and Recommendations
- The headlight vertical position and windshield angle can be adjusted at any time to improve lighting and comfort. For dark smoke screens, a simple polish can help remove minor scratches after extended use.
- For proper installation on older Dyna models with top tree-mounted headlights, it is recommended to use the provided headlight bracket hole pattern to drill the lower tree. Then, use the 5.75" Headlight bucket (or any standard 5.75" ear-mount headlight bucket) to install the headlight onto the lower tree. This same hole can be used to mount the lower fairing bracket.
- Some images in this guide are from the Softail Fatbob kit and show an M8 Softail motorcycle. The primary differences between the kits are the headlight bracket and lower triple tree bracket setup. These images can still be used as a reference.
