Safety Information
This vacuum cleaner complies with recognised rules of technology and relevant safety regulations.
Intended Use: Domestic use only, up to 2000 metres above sea level. Use only as per instructions.
Prohibited Uses: Do not use for vacuum-cleaning persons or animals, or for vacuuming:
- Hazardous, sharp-edged, hot, or glowing substances.
- Damp or liquid substances.
- Highly flammable or explosive substances and gases.
- Ash, soot from tiled stoves and central heating systems.
- Toner dust from printers and copiers.
Spare Parts, Accessories, Dust Bags: Recommend using only original Bosch spare parts, accessories, and dust bags for optimal performance and longevity. Using inferior parts may damage the appliance and void the warranty.
Appliance Usage:
- May be used by children over 8 and persons with reduced capacity if supervised and instructed.
- Children must not play with the appliance.
- Cleaning/maintenance by children only under supervision.
- Keep plastic bags/films away from children (suffocation risk).
- Connect and use according to rating plate.
- Never vacuum without dust bag/container, motor protection, or exhaust filter (risk of damage).
- Keep appliance away from head when using nozzles/tubes (risk of injury).
- When vacuuming stairs, appliance must be below user.
- Do not carry by power cord or hose.
- If power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by manufacturer or qualified personnel.
- For use longer than 30 minutes, pull out power cord completely.
- Disconnect by pulling the plug, not the cord.
- Do not pull cord over sharp edges or trap it.
- Ensure plug is not thrown during cord retraction. Use plug to guide cord.
- Unplug before any maintenance.
- Do not operate if damaged; unplug if fault detected.
- Repairs by authorised personnel only.
- Protect from weather, moisture, heat.
- Do not pour flammable/alcohol substances onto filters.
- Not suitable for construction sites (rubble damage).
- Switch off and unplug when not in use.
- Dispose of unusable appliance appropriately at end of life.
- Mains socket must be protected by at least a 16 Amp circuit breaker.
- To prevent circuit breaker tripping, select lowest power setting first, then increase.

Replacement Parts and Special Accessories
A. Dust bag: For best results, use genuine Bosch dust bags (e.g., GALL). Contains 4 dust bags with fasteners. Genuine bags ensure optimal performance and meet EU energy label figures. B. Hard floor brush BBZ123HD: For vacuuming hard floors like parquet, tiles, terracotta.
Before Using Your Appliance for the First Time
Figure 1: Connect the hand grip to the flexible hose and lock it. To remove, press catches and pull.
Initial Use
Figure 2: Connect the flexible hose adapter to the vacuum cleaner's air intake opening until it locks. To remove, press catches and pull.
Figure 3: Connect the hand grip to the telescopic tube. To remove, turn slightly and pull.
Figure 4: Connect the telescopic tube to the floor tool. To release, turn slightly and pull.
Figure 5: Adjust telescopic tube length by moving the slider button.
Figure 6: Pull out the power cord to the required length and plug into the mains socket.
Figure 7: Switch the vacuum cleaner on by pressing the ON/OFF button.

- Low power range: For delicate materials (upholstery, curtains). [Information]
- Medium power range: For daily vacuuming of light dirt. [Information]

Vacuuming
Caution: Floor tools can wear down. Check underside regularly. Worn tools may damage sensitive floors. Manufacturer not liable for damage from worn tools.

Figure 11: Use parking aid on the back to temporarily stop vacuuming. Slide floor tool hook into rear recess after switching off.

When the Work is Done
Figure 13: a) Pull out the mains plug. b) Briefly pull and release the power cord for automatic retraction.
Figure 14: For storage/transport, use the underside storage aid. a) Stand appliance upright. b) Slide floor tool hook into rear recess.
Changing the Filter
Caution: Always switch off the appliance before changing the filter.
Replacing the dust bag:
- Figure 15: Change dust bag when indicator is full (even if not full) or if blockages are suspected. Detach hand grip to clear blockages.
- Figure 16: Open lid by pulling locking lever.
- Figure 17: Remove dust bag by pulling locking tab. Insert new bag and push fully into holder. Lid only closes with a bag inserted.
Cleaning the motor protection filter:
- Figure 18: Open lid. Release filter by pulling sideways. Clean by tapping out dirt. Rinse if very dirty. Dry for at least 24 hours. Refit and lock.
Replacing the exhaust filter:
- Micro-hygiene filter: Replace with filter pack. Figure 19: Remove filter holder, remove micro-hygiene filter. Rinse filter if needed, dry for at least 24 hours. Insert new filter and holder.
- HEPA filter: Replace annually. Figure 20: Remove HEPA filter. Insert new HEPA filter.
After vacuuming fine dust, clean motor protection filter and replace micro-hygiene/HEPA filter if necessary.
Care
Always switch off and unplug before cleaning. Clean appliance and plastic accessories with ordinary plastic cleaner.
Do not use: abrasive materials, glass-cleaning agents, or all-purpose cleaning products. Never immerse the vacuum cleaner in water.
Dust compartment can be cleaned with another vacuum or dry duster/brush.

Disposal Information
This appliance is labelled according to European Directive 2012/19/EU (WEEE). This guideline establishes the framework for return and recycling of used appliances throughout the EU.
Packaging: Made of environmentally friendly materials, recyclable. Dispose of at an appropriate recycling point.
Old Appliance: Contains valuable materials. Take to retailer or recycling centre for recycling. Enquire locally for current disposal methods.
Disposal of Filters and Dust Bags: Manufactured from environmentally friendly materials. Can be disposed of with normal household waste unless containing prohibited substances.
