Quartz Analogue Watches
User Manual
Introduction
Congratulations on choosing a TISSOT® watch, a Swiss brand renowned for its meticulous design and high-quality materials. This watch is protected against impacts, temperature variations, water, and dust. To ensure its precision for many years, please follow the advice in this manual. This user manual applies to all TISSOT® quartz, quartz solar, and autoquartz watches. Refer to specific explanations for your model.
Watch Display and Functions
The watch face displays the following functions:
- 1: Seconds hand
- 2: Minute hand
- 3: Hour hand
- 4: Date*
- 5: Day*
- 6: Moon phase*
* Depending on model.
Models with Screw-Down Crown
These models feature a screw-down crown for enhanced water-resistance. The crown has three positions:
- IA: Initial position (screwed down, not pulled out)
- IB: Winding position (unscrewed, not pulled out)
- II: Setting position (pulled out one step)
- III: Time setting position (pulled out fully)
Important: After any operation, the crown must be screwed back down to maintain water-resistance.
Recharging the Accumulator
Quartz Watches
These watches are battery-powered and do not require recharging.
Autoquartz Watches
To wind an Autoquartz watch, turn the crown approximately 50 revolutions in position I (or IB for models with a screw-down crown). The automatic winding system uses an oscillating weight driven by wrist movements to fully wind the movement. It takes several weeks of wear to reach maximum charge, providing a theoretical power reserve of 100 days.
Quartz Solar Watches
Recharge the accumulator by exposing the watch dial to sunlight or artificial light. These models do not have a winding crown.
Settings
Note: Pay attention to the screw-down crown information if your watch is equipped with one.
Setting the Time
Pull the crown out to position III and turn it to set the desired time. On models with a seconds hand, it stops when the crown is in position III, allowing synchronization with an official time signal (radio/TV/Internet). Once synchronized, push the crown back into position I (and screw it down if applicable).
Rapid Date* and Day* Correction
Note: Do not perform rapid date correction between 22:00 and 02:00.
Pull the crown out to position II. Turn clockwise to display the desired date, or anti-clockwise to correct the day. The watch will continue to operate during this adjustment.
Rapid Moon Phase Correction*
Note: Do not perform rapid moon phase correction between 22:00 and 02:00.
Pull the crown out to position II and turn it backward until the full moon appears in the center of the window. Use a lunar calendar to determine the number of days elapsed since the last full moon and turn the crown backward by that many notches.
Technical Information
TISSOT® Quartz Watches
These watches offer high accuracy with a power reserve of over 2 years. Precision may vary slightly with ambient temperature, typically between -0.5 and +0.7 seconds per day. Simply set the time and date as needed.
EOL Function (End of Life)
The battery end-of-life is indicated when the seconds hand jumps in 4-second intervals. The watch will continue to operate for a short period, but the battery should be replaced by an approved TISSOT® service centre.
TISSOT® Autoquartz Watches
These watches operate without a battery, using an accumulator that recharges automatically through wrist movements. The oscillation of the wrist turns an oscillating weight, which activates a micro-generator to charge the accumulator.
Power Supply (Autoquartz)
The lithium accumulator has an average service life of over 10 years. Never replace it with a conventional silver oxide battery, as this will damage the movement.
EOE Function (End of Energy)
Your TISSOT® Autoquartz watch has an EOE indicator. If the seconds hand jumps every 4 seconds, it signifies that the watch needs winding (refer to the "Recharging the accumulator" section).
Water Resistance
TISSOT® watches are designed to withstand pressures ranging from 3 bar (30m/100ft) to 30 bar (300m/1000ft), depending on the model indicated on the case-back. Water resistance is not permanent and can be affected by gasket aging or accidental impacts. It is recommended to have the watch's water resistance checked annually by an approved TISSOT® service centre.
Care and Maintenance
Temperature
Avoid sudden temperature changes (e.g., sunlight followed by cold water immersion) and extreme temperatures (above 60°C/140°F or below 0°C/32°F).
Magnetic Fields
Do not expose your watch to intense magnetic fields generated by speakers, mobile phones, computers, refrigerators, or other electromagnetic appliances.
Shocks and Impacts
Avoid thermal shocks or impacts, as they can harm your watch. In case of a violent impact, have your watch checked by a TISSOT® approved service centre.
Harmful Products
Prevent your watch from coming into direct contact with solvents, detergents, perfumes, cosmetic products, etc., as they may damage the bracelet, case, or gaskets.
Cleaning
Clean your watch regularly (except leather straps) using a soft cloth and lukewarm soapy water. After immersion in salt water, rinse your watch in fresh water and allow it to dry completely.
Storage (Quartz or Autoquartz Watches)
If you plan not to wear your watch for several weeks or months, pull the crown out to the last stop before storing it. This will reduce energy consumption.
Services and Spare Parts
Servicing
Like any precision instrument, your watch requires regular servicing for optimal operation. It is recommended to have your watch checked every 3 to 4 years by an approved TISSOT® retailer or service centre. The interval may be shorter depending on climate and usage conditions. Contact an approved TISSOT® retailer or service centre for the highest standards of service and to ensure your warranty remains valid.
Availability and Spare Parts
Tissot guarantees the availability of spare parts for a minimum of 10 years for standard watches and up to 20 years for gold watches from the production stoppage date. TISSOT® reserves the right to offer an alternative solution if a spare part's production is stopped or delayed.
