Wi-Fi Connectivity
The body cameras are generally pre-configured with the customer's SSID and password prior to shipping and will connect automatically to the pre-configured Access Point once it is in range. You can also connect the Camera to the Access Point using WPS (if enabled). If the camera is disconnected from Wi-Fi, a specific symbol will appear.
If the body camera is connected to Wi-Fi, it will indicate signal strength by how many bars change from grey to white. A strong signal is indicated by multiple white bars on the Wi-Fi symbol ?.
Storage
Each HALO HORIZON camera has 58GB of available storage for footage capture. The display may show the amount of storage left to use and the total amount of storage the camera can hold. For example, '2' might represent storage left to use (meaning 56GB has been used, and 2GB is left), while '58GB' indicates the overall storage capacity.
Charging
The docking station provides fast charging for the body camera and can also offer a wired internet connection via an RJ45 cable. Magnets assist in correctly placing the camera in the dock.
To charge the body camera, place it in either the single charging dock or one of the positions in a multi-dock. The battery symbol on the screen will animate to show the charging progress.
Battery Symbol Indicators:
- When the camera is charging: The ring on the front of the camera will flash white [White Flashing Ring].
- When the camera is fully charged: The LED ring on the front of the camera will be solid white light [Solid White LED Ring].
- If there are no lights on the camera: Ensure there is power to the charging dock and that all cable connections are secured.
Multidock Internet Connectivity
The docking station features 2 RJ45 ports. These ports can be used to provide an internet connection to the body camera or for daisy-chaining another multidock, enabling internet connectivity for up to 10 additional cameras.
When placed in the docking station, the top-left of the camera screen will display a symbol (typically [Ethernet Icon] 'E'). Initially, this indicates the camera is in the dock but has not obtained an IP address. After a few seconds, or shortly after an RJ45 cable is inserted, this symbol will change to green, indicating that the body camera has obtained an IP address on the network.
Function Button
The function button (FN) is located on the side of the body camera and can be configured for various features.
Video Tagging
By default, the FN button can tag footage as evidential. During recording, pressing the FN button will cause the camera to vibrate and signal Halo Vault to mark the footage as evidential upon upload.
WPS
If WPS has been enabled on the camera, pressing the FN button for one second will activate WPS. The camera will vibrate, and the screen will display 'WPS Active'. WPS remains active for 60 seconds before automatically turning off. For more detailed WPS information, consult the WPS instructions manual.
Footage Upload
Each HALO HORIZON body camera is equipped with footage upload capabilities. If the camera has internet connectivity (via Wi-Fi or RJ45), it will automatically check for footage every minute. Depending on file size, the screen will update within approximately 10 seconds to indicate that uploading is in progress.
File Count
At the start of the upload process, the screen will show the total number of files to upload and the file currently being processed. For example, an indication of 'file number 6 out of a total of 10' means that files 1 through 5 have already been uploaded.
Upload Progress
The screen also displays the upload progress for each individual file, showing the percentage complete (e.g., 59%). Within seconds of reaching 100%, the file will be deleted from the camera and become available for review in Halo Vault.
GPS
Each HALO HORIZON body camera can record GPS coordinates. By default, the current GPS location is recorded on every video frame. If the GPS signal is low (e.g., when the body camera is indoors), the location will not be recorded, and the symbol on the screen will be grey ? (grey).
When the GPS signal is strong, the symbol will change to green ? (green). This indicates that the coordinates are being recorded by the body camera and are burned onto each video frame.
