How do I connect the Aqara Hub with the app?

Do I need to add the accessories of the Aqara Smart Home Starter Kit to the hub?
No, the accessories of Aqara Smart Home Starter Kit have been added to the hub in advance. If you add the hub, they will work together properly.
Why does the hub sound an alarm and the LED indicator flash in red occasionally?
The Aqara Smart Home Starter Kit has preset some automations for your convenience, one of which is to double press Aqara Wireless Mini Switch to enable/disable alert mode. When the alert mode is enabled, the hub alarm will be triggered by following situations:
- Motion is detected by the Aqara Motion Sensor.
- The Aqara Door and Window Sensor is open for more than 1 minute.
Why can't the "family app security system” be set to Away mode?
The security system can arm successfully only when it is ready. Please make sure that the door and window sensor, set as the "Alarm Trigger Device", is in off mode, and the motion sensor is not in the triggered status.
In what circumstances do I need to reset the accessory?
- Refer to the reset instructions for different accessories and reset to default setting.
- The accessory that has been bound to an Aqara Hub has to be reset first so that it can be bound to the new Aqara Hub successfully.
How do I use the HomeKit security system to trigger Aqara Hub alert?
- Logout from the Aqara Home App and select "HomeKit Mode".
- Find your hub on the homepage of Aqara Home App, long press the hub control icon to enter the settings page, click "Alert Trigger Device", and turn on the alert trigger device.
What is ZigBee?

Wi-Fi Network Setup?
- Make sure that the home hub and the Aqara Hub are on the same Wi-Fi LAN.
- If you are not connected to the home hub, IOS devices can only connect to accessories within the LAN.
- The hub only supports 2.4GHz router Wi-Fi networks. If you are using a dual band router, please disable the 5GHz Wi-Fi network before adding the hub.
- If a router signal cannot provide coverage to all areas of the house, it is recommended that you install a Wi-Fi signal amplifier or set up a router bridge mode to access the main router when setting up the LAN network environment. Please refer to your Wi-Fi signal amplifier and router bridge mode manual for operational details.
How do I choose the Aqara Hub installation location?
- It is recommended that the hub be installed at the center area of the accessories to ensure that the hub and all accessories can communicate steadily. If the distance between the accessories and the hub is too far apart, the accessories may appear to be offline. In this case, please add another hub and connect the accessories to the newly installed hub.
- The hub should not be too far away from the router whenever possible. In order to ensure stable Wi-Fi communication, a straight-line distance of 2 to 6 meters (6 to 19 feet) is the most optimal.
- To ensure that the hub's signal can reach longer distances, it is recommended that the hub be installed no less than 1 meter (3 feet) from the ground.
What if the Aqara Hub fails to pair with the app?
Please follow the steps below:
- Keep the phone close to the hub and make sure the hub is blinking yellow.
- Connect the hub to a 2.4GHz band Wi-Fi and switch off the 5GHz if the router transmits on both bands.
- Make sure there are no special characters in the Wi-Fi name and, if it is a router for business, disable the "forbid sending mDNS to wireless clients" setting.
- Try with another Wi-Fi or creating a Wi-Fi hotspot with a phone can be even better, so you can know whether the pairing failed because the previous Wi-Fi signal is weak.
- If the pairing has failed after multiple attempts, you may need to restart your phone to clear the memory cache.
How do I check the firmware version of the Aqara Hub?
Ensure that your phone and the Aqara Hub are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Open the Aqara Home app. Under the Accessories page, select the hub to be upgraded, enter the hub details page, and click firmware to upgrade.
How do I restore the Aqara Hub to factory settings?
- Press and hold the hub button for 10 seconds until the yellow light flashes, indicating that the factory settings have been restored. This operation will not delete the set times, battery, and the list of the accessories.
- Press the hub button 10 times in rapid succession. After the yellow light flashes, it indicates that the factory settings have been restored. This operation will delete all the data such as the timing, battery level, and sub-device list of the accessories.
How can I control the Aqara Hub and its child devices remotely?
Once the hub is connected to a stable Wi-Fi, you can send commands from the app to the Aqara Hub and the child devices. To perform remote control with Apple Home app, you need to set up a home hub under the same Wi-Fi as the Aqara Hub, with stable internet access, logging in with the same Apple ID as the iPhone. Currently, iPad, HomePod or Apple TV can be set up to be the home hub.
Hub failed to add successfully, prompt "Accessories added"?
Please delete the previously added hub in the "Home" or "Aqara Home" app, then restart the phone Wi-Fi, then press and hold the hub button for 10 seconds to reset the hub until the yellow light flashes, and then add the hub again.

Can the Aqara Smart Plug be connected to Wi-Fi without a hub?

What can the Aqara Smart Plug do?
You can use your mobile phone to turn on/off the home appliances on the smart plug. And you can set a timer on the home appliances to automatically turn on/off anytime.
What appliances can the Aqara Smart Plug be used with?
The maximum load power for the Aqara Smart Plug is 1875W. The maximum load voltage and current are 100-125V and 15A, respectively. Appliances with load power, voltage and current that do not exceed these maximums can be used with the Aqara Smart Plug.
If the external network (ie. Wi-Fi) is down, will the Aqara Smart Plug still function?
If the external network is down, the app control function for Aqara Smart Plug will no longer be available. But the local control for the Aqara Smart Plug will not be affected and its connection with other smart devices will function normally.
Does the Aqara Smart Plug have a protection function?
The Aqara Smart Plug has a built-in socket protector to prevent accidental electrocutions. The maximum load power of the Aqara Smart Plug is 1875W. When the connected appliance exceeds the maximum load power, the Aqara Smart Plug will automatically cut off the power to avoid any danger.
Does the Aqara Smart Plug support power-off memory?
For safety reasons, when the Aqara Smart Plug powers off, the Aqara Smart Plug does not save settings. However, there is a "power-off memory" option in the app. By choosing this option, the Aqara Smart Plug settings will be restored to its previous status.
How do I reset the Aqara Smart Plug?
Long press the reset button for more than 5s. When the red indicator light blinks for 1s and starts a quick blue flashing, the Aqara Smart Plug has been successfully reset.
How do I verify an effective connection between the Aqara Smart Plug and the Aqara Hub?
For the specific instructions, please refer to the "Effective Range Test" instructions in the operating manual. If the hub indicates "normal link confirmed" then it means the smart plug and hub are connected effectively. If there is no indication, please move the smart plug closer to the hub and try again.

What functions does the Aqara Door and Window Sensor have?

- Because of the complex indoor environment, adjusting the distance between the Aqara Hub and the Aqara Door and Window Sensor can improve the overall result.
- Avoid installing sensors on metal surfaces because of the adverse effect this can have on the signal.
How do I know if the Aqara Door and Window Sensor works properly?
- Single press the reset button of the sensor, the hub will prompt with the voice message "normal link confirmed" which means the connection between the sensor and the hub is normal. If the hub gives no response, please move the sensor closer to the hub and try again. If the hub remains silent, the sensor might have been removed from the hub or run out of power. Please follow the instructions to add the sensor or replace the battery.
- Please split the sensor and the magnet and then move them back together, then check the log of the Aqara Door and Window Sensor in the app. The sensor is working properly if the corresponding event has been updated in the log.
How do I check the event log for the Aqara Door and Window Sensor?
Please follow the steps below: Aqara Home App > Accessories > Aqara Door and Window Sensor > Log. If the log is not updated, please pull down the log page to refresh.
What can I do if the Aqara Door and Window Sensor goes offline?
Possible reasons:
- The accessory is too far away from the hub. Please try to install the accessory closer to the hub.

- The accessory is installed on a metal surface and the signal is interfered with. Please avoid metal surfaces.

- A coffee table, shoe cabinet or desk surface can be used, but ensure that it is installed close to the edge (recommended height is 1.2m/3.94ft to 2.1m/6.89ft).
- Do not place it on a metal surface or allow anything to block the motion sensor.
If a pet enters the detection area of the Aqara Motion Sensor, will it trigger the sensor?
Yes, it will. It may be triggered by pets because of the passive infrared technology. To avoid this, we suggest you install the Aqara Motion Sensor in a higher position so the pet could not enter the detection area.
There is no motion of human or pets in the detection area but why can I still see the log in the app?
The Aqara Motion Sensor detects human motion with passive infrared technology, which means it may also be triggered by any heat source within the detection range such as an oven, air conditioner, or even sunlight.
How can I identify if the Aqara Motion Sensor works properly?
Press the reset button. If the hub voice prompts, "Normal link confirmed", it indicates that the hub and the Aqara Motion Sensor are communicating properly. If there is no voice prompt, please move the sensor closer to the hub and try again. If there is still no voice prompt, the sensor might be deleted, or its battery may have run down. Please refer to the user manual for methods to add the device or replace the battery. You can test the Aqara Motion Sensor by putting your hand in front of the lens and check the device records (log). The sensor is working properly if the corresponding event has been updated in the log.
