SOAP DISPENSER ROUGH-IN

Diagram Description: The rough-in diagram illustrates the dimensions for mounting the soap dispenser. Key dimensions include: spout width of 1-13/16" (46 mm), spout length of 5-3/8" (137 mm), and a required counter hole diameter of 1" (25 mm). It shows the brass shank, flange nut, sensor cord, and motor assembly. Clearance requirements are indicated, such as the 6-15/16" (176 mm) space needed for the motor assembly. A side view depicts the placement of the motor assembly and battery pack relative to the sink and counter, highlighting the need to avoid interference with water or drain lines.

INSTALLATION

The ESD-200/250/300/350 Soap Dispenser can often be mounted in the left or right hole of a 4" or 8" center-set sink. This is dependent on the faucet spout width and underside accessibility. If the motor and soap bottle interfere with water or drain lines, the dispenser must be installed through the countertop to the side of the sink.

Model ESD-20080/25085/30880/35187 Soap Dispenser and Faucet Combinations: When these ESD models are packaged with Sloan ETF-80, ETF-880, EBF-85, or EBF-187 Faucets for a 4" centerset sink, a special Trim Plate (ETF-299-A) is supplied. For these combinations, the faucet installs on the left and the soap dispenser on the right. Follow these instructions in conjunction with the faucet's installation instructions.

Water Supply Diagram: A diagram shows connections for HOT WATER SUPPLY and COLD WATER SUPPLY to a faucet, with the SOAP DISPENSER positioned nearby.

ESD-200, ESD-250, ESD-300 & ESD-350 Soap Dispenser Location Template

IMPORTANT: READ THIS BEFORE USING TEMPLATE.

If printing this document, ensure the template is the correct size. Measure the 1-1/2" (38 mm) dimension on the template to confirm accuracy. If it measures less than 1-1/2" (38 mm), reprint the page, ensuring "Shrinking oversized pages to paper size" or "Fit to page" options are unchecked in the printer settings.

Diagram Descriptions:

A 1" (25 mm) drill hole is indicated. The template also shows a "Center Drill Point" and a 1-1/2" (38 mm) dimension for verification. A "CUT HERE" line is shown for template use.

Plumbing Interference Note: Ensure the soap system does not interfere with the sink and plumbing under the counter.

1 - Install Spout

  1. Slide Rubber Gasket onto Brass Shank, ensuring the hole in the Gasket is positioned over the Spring Pin in the Base of the Spout (where applicable).
  2. Guide Brass Shank and Sensor Cord through the hole in the counter.
  3. Position Spout to direct soap into the sink.
  4. Guide Sensor Cord through the Flange Nut. Screw the Flange Nut onto the Brass Shank and tighten.

2 - Attach Motor Assembly

  1. Slide C-clip to open position.
  2. Place motor assembly at the bottom of the shank.
  3. Rotate motor housing to avoid interference with the lavatory bottom and existing plumbing. Position the motor housing so the red reset button is accessible.
  4. Push the motor assembly up into place and secure by pushing the C-clip closed.
  5. Plug the sensor connector into the motor assembly and slide the rubber seal into place.

3 - Attach Battery Pack (Models ESD-250 & ESD-350 Only)

  1. Place battery pack in a convenient location ensuring easy access.
  2. Secure to wall with screws and anchors. Note: The battery pack may be mounted using one screw and anchor with the top slot facilitating easy removal for battery replacement. A foam gasket is applied to the back to seal screw holes.
  3. Install 4 alkaline D-size batteries.
  4. Connect the power cord from the battery pack by inserting then screwing clockwise into the inlet on top of the motor assembly.
  5. A wall clip set may be used to hold the power cord against the wall.

4 - Connect AC Power (Models ESD-200 & ESD-300 Only)

  1. Connect the power cord from the transformer by inserting then screwing clockwise into the inlet on top of the motor assembly. Note: Transformer is supplied with a 24" (610 mm) cord.
  2. Plug transformer into a 120 VAC wall receptacle, activating the soap dispenser.
  3. A wall clip set may be used to hold the power cord against the wall.

5 - Install Soap Cartridge

Important: DO NOT handle soap refill cartridge by tube. For proper operation, ensure that tubing is not loose or bent.

  1. Unlock pump on refill cartridge by twisting counter-clockwise. The actuator will pop-up.
  2. Guide refill tube up through the bottom of the motor assembly.
  3. Lock soap refill into place by turning clockwise 1/4 turn.
  4. Press the refill reset button. This will automatically prime the soap refill bottle and initiate the counting mechanism.

800 ml. refill cartridge dispenses up to 1000 hand washes (supplied).

1600 ml. refill cartridge dispenses up to 2000 hand washes.

When using a 1600 ml. refill cartridge, the dipswitch (located on the Motor behind the black grommet just above the Reset Button) must be in the Down Position.

Operation

As the user's hands enter the beam's effective range, the beam is reflected back into the sensor receiver and activates the solenoid valve, allowing a single soap application to flow from the spout.

CARE AND CLEANING OF...

...THE SOAP DISPENSER

Deactivate the soap dispenser by placing your fingers or thumb over the sensor area while you clean. The sensors are located in the upper right and upper left corners of the activation zone. Once dispenser is cleaned, remove fingers or thumb from the sensor area.

...CHROME AND SPECIAL FINISHES

DO NOT use abrasive or chemical cleaners (including chlorine bleach) to clean the spout, as this may dull the luster and attack the chrome or special decorative finishes. Use ONLY mild soap and water, then wipe dry with a clean cloth or towel. While cleaning bathroom tile, protect the spout from any splattering of cleaner. Acids and cleaning fluids will discolor or remove chrome plating.

SOAP REPLACEMENT

When the Soap Bottle is empty, a new Bottle must be used. The Bottle furnished with the unit is not designed to be refilled. Altering the Bottle and refilling it with soap will void the warranty of the product.

To Order Replacement Soap Cartridges:

1-866-700-CLEAN (1-866-700-2532) or go to our website: www.optimasoap.com. Refills are also available through your local plumbing or janitorial supply distributor.

Soap Refill Cartridges Available:

Can also be replaced with TC® OneShot® Soap Bottles listed in the chart.

ATTENTION: Do not handle by tube. For proper operation, ensure that tubing is not loose or bent.

    • A. Batteries are low. Replace with four (4) new D-size alkaline batteries.
  3. Preventing soap from dispensing while cleaning.
    • A. Place your finger over the upper right hand or left hand corner of the sensor lens.
  4. The dispenser does not activate properly when hand is placed under spout.
    • A. In restrooms with fluorescent lighting, lighting that may be dying out or not burning at full intensity will cause interference with the soap dispenser. Replace fluorescent tube(s) and the soap dispenser will then function normally. Cool, white tubes are recommended.
  5. Soap does not dispense when user "waves" their hands under the spout.
    • A. Hands must be held “steady” under the spout for the dispenser to work.
  6. Dispenser rotates due to users moving the spout.
    • A. Tighten the existing flange nut on the shaft of the spout under the counter.
    • B. If this problem continues, you can order a second “flange nut” (ESD-620) from Sloan Valve.
  7. Soap does not dispense.
    • A. Check that your power source is plugged in correctly.
    • B. Make sure that batteries have been installed properly (Models ESD-250 & ESD-350 only).
    • C. Make sure the pump is open on the refill bottle (see Step 5).
  8. Tube pulls out of the refill bottle.
    • A. The tubes have been “stitched” to prevent their removal, however please ensure that your housekeeping staff does not pick the bottle up or carry it by the tube.
