- Cleaning the Dryer Interior: Clean the drum with a non-flammable cleaner or mild dish detergent and warm water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Garments with unstable dyes may discolor the interior; wash them inside out.
- Removing Accumulated Lint: Lint should be removed from the dryer cabinet and exhaust vent every 2 years, or more often with heavy use, by a qualified service technician.
- Cleaning the Lint Screen: Clean the lint screen before or after each load by rolling lint off with your fingers. Do not rinse or wash the screen to remove lint, as wet lint is difficult to remove. If lint falls into the dryer, check and clean the exhaust hood.
- As-needed Cleaning: Residue from detergents or fabric softeners can clog the lint screen, leading to longer drying times or premature cycle stops. Clean the screen with a nylon brush every 6 months or as needed. Wash the screen with hot water and liquid detergent, rinse, and dry thoroughly.
- Changing the Drum Light (on some models): Unplug the dryer, open the door, remove the light bulb cover screw, replace the bulb with a 10W appliance bulb, and reassemble.
- Check Your Vent System for Good Airflow: Proper venting is crucial for drying efficiency and energy savings. Use a heavy metal vent, the shortest possible length, and no more than four 90° elbows. Clean the exhaust hood and the entire vent system periodically.
- Nonuse, Storage, and Moving Care: For extended nonuse, unplug the dryer and clean the lint screen. For steam models, turn off the water supply. When moving, disconnect power, secure the door, and ensure leveling legs are secure. For direct-wired dryers, disconnect power at the breaker box.
- Winterizing: Unplug the dryer, shut off the water supply, and drain the hoses.
- Water Inlet Hose: Replace inlet hoses every 5 years or if signs of wear or leakage are present.
