Device Overview and Reset
Resetting the Plug: To restore factory settings, hold the ON/OFF button for 5 seconds while the plug is connected.
Indicator Light Status:
- Blue light blinking every 0.5 second: Easy Mode connection
- Blue light blinking every 2 seconds: AP Mode connection
- Red light: Power is ON
- Blue light: Power is OFF

HBN Smart App Installation
- Download the App: Search for "HBN Smart" on the App Store or Google Play Store. Alternatively, scan the provided QR code. Confirm the app icon before downloading.
- Compatibility: The smart plug is also compatible with the "Smart Life" app.
- Account Registration: Register an account using your email address or phone number. Obtain a verification code to complete the registration.
Wi-Fi Connection Requirements
- Network: Requires a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
- 5GHz Networks: Connection is not possible with 5GHz Wi-Fi only.
- Dual-Band Routers: If your router broadcasts both 2.4GHz and 5GHz signals, ensure your phone is connected to the 2.4GHz network (often indicated by "_5G" or similar).
- Single-Band Routers: If your router broadcasts only one signal, you may need to configure it to support a 2.4GHz network.
Connecting the Smart Plug
A: Connection via Bluetooth:
- Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone. For Android devices, location permission must be granted.
- Confirm the smart plug is plugged into a live outlet.
- Open the HBN Smart app. A pop-up should appear indicating the device has been discovered. Tap "Go to add".
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the connection.
B: Easy Mode Connection (Blue indicator light blinks rapidly):
- Ensure the smart plug is plugged into a live outlet.
- Open the HBN Smart app and select the "+" symbol.
- Choose "Socket (wifi)".
- Confirm the indicator light status on your plug and follow the app guide. If the blue light is not blinking quickly, press the ON/OFF button to reset.
- Set a unique name for the smart plug and choose its room location.
C: AP Mode Connection (Indicator light blinks once every 2 seconds):
- If Easy Mode fails, remove and re-plug the smart plug. When the indicator blinks quickly (Easy Mode), press and hold the power button for about 7 seconds to enter AP Mode (slow blinking indicator).
- In the HBN Smart app, navigate to the "Add Device" (+) interface, select "Socket (Wifi)", then choose "Other Mode" (top right corner) and select "AP Mode".
- Confirm the indicator light is flashing slowly and confirm in the app.
- Select your 2.4G Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
- Tap "Connect now" and select the Wi-Fi hotspot named "HBN Smart-xxx".
- Return to the HBN Smart application and wait for successful configuration. Tap "Completed".
HBN Smart App Features
- Switch: Control power ON/OFF.
- Timer: Set specific times for the plug to turn on or off.
- Schedule: Create recurring schedules for automated control.
- Groups/Scenes: Create custom scenes and groups to control multiple smart devices simultaneously across different rooms.
- Device Sharing: Grant control permissions to other users by adding their HBN Smart accounts via the "Shared devices" option in the device settings.
Note: Edit default device names for better management.
Integration with Voice Assistants
Amazon Alexa:
- Ensure your smart plug is connected to the HBN Smart app.
- Open the Alexa app, go to "Skills & Games", search for "HBN Smart", and enable it.
- Log in with your HBN Smart account credentials to link the services.
- Authorize Alexa to use HBN Smart. Devices will sync automatically, or you can ask Alexa to discover new devices.
- Ensure device names in both apps are consistent and recognizable for voice control.
Google Home:
- Open the Google Home app and select "Set up device".
- Choose "Works with Google" and search for "HBN Smart".
- Enter your HBN Smart account credentials and authorize the connection.
- The smart plug will appear as "Linked to you". Manage linked devices by clicking on the device or opening "Works with Google" again.
- Assign a home and room for the device and ensure device names are unique and recognizable.
Voice Control Tips: Use clear, unique, and recognizable device names for voice commands. Ensure your native language is supported by the voice assistant.
Troubleshooting
Q: Why did my phone connection fail?
A: Try both Easy Mode and AP Mode, ensuring you follow the guides carefully. Confirm your Wi-Fi is 2.4GHz and the password is correct. Remove and reinstall the smart plug. Contact customer support if issues persist.
Q: Why can't I voice control the plug with Alexa/Google?
A: Verify the smart plug is connected and working in the HBN Smart app. Ensure the same account is linked as a skill. Check that your Alexa/Google device is functioning correctly. Use unique and recognizable device names. Consult Alexa/Google support or contact BN-LINK for further assistance.
Q: Do I need to set up the device again if I changed my router?
A: Yes, if the Wi-Fi name or router/modem changes. No setup is needed if only the router's placement is changed within the same house.
Q: Why does it turn on/off or come offline surprisingly?
A: Check for Wi-Fi interruptions or scheduled timers/schedules. Reset and reinstall the plug if necessary. Email support@bn-link.com if the problem continues.
