Wireless N USB VDSL/ADSL Modem Router
1. Connect the Hardware
Note: Images may differ from actual products.
If you do not require phone service, skip step 1 and connect the modem router directly to the phone jack using a phone cable. Then, proceed to steps 3 and 4 for hardware connection.
If you already have a modem or your internet connection comes directly from an Ethernet wall outlet, you can switch to Wireless Router mode. Refer to the 'Already Have a Modem?' section on the back page.
Step 1: Connect the DSL splitter to the phone jack.
Step 2: Connect the modem router to the DSL splitter.
Step 3: Connect the power adapter to the modem router and press the power button to turn it on.
Step 4: Verify that the hardware connection is correct by checking the following LEDs:
- Power: Should be solid ON.
- DSL: Should be solid ON.
- Wi-Fi: Should be solid ON.
Notes:
- The DSL LED may take 1 to 2 minutes to stabilize.
- If the Wi-Fi LED is off, press the WiFi button on the rear panel for about 1 second. The LED should turn solid in a few seconds.
2. Configure the Modem Router
1. Before You Start
- You typically need an internet service username and password from your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Contact your ISP if you are unsure.
- Locate the product label on the bottom of your router. The default SSID (network name) and Wireless Password are printed on this label.
2. Configure Via the Web Browser
a. Connect your device to the router using an Ethernet cable or wirelessly. The SSID (network name) and Wireless Password are on the product label.
b. Launch a web browser and navigate to http://tplinkmodem.net or http://192.168.1.1. Use 'admin' (all lowercase) for both the username and password to log in.
Note: If the login page does not appear, refer to FAQ > Q1.
c. Click 'Next' to begin the Quick Setup and follow the on-screen instructions to establish an internet connection.

Button Explanation
- BUTTON: WPS/RESET. Press and hold for 1 second to enable the WPS function. Press and hold until all LEDs turn on to reset the modem router to its factory default settings.
- BUTTON: WiFi. Press for about 1 second to turn the wireless function of the modem router on or off.
Already have a modem?
If you already have a modem or your internet comes directly from an Ethernet wall outlet, you can switch to Wireless Router mode. Follow these steps to complete the setup:
a. Connect the hardware and wait approximately 1 minute for the router to start up.
b. Connect your device to the router's LAN4/WAN port using an Ethernet cable or connect wirelessly. The SSID and Wireless Password are on the product label.
c. Launch a web browser and navigate to http://tplinkmodem.net or http://192.168.1.1. Use 'admin' (all lowercase) for both username and password to log in.
Note: If the login page does not appear, refer to FAQ > Q1.
d. Go to 'Operation Mode', select 'Wireless Router Mode'. After rebooting, go to 'Network' > 'WAN Settings' and click 'Add New' to finalize the setup.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Q1. What should I do if I cannot access the web management page?
- Ensure your computer is set to obtain an IP address automatically.
- Verify that http://tplinkmodem.net or http://192.168.1.1 is entered correctly in the web browser.
- Try using a different web browser.
- Reboot your modem router and try again.
- Disable and then re-enable your network adapter.
Q2. What should I do if I cannot access the internet?
- Confirm that all telephone and Ethernet cables are securely connected to the modem router.
- Attempt to log in to the modem router's web management page using the default address (http://tplinkmodem.net or http://192.168.1.1). If unsuccessful, configure your computer to obtain an IP address automatically from the modem router. If successful, proceed with the following steps.
- Obtain the VPI/VCI (or VLAN ID), connection type, internet service username, and password from your ISP. Ensure these details are correctly entered on the router's management page.
- Restore the modem router to its factory default settings and reconfigure it according to this guide.
- Contact TP-Link Technical Support if the issue persists.
Q3. How do I restore the modem router to its factory default settings?
- With the modem router powered on, press and hold the WPS/RESET button on the modem router until all LEDs briefly illuminate, then release the button.
- Log in to the modem router's web management page, navigate to 'System Tools' > 'Factory Defaults', and click 'Restore'. The modem router will automatically restore and reboot.
Q4. What should I do if I forget my password?
- For the web management page: Reset the modem router using the method in FAQ > Q3. The default username and password are 'admin' (all lowercase).
- For the Wi-Fi network: The default Wireless Password/PIN is located on the product label at the bottom of the modem router. If the default password was changed, log in to the web management page and go to 'Wireless' > 'Wireless Security' to retrieve or reset your password.
Q5. What should I do if the DSL LED does not turn solid on?
- Check all cable connections, including telephone lines and the power adapter, to ensure they are plugged in correctly.
- Restore the modem router to its factory default settings.
- Disconnect the DSL splitter, connect the modem router directly to the phone jack, and reconfigure it following this guide.
- Contact your ISP to verify the status of your DSL line.
- If the problem persists, contact TP-Link Technical Support.
