Initial Setup

Getting Started: Pressure Cooking

  1. Pressure Cook Your Food First

    Place food into the stainless steel inner pot, then insert the inner pot into the Instant Pot cooker base. Follow cooking instructions from your Instant Pot Multi-Use Pressure Cooker manual.

    When pressure cooking is complete and you have released all pressure, remove the pressure cooker lid.

    Always unplug the Instant Pot multi-use pressure cooker base BEFORE plugging in the Air Fryer Lid.

    Place the Air Fryer Lid on the Instant Pot cooker base.

Getting Started: Air Frying

  1. Air Fry Only

    If not pressure cooking first, attach the air fryer basket to the air fryer basket base and insert them (or other oven-safe cookware) into the stainless steel inner pot, then add your food.

    Always unplug Instant Pot multi-use pressure cooker base BEFORE plugging in Air Fryer Lid.

Operating the Air Fryer Lid

  1. Place the Air Fryer Lid on the Instant Pot cooker base.

  2. Connect Air Fryer Lid power cord to a 120 V power source.

    Display indicates OFF and the lid will beep once.

    ⚠️ WARNING

    Overloading electrical circuits can lead to fire, burns and injury. Do NOT plug in Air Fryer Lid and the Instant Pot multi-use pressure cooker base at the same time. Always unplug Instant Pot multi-use pressure cooker base BEFORE plugging in Air Fryer Lid.

    ⚠️ WARNING

    Do not remove plug cover. Pressure Cooker must be unplugged and only the Air Fryer Lid should be plugged in.

  3. Select a Smart Program:

    Choose from Air Fry, Broil, Bake, Roast, Reheat or Dehydrate.

  4. Use the + / - keys to adjust the Time and Temperature.

    ? Note: The Air Fryer Lid will save any customization made to the cook time or temperature once you selected Start.
  5. Press Start.

  6. Part way through the cooking cycle the lid beeps and the display indicates "turn Food".

    ⚠️ CAUTION

    The inner pot and accessories will be hot. Exercise caution when placing food in a preheated air fryer basket.

  7. Lift the Air Fryer Lid off the Instant Pot cooker base and place it on the protection pad provided.

    Lifting the lid automatically pauses cooking. Cooking will resume if the lid is put back on the cooker base within 3 minutes. If not, the lid will go into standby mode and display OFF.

  8. Turn, flip, or rotate your food, then place the Air Fryer Lid on the Instant Pot cooker base to resume cooking.

    A jingle plays when the Air Fryer Lid is placed correctly, and cooking will continue.

    ? Note: Some food does not require turning. If the lid is not removed after the "turn Food" indicator appears, cooking will proceed after 10 seconds.
  9. When the Smart Program (Air Fry, Bake, Roast, and Broil) completes, the lid beeps and the display indicates "End" and "Cool".

    The fan will continue to run for 5 minutes or stop immediately when you lift the lid off. The display will indicate "OFF".

    For Reheat and Dehydrate Smart Programs, when the program finishes, the lid beeps and the display indicates "End".

    ? Note: If Cancel is pressed during the cooking program, the display will indicate OFF and you can select another program. The display will also indicate Cool and the fan will run for 5 minutes or until you change the program.
  10. Lift the Air Fryer Lid off the Instant Pot cooker base and place it on the protective pad, or let the Air Fryer Lid keep your food warm for up to 1 hour.

  11. Carefully remove your food, serve and enjoy!

    To store your Air Fryer Lid, flip the protective pad so the grooved side is up and attach it to the Air Fryer Lid.

    ⚠️ CAUTION

    The inner accessories pot will be hot during and after cooking. To avoid injury, use oven mitts and do not touch the inner pot or other accessories with bare skin.

More Controls

Smart Programs

Depending on your recipe, food may be placed in the multi-level air fryer basket, or directly in the inner pot. Smart Programs are preset to specific times and temperatures. These can be changed by pressing + / - of Temp and Time. The default setting and change range of each Smart Program function is as follows:

These preset times and temperatures are based on common cooking times. Always follow a trusted recipe, as time and temperature will vary based on food type and quantity.

Compatibility

Use only with the following Instant Pot branded 6 QT Electric Multi-Use Pressure Cookers. Use only with Instant Pot stainless steel inner pots. Never use with ceramic coated inner pots.
