Using Liquid to Create Steam
Pressure cooking requires liquid. Minimum amounts:

- 6 Quarts / 5.7 Litres: 1 1/2 cups (12 oz / 375 mL)

How to Release Steam
Choose a method based on your recipe:
- Natural Steam Release: Leave the steam release switch in the 'Sealing' position. Steam releases gradually (up to 40+ minutes). Best for foods that can simmer (stews, chili, pasta, oatmeal, beans, grains). Wait for the float valve to drop before removing the lid.
- Quick Steam Release: Move the steam release switch to 'Venting' position. Steam releases quickly. Best for foods that overcook easily (vegetables, seafood). Wait for the float valve to drop before removing the lid.
Pressure Cooking Caution: Allow all excess pressure and steam to release before opening the lid to prevent burns or injury.
