5. Warnings and Safety Precautions

CAUTION: Place the pump fully submerged in water before plugging it in. The pump can only be used in water.

  1. Read and follow this user manual strictly.
  2. DANGER: To avoid possible electric shock, exercise special care when using the pump with aquarium equipment. Do not attempt to repair the pump yourself; return it to an authorized service facility or discard it.

  3. If the pump shows signs of abnormal water leakage or if an RCD (or GFCI) is present, unplug the power and remove the pump from water.
  4. Carefully examine the pump after installation. Do not plug it in if there is water on parts not intended to be wet.
  5. Do not operate the pump if it has a damaged cord or plug, or if it is malfunctioning or damaged in any manner. The power cord cannot be replaced; if damaged, the pump must be discarded.
  6. To prevent the pump plug or receptacle from getting wet, position the aquarium stand and tank to one side of a wall-mounted receptacle. Arrange a "drip loop" for each cord connecting the pump to the receptacle. The "drip loop" is the part of the cord below the level of the receptacle or connector, preventing water from traveling along the cord. If the plug or receptacle gets wet, DO NOT unplug the cord. Disconnect power at the circuit breaker, then unplug and examine the receptacle for water.
  7. Close supervision is necessary when the pump is used near children.
  8. This pump is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction by a responsible person.
  9. To avoid injury, do not contact moving parts or hot parts.
  10. Always unplug the pump from the outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before maintenance or placing hands in water. Never yank the cord to pull the plug; grasp the plug and pull to disconnect.
  11. Do not use the pump for purposes other than its intended use. Using attachments not recommended or sold by the manufacturer may cause an unsafe condition.
  12. Do not install or store the pump where it will be exposed to weather or temperatures below freezing. The pump is suitable for use in water temperatures between 40~95°F (4~35°C).
  13. Do not submerge the pump more than 3ft (approx. 0.9m) of water depth.
  14. Do not run the pump dry or out of water.
  15. Only use the pump in freshwater or saltwater; do not use it in other liquids.
  16. Make sure the pump is securely installed before operating it.
  17. Read and observe all important notices on the pump.
  18. If an extension cord is necessary, use one with a proper rating. A cord rated for less amperage or wattage than the appliance may overheat. Arrange the cord to prevent tripping or pulling.
  19. The pump is intended FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY. Do not mount the pump in a way that restricts or blocks the top vents, as these are necessary to avoid overheating and ensure safe operating temperatures.
  20. Regarding water testing: If the pump contains a small amount of water upon receipt, this is a normal phenomenon resulting from professional water testing by the manufacturer before shipment. It indicates the pump is new and functioning correctly.

6. Maintenance and Trouble Resolve

To clean the pump, remove the intake cover, sealing cover, and the impeller. Use a small brush or steam of water to remove any debris.

If the pump does not work, check the following:

  • Check the circuit: Try plugging into another power socket to ensure the pump is receiving power. Note: Do not plug in before operation.
  • Check the pump outlet and tube for blockages caused by dirt.
  • Check the inlet cover to ensure it is not clogged by debris.
  • Remove the pump inlet cover to access the impeller. Turn the rotor to check if it is broken or jammed.

Monthly maintenance will prolong your pump's life. Clean the rotor and remove dirt.

Note: For indoor use, the power socket must be installed with a leakage current protecting device, and the leakage current shall not exceed 30 mA. Consumers must install this device themselves.
