Recommendations for Use
To reduce environmental impact: Start cooking by switching the hood on at minimum speed and leave it on for a few minutes after finishing. Increase speed only if there is a large amount of steam and fumes. Use the booster function only when necessary. Replace carbon filters regularly for optimal odour reduction. Clean the grease filter regularly for efficient operation. To optimize efficiency and reduce noise, use a duct of the maximum diameter indicated and ensure it has as few bends as possible (maximum angle: 90°). Avoid drastic changes in duct cross-section and use ducts that are as smooth as possible inside, made of certified material.
Installation
Ducting Version: This version conveys fumes outside via an extraction duct connected to the flange. The duct diameter must match the connecting ring. The duct is not supplied and must be purchased separately.
In the horizontal section, the extraction duct should have a slight upwards inclination (about 10°) for easier air conveyance. If the hood has activated carbon filters, they should be removed. Connect the hood to extraction ducts and wall outlets with the same diameter as the air outlet. Using smaller diameter ducts will reduce suction and increase noise.
Filter Version: Air is degreased and deodorised before returning to the room. This version requires an additional activated carbon filtration system. Models without a suction motor operate only in ducting mode and require connection to an external suction device (not supplied).
The minimum distance between hob pan supports and the hood's lowest part must be at least 50cm for electric hobs and 65cm for gas or mixed fuel hobs. Comply with any greater distance specified in gas hob installation instructions.
Electrical Connection: Mains power supply voltage must match the rating plate. If supplied with a plug, connect to a compliant, accessible socket. If not fitted with a plug, use a compliant two-pole switch for complete mains disconnection under over-current category III conditions, as per installation regulations.
WARNING: Ensure the mains power cable is installed correctly before reconnecting the hood and verifying its operation. The hood is provided with a special power cable; if damaged, request a replacement from technical support.
Mounting:
- Ensure the product is suitable for the installation area.
- Remove activated carbon filters if supplied (they can be reinstalled for filter version use).
- Remove any items (e.g., screws, guarantees) inside the hood that were included for transport purposes.
- Disconnect and move any units below and around the installation area for better access. Protect furniture and parts involved in installation.
- Select a flat surface and cover it with a protective cover.
- Ensure an accessible electric socket is available in the installation area.
- Carry out necessary masonry work (e.g., installing an electrical socket, creating a hole for the duct).
The hood is supplied with expansion plugs for most walls/ceilings. A qualified technician should verify material suitability. The wall/ceiling must be strong enough to support the hood's weight.
Control Panel
The hood features a 9-button capacitive control panel:
- OFF/ON / Stand-by: Touch to turn the hood ON/OFF or put it in Stand-by mode. The icon lights dimly when OFF.
- Fan Speed (1, 2, 3): Touch to select or modify fan speed. Pressing again disables the function.
- Boost Function: Touch to set the extraction fan to maximum speed for 7 minutes, after which it reverts to speed 3. The icon flashes while active.
- Light On/Off/Adjustment: Briefly touch to turn the light on/off. Press and hold for over 1 second to adjust brightness continuously. The selected brightness is saved. Double-tapping quickly when the light is off sets it to maximum brightness.
- “Tunable White” function: Touch the F and symbols simultaneously to set light colour temperature, adjustable from cold to warm. The selection is saved.
- 24h FUNCTION: Allows air changes by activating the fan at speed 1 for 10 minutes every hour. The icon lights up when active. It deactivates automatically after 24 hours or can be disabled by touching the icon again.
- Delayed Switch Off Function: Automatic switch-off can be delayed by 10 minutes at any speed, except BOOST mode. The icon lights up more brightly when active. Touch again to disable.
- Clean Filter Indicator (F): After 100 hours of operation, the F symbol lights up, indicating filters need cleaning/replacement. Touch the F symbol for 3 seconds to reset.
- AUTO-VENT 2.0 FUNCTION (Connection to a SMEG enabled hob): This function allows the hood to operate automatically in response to commands from a connected SMEG hob. The connection is unidirectional (hob to hood). When the hood is in Stand-by, buttons 1, 2, 3 flash every 5 seconds to indicate automatic function is active. The hood adjusts fan speed based on hob operation. Refer to the hob's manual for details. Switching off the hob returns the hood to Stand-by with the automatic function active. Touching any control during automatic operation disables the function; restart by switching the hood off and on again.
Maintenance
WARNING: Before cleaning or maintenance, disconnect the hood from the mains power supply.
Cleaning: Clean the hood regularly, both internally and externally, at least as often as the grease filters are serviced. Use a cleaning cloth with neutral liquid detergent. Do not use abrasive products or alcohol. Failure to follow cleaning and filter replacement instructions can lead to fire risk.
Grease filter: Retains grease particles. Clean at least once a month or when the filter saturation indicator (if present) signals. Use a non-aggressive detergent, by hand or in a dishwasher (short cycle, low temperature). Dishwasher washing may change the filter's colour but not its performance. Pull the spring release handle to remove the grease filter.
Lamp Replacement: The hood uses an LED lighting system, offering optimum lighting, longer lifespan (up to 10 times traditional lamps), and energy savings up to 90%. For replacement, contact technical support service.
