General Information
The EXD-HP1/2 are autonomous universal controllers for overheat and/or economizer control in heat pumps, heating systems, air conditioning systems, and precise temperature maintenance systems.
Characteristics
- Self-tuning of overheat and/or economizer control when operating with EMERSON EXM/EXL expansion valves or EXN with stepper motor.
- Discharge temperature control using steam injection or refrigerant wet vapor injection into the compressor.
- EXD-HP1: Controller for single valve control.
- EXD-HP2: Controller for dual valve control.
- Ability to communicate with a system controller via Modbus network (RTU mode). All data (read/write) is accessible to a third-party controller with Modbus (RTU) communication.
- Upload/download key, allowing copying of configuration parameters from one controller to another.
- Low-pressure protection and freeze protection.
- Manual valve positioning.
- Boiling pressure limitation (MOP).
- High/low overheat alarm signal.
- Monitoring of sensors and wires, detection of sensor failures and wire breaks.
- Built-in display (3 digits, LEDs) and keypad.
- Electrical connections via screw terminals (included with the controller).
- OEM product: order in boxes of 20 pieces (OEM packaging).

❗ WARNING ❗ - Flammable Refrigerants: EXD-HP1/2 are potential ignition sources and do not comply with ATEX requirements. Installation only in explosion-proof environments. Use only approved valves and cables for flammable refrigerants!
EXD-HP1 and EXD-HP2 (Main Terminal Block)
EXD-HP2 (Upper Terminal Block)
The main board is intended for overheat or economizer control functions. The alarm relay is a dry contact. The relay coil is not energized during an alarm or power failure. The hot gas discharge temperature input is mandatory only for the economizer control function. The transformer must be Class 2. The upper board is only for overheat control function. It is not necessary to connect the upper board if contour 2 is not used.
Modbus Connection and Protocol Details
Communication with other systems is optional, but connection with higher-level controllers (from other manufacturers) is possible for data and command transmission, as well as for data logging.
Bus Topology
The EXD-HP1/2 controller acts as a slave device, and the controller from another manufacturer acts as a master. If multiple EXD-HP1/2 are connected to a master device, each device must have a unique address for proper operation.
Diagram shows a Master/Slave bus topology with two EXD-HP units connected via RS485, with 120 Ohm termination resistors at each end.
