DuoStand™ Installation Guide

Safety Information

⚠️ If you are unsure how to install this product, please visit your local dealer.

⚠️ Do not exceed the load limit of 60 kg (132 lb). This limit includes the weight of the bike.

⚠️ Never leave children or pets on a parked bike unattended.

What's Included

The DuoStand package typically contains:

• DuoStand (main kickstand component)
• M10 x 30 Bolt (x2)
• M10 x 70 Bolt (x1)
• M10 Nut (x2)
• M10 Washer (x4)
• M10 Spring Washer (x1)
• Flat Plate
• DuoStand Ends

Additional Kit Required (For HSD Gen 1 Owners Only)

Owners of Tern HSD Gen 1 bikes require the DuoStand HSD Kit (sold separately) for installation. This kit includes:

• M10 x 45 Bolt (x2)
• Bushing (x2)
• Wing-shaped Plate

Refer to frame illustrations to identify your HSD model.

Installation

Tools Required (Not Included)

• 2 x 17 mm Wrench
• 1 x 3, 4, or 5 mm Allen Wrench

Preparation: Apply anti-seize lubricant to the tip of the bolts before securing nuts. If unavailable, use any standard lubricant to reduce friction and prevent thread galling.

Step 1: Remove Existing Kickstand

Remove the bike's current kickstand. The specific tool required may vary depending on your bike model.

Step 2: Identify HSD Frame

Locate the kickstand mount situated in front of the rear wheel to identify your HSD frame type.

HSD Gen 1 Frame Variants:

• HSD Gen 1
• HSD Gen 1A

Step 3: Install Bolt Sets

Follow the specific assembly order for your HSD frame model:

HSD Gen 1 Assembly Order:

The sequence for HSD Gen 1 is:

1. M10 Nut
2. Washer
3. Wing-shaped plate (from DuoStand HSD Kit)
4. Bushing (from DuoStand HSD Kit)
5. Bike frame
6. Flat plate
7. DuoStand
8. Washer
9. M10 x 70 Bolt

HSD Gen 1A Assembly Order:

The sequence for HSD Gen 1A is:

1. M10 Nut
2. Washer
3. Bike frame
4. Flat plate
5. DuoStand
6. Washer
7. M10 x 30 Bolt

Torque Specification: Tighten bolts to 35 Nm - 40 Nm using a 17 mm wrench.

Cable Routing: ⚠️ Ensure all cables are routed as shown in the diagrams to prevent damage from compression.

Mounting Location: The DuoStand mounts to the frame in front of the rear wheel.

Step 4: Set Clearance

The recommended ground clearance for the rear wheel is 10-20 mm (approximately 2/5" to 4/5").

To adjust the DuoStand's height, loosen the bolts on the DuoStand Ends to raise or lower the legs. Once the desired clearance is set, tighten the bolts to a torque of 8 - 9 Nm.

For Quick Haul & Short Haul Owners

The installation process for Quick Haul and Short Haul models follows a similar principle, using the following assembly order:

1. M10 Nut
2. Washer
3. Bike frame
4. DuoStand
5. Washer
6. M10 x 30 Bolt

Torque Specification: Tighten bolts to 35 Nm - 40 Nm using a 17 mm wrench.

Mounting Location: The DuoStand mounts to the frame in front of the rear wheel.

(Note: Specific diagrams for Quick Haul/Short Haul assembly order are consistent with HSD Gen 1A assembly, using M10 x 30 bolts.)

Optional: Install Lockstand™ Extensions

For enhanced stability when the bike is parked, you can install Lockstand™ Extensions. These are available for purchase from your local Tern dealer.

Limited Product Warranty Information

This product is covered by a ONE (1) YEAR Limited Warranty from the original retail purchase date. Tern (Mobility Holdings, Ltd.) will replace the product if a material or workmanship defect is identified within the warranty period.

Mobility Holdings, Ltd. is not liable for damages to personal property resulting from misuse, improper care, or maintenance. This warranty does not cover the replacement or cost of any third-party products used with the DuoStand.
