Connecting Your VIZIO JV50P HDTV

The Best Connection

For the best quality picture, VIZIO recommends using HDMI, DTV, RGB, or Component inputs when possible. These are the only inputs capable of high definition (HD). Using these inputs does not guarantee high definition unless a high definition source is connected. However, not all equipment is capable of these connections. TV, AV, and S-Video are not capable of HD signals.

Note: Both DTV and TV share the same port. The television will automatically register which input type is connected.

Four Easy Steps to Connect Your Equipment

Simply follow our color-coded Step Charts and you're done.

Step 1: Choose Items to Connect to your JV50P

Determine which type of Signal Source and any Additional Equipment you wish to connect to your JV50P. The colored dots under each Signal Source and Additional Equipment indicate which type of connections you may use to connect to your JV50P. For example, a red dot indicates a connection that uses red RCA cables.

Step 2: Choose Equipment Connection Methods

Using the colored dots from Step One, follow the row across to Step Two to match up the colored dots to the same colored connection method. Choose ONLY one method for each piece of equipment.

Step 3: Select Cables and Make Connections

Once you have determined the connection methods from Step Two, follow the row to Step Three to determine what kind of cables you need and what the connections look like on your equipment. Following the color-coded system, use the appropriate cables and connect your Signal Source and Additional Equipment to the color-coded inputs on your JV50P. Once connected, turn on your JV50P and all your equipment.

Step 4: Use Your JV50P

Fill in the Connection Reference Chart below, noting how you will connect your equipment/signal source to your JV50P. If you are using the DTV/TV input, consult your Owner's Manual for programming instructions. Press the [INPUT Button] on your remote. The INPUT menu will appear. Continue pressing the [INPUT Button] until you reach the corresponding connection.

Connect your Signal Source to the DTV/TV connection, then proceed to Step 2.

Please Note: ? Be sure the batteries in your remote are inserted correctly.

Step 2: On-Screen Setup

  1. Turn on the TV ?. The Initial Setup screen should appear. If this screen does not appear, see User Manual Chapter 3 for TV Tuner Setup.
  2. Select Language: English, Français, Español.
  3. Press the [Arrow Keys] or [OK Button] to select Cable or Antenna. Select 'Cable' if you are using cable from the wall, or 'Air' if you are using an antenna.
  4. Press the [Arrow Keys] to continue to the next screen.
  5. Press the [OK Button] on the remote to start Channel Scanning. Scanning for available channels could take several minutes.

Programming Your Cable or Satellite Box Remote

Pairing Your TV and Wireless Speakers

Before trying to make any connection, please familiarize yourself with your new wireless speaker's set supplied with your new VIZIO JV50P HDTV. The set consists of two satellite speakers (labeled left with a white connector and right with a red connector) and a subwoofer. The subwoofer acts as the brain of the set. Please take a look at the back side of the subwoofer and notice the following: a three-prong power connector (labeled AC IN ?), two plug-in sockets (labeled SPEAKER), and a small button or switch (labeled CH-SEARCH**, PAIRING).

The AC IN is where power is supplied to the set. The two SPEAKER connectors (towards the bottom right-hand side, labeled LS for left speaker and RS for right speaker) are where the satellite speakers connect by matching the colors. The small button will be the one to keep attention to; it is used (press) when following instructions (Steps) to pairing the TV and Wireless speaker setup.

Pairing Procedure

  1. Using the Remote Control ⚙️, turn the TV set ON ?.
  2. Press the [MENU Key] on the Remote Control. The screen should display a menu window with five icons across the top.
  3. Using the [Right Arrow Key], navigate to the [Audio Icon] (looks like a microphone on a stand). Select it with the [OK Button].
  4. On this menu, check that the Speakers and Wireless Speakers option are selected to be ON. If not, switch them ON by using the [Right Arrow Key] after selecting them individually.
  5. Place the subwoofer 10 to 12 feet away from the TV set, with the subwoofer facing the TV screen.
  6. Turn OFF the TV set ?.
  7. Plug the wireless speaker system power cord into an electrical outlet to power it up.
  8. While pressing and holding down the PAIRING (LINKING) switch [CH-SEARCH/PAIRING Button] at the back of the woofer, turn the TV set ON using the Remote Control ⚙️.
  9. The light indicator ? [*] on the front of the subwoofer will stop flashing and stay ON, indicating that the pairing has been accomplished.
  10. Release the PAIRING (LINKING) switch [CH- নিরাপদ/PAIRING Button] and enjoy the sound.
  11. If pairing (linking) is not successful, please repeat steps 6 through 10.

Note: Please notice that the light indicator ? remains flashing at a slow rate when no signal is being fed to the wireless speaker system.

Note: If wireless transmission interference occurs, simply turn off and then turn on the TV for automatic channel scanning of the next available transmission channel.
