Getting Started

This document provides setup instructions for your new HP computer. It covers initial setup, connecting to networks, accessing important documentation, and understanding warranty and safety information.

Accessing User Guides

User guides and additional information for your HP computer can be accessed in several ways, depending on your operating system:

For the latest information, including how-to topics, updates, accessories, cleaning, Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), and upgrades, visit http://www.hp.com/support and follow the instructions to find your product, then select Manuals.

A User Guides disc may be included with some products.

Connecting to a Network

To connect to a network:

  1. Ensure the AC adapter is connected to the computer before turning it on for the first time.
  2. Select the Network icon in the lower-right corner of the taskbar.
  3. Connect to one of the available networks.

To set up a WLAN and connect to the internet, you will need a broadband modem (DSL or cable, purchased separately), internet service from an internet service provider, and a wireless router (purchased separately).

Locating System Information

System information is provided on the service label or found in one of the following locations: the bottom of the computer, the back of the display, inside the battery bay, or beneath the service door. The label may be in paper form or imprinted on the product. In some Windows products, you can briefly press the fn + esc key combination to display the System Information screen.
