Introduction
This document provides essential information for the installation, operation, and maintenance of Schneider Electric's ComPacT NSX400-630 and NSX400-630 DC PowerPacT L-Frame Motor Mechanisms.
It covers safety precautions, installation procedures for various components and accessories, wiring diagrams, testing, and manufacturing date information.
Safety Warnings
DANGER: HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, EXPLOSION OR ARC FLASH
Failure to follow these instructions will result in death or serious injury.
- Apply appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safe electrical work practices (e.g., NFPA 70E, CSA Z462, NOM-029-STPS).
- Electrical equipment must only be installed, operated, serviced, and maintained by qualified personnel.
- Turn off all power supplying the equipment before working on or inside it.
- Always use a properly rated voltage sensing device to confirm power is off.
- Replace all devices, doors, and covers before turning on power.
- Beware of potential hazards and inspect the work area for tools and objects.
CAUTION: HAZARD OF INJURY
After the MT/MTc motor mechanism is charged, carefully change the settings to auto mode. Failure to follow these instructions can result in injury or equipment damage.
WARNING: FIRE HAZARD
- Use only specified wiring cross-section and comply with wiring requirements.
- Tighten connections to specified torque values.
- Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage.
NOTICE: LOSS OF COMMUNICATION
Mandatory installation of SD auxiliary contact or NSX cord is required for MTc communicating motor mechanisms with BSCM modules. Failure to follow these instructions can result in loss of communication.

1. Required for Installation
This section details the necessary materials and tools for installation.

Note: Always use specified tools for assembly and maintenance.
2. Before Working on Equipment
Follow these steps to ensure power is safely disconnected before performing any work:
- Turn off all power supplying this equipment.
- Use the push-to-trip button [Trip] to trip the device.
- Use a properly rated voltage sensing device to confirm power is off.
3. Installation
3.1 Faceplate / Front Panel
This section details the installation of the faceplate.
Steps:
- Align and attach the faceplate using a [PZ2 Screwdriver].
- Secure the faceplate with screws.
Components:
Diagram shows parts labeled A, B, C corresponding to ComPacT NSX400/630, ComPacT NSX400-630 DC, and PowerPacT L-Frame models.
3.2 SDE Contact Installation
It is mandatory to install the SDE contact before installing the MT motor mechanism. Failure to do so will result in permanent indication of a tripped circuit breaker, even when closed.
Refer to instruction sheet NNZ4314501 for installation of SDE contact (29450 / 29452).
3.3 BSCM Module Installation
It is mandatory to install a BSCM module before installing the MTc communicating motor mechanism. Failure to do so will result in permanent indication of a tripped circuit breaker.
Refer to instruction sheets PKR1891407 (for BSCM MBSL/ULP module LV434220) and GHD16046AA (for BSCM module LV434205) for installation instructions.
3.4 MT (Motor Mechanism) / MTc (Communicating Motor Mechanism) Installation
Follow the numbered steps to install the MT or MTc motor mechanism.
Steps:
- Install mechanism onto the device.
- Engage the mechanism.
- Connect components.
- Use [PZ2 Screwdriver] to secure the mechanism.
- Attach cover.
- Secure cover with screws (CBLZS M4 x 35 and CBLZS M4 x 20) using a [PZ2 Screwdriver], torqued to 2 N·m (17.5 lb-in.).
3.5 MT (Motor Mechanism) / MTc (Communicating Motor Mechanism) + MN (UVR) Installation
Note: MN(UVR) should be installed before mounting the MT/MTc motor mechanism.
Follow the numbered steps for installation.

3.6 MT (Motor Mechanism) / MTc (Communicating Motor Mechanism) + MX (SHT) Installation
Note: MX (SHT) should be installed before mounting the MT/MTc motor mechanism.
Follow the numbered steps for installation.
Refer to MN/MX instruction sheet NNZ4291701 for installation instructions.
4. Wiring
4.1 MT (Motor Mechanism) + SDE Wiring
This section provides wiring diagrams for connecting the SDE contact to the MT motor mechanism.
For 29450:
- Connect wires to terminals 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9 as shown in the diagram.
- Wire cross-section: 0.5–1.5 mm² (20–16 AWG).
For 29452:
- Connect wires to terminals 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9 as shown in the diagram.
- Wire cross-section: 0.75–2.5 mm² (18–14 AWG). Torque: 1.4 N·m (12 lb-in.).

4.2 MTc (Communicating Motor Mechanism) + BSCM MBSL/ULP Wiring
This section details the wiring for connecting the MTc mechanism with the BSCM MBSL/ULP module.
Note: Installation of the SD auxiliary contact (LV434210) or NSX cord is mandatory.
Refer to instruction sheet GHD16256AA for SD auxiliary contact installation.
Refer to instruction sheets GHD16047AA or GHD16313AA for NSX cord installation.
The cable (A) between the BSCM MBSL/ULP and MTc is supplied with the MTc mechanism.

4.3 MTc (Communicating Motor Mechanism) + BSCM Wiring
This section details the wiring for connecting the MTc mechanism with the BSCM module (LV434205).
Note: Installation of the NSX cord is mandatory.

Refer to page 24 for detailed wiring diagrams.
5. Test
Follow the steps to test the mechanism.
- Perform test procedure as shown.
- Engage mechanism.
- Check status (e.g., [Charged], [Discharged]).
- Operate manual/auto settings.
Torque: 1.5 N·m (13.5 lb-in.).
6. Padlocking
Procedure for padlocking the mechanism.
- Follow steps to apply padlock.
- Ensure correct manual/auto setting.
- Use padlock with shackle diameter ⌀ 5–8 mm (3/16–5/16 in.).
7. Transparent Cover Installation
Follow the steps to install the transparent cover.
8. Keylock and Adapter Installation
Refer to instruction sheet GHD16326AA for installing the keylock and adapter.
9. Operations Counter Installation
Refer to instruction sheet GHD16327AA for installing the operations counter.
10. Sealing Accessory Installation
Refer to instruction sheet GHD16296AA for installing the sealing accessory.
