Maytag Dryer Quick Start Guide
Safety Warnings
⚠️ Fire Hazard
No washer can completely remove oil. Do not dry anything that has ever had any type of oil on it (including cooking oils). Items containing foam, rubber, or plastic must be dried on a clothesline or by using an Air Cycle. Failure to follow these instructions can result in death or fire.
⚠️ Explosion Hazard
Keep flammable materials and vapors, such as gasoline, away from dryer. Do not dry anything that has ever had anything flammable on it (even after washing). Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, explosion, or fire.
⚠️ General Safety
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, read the IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS, located in your appliance's Owner's Manual, before operating this appliance.
Getting Started: Quick Steps

Press the POWER/CANCEL button to turn on the dryer control panel.
Step 4: Select Cycle and Settings
Turn the CYCLE CONTROL KNOB to select the desired drying cycle. The LED display will show the selected cycle and its default settings. Adjust settings like temperature or dryness level as needed using the corresponding buttons.
Step 5: Press START/PAUSE
Touch and hold the START/PAUSE button until the LED display counts down "3-2-1" to begin the cycle. To pause the cycle, touch START/PAUSE once. [▶️/⏸️]
Cycle Guide: Normal Cycle
If settings are changed, the new settings will be remembered. If there is a power failure, settings will return to the default. Not all features and cycles are available on all models. Not all settings and options are available on each cycle. Use Sensor Cycle for better fabric care and energy savings. The dryer senses moisture in the load or air temperature and shuts off when the load reaches the selected dryness level. The exact cycle times will vary, depending on the load size and type. Options shown in bold are default settings for that cycle.
Items to Dry | Cycle | "How to Dry" | Description |
---|---|---|---|
Work clothes, casual wear, mixed cottons, sheets, corduroys | Normal | Medium | Uses Medium heat to dry large loads of mixed fabrics and items. Normal is the most efficient cycle. |
Note on Energy Certifications: Government energy certifications were based on the Normal Cycle, Highest Temperature Setting, and More Dryness Level. Cycles available for post-sale download may use more energy than the Normal cycle.

Cycle Status Indicators
Indicators show cycle progress. Not all indicators are available on all models.
- Sensing: Lights during Sensor Cycles to indicate the moisture sensor is operating.
- Wet: The load is still wet and/or the cycle just started.
- Damp: The load still has moisture remaining; a good point to remove garments for air drying or ironing.
- Cool Down: Dryer is tumbling the load without heat to cool it down and reduce wrinkling.
- End: Indicates the selected cycle has ended and the load may be removed. If Wrinkle Prevent is selected, tumbling may continue.
- Check Vent: Available for Sensor Cycles only. Indicates status of airflow. Illuminates if a blocked vent or low airflow issue is detected during the sensing phase. Stays on for the entire cycle if an issue is detected. Refer to online "Troubleshooting" for solutions.
Available Options
Use to select available options for your dryer. Not all cycles and options are available on all models.
- Wrinkle Prevent: Adds up to 150 minutes of periodic tumbling to help reduce wrinkling if the load cannot be removed immediately. On steam models, "+Steam" may be selected to add a short steam cycle after 60 minutes.
- Reduce Static (on some models): Adds moisture to help reduce static. Adds approximately 3 minutes to cycle time.
- Steam (steam models only): Adds steam to the end of certain Sensor Cycles to help smooth wrinkles. Not available on Sanitize, Delicates, Steam Refresh, or Timed Cycles. Adds approximately 15 minutes to cycle time.
- Cycle Signal: Turns the end-of-cycle signal on or off.
- Control Lock: Locks controls to prevent unintended changes. Touch and hold for 3 seconds to lock or unlock. [?] NOTE: May be enabled after a power failure.
- Extra Power: Adds 10 minutes of cycle time (including heat and tumbling) to Sensor and Timed Dry Cycles. The Cycle Control knob illuminates when activated.
