Installation and Wiring
Important Safety Information: The X-CORE indoor controller is not waterproof. It must be installed indoors or in a protected location. Outdoor models are weatherproof. Always follow local electrical codes and consult a qualified electrician for installation.
Controller Components: The controller features a liquid crystal display (LCD), a rotary dial for program selection, and various buttons for setting time, date, and watering parameters.
Wiring:
- Connect zone valve wires to the appropriate terminals.
- Connect the common wire to the 'C' terminal.
- For outdoor models, connect the power supply to the designated terminals. For indoor models, a separate transformer is used.
- Connect weather sensors (Solar Sync, Rain-Clik, Freeze-Clik) to the 'SEN' terminal.
- A master valve can be connected to the 'P' terminal.
- A pump start relay can be connected to the 'P' terminal as well.
Refer to the detailed diagrams in the manual for specific wiring instructions.
Programming the Controller
Setting Time and Date: Use the rotary dial to select the 'Time & Date' setting. Use the '+' and '-' buttons to adjust the flashing values for year, month, day, hour, and minute. Select AM/PM or 24-hour format.
Setting Start Times: Navigate to the 'Start Times' setting. Set up to four start times per program (A, B, or C). The controller automatically sequences the start times.
Setting Run Times: Select the 'Run Times' setting. Adjust the watering duration for each zone from 1 minute to 4 hours.
Setting Watering Days: Choose the watering days using the 'Watering Days' setting. Options include specific days of the week, interval watering, or odd/even day watering.
Seasonal Adjustment: Use the 'Seasonal Adjustment %' setting to modify watering durations based on the season. With Solar Sync, this adjustment is automatic.
Weather Sensor Integration:
- Solar Sync: Connect the Solar Sync sensor to the 'SEN' terminal. The controller will automatically adjust watering based on ET (Evapotranspiration) data. Follow the instructions to set the geographical location and climate factors for accurate ET calculations.
- Rain-Clik/Freeze-Clik: Connect to the 'SEN' terminal. These sensors will suspend watering during rain or freezing conditions.
Disabling Sensors: The rain sensor can be bypassed for specific zones if needed, allowing watering even during rain for those zones.
Troubleshooting
Refer to the troubleshooting guide for common issues such as:
- Irrigation not stopping

- 'NO AC' or 'OFF' messages
- Rain sensor not stopping irrigation
- Controller freezing or displaying incorrect data
- 'ERR' or 'P ERR' messages indicating wiring or component faults
The manual provides detailed steps to diagnose and resolve these problems.
