This manual provides detailed instructions for the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra robotic vacuum cleaner. Please read it carefully before use and store it for future reference.

Safety Information

WARNING

  • Use only with Roborock EWFD07LRR or EWFD08LRR chargers.
  • Keep appliance cords away from the cleaning area.
  • Do not operate the vacuum in rooms with sleeping infants or children.
  • Avoid operating in areas with lit candles or fragile objects on the floor.
  • Do not operate in rooms with lit candles on furniture that the vacuum might bump into.
  • Do not allow children to sit on the vacuum.
  • Do not carry the product by the dock base or dustbin.
  • Place the dock on a flat floor away from fire, heat, and water. Avoid narrow spaces or locations where the robot might be suspended.
  • Ensure the product is switched off and unplugged before cleaning or maintenance.
  • Children aged 8 and above, and persons with reduced capabilities, may use the product under supervision, understanding the hazards. Children should not play with the product, and cleaning/maintenance should be supervised.
  • Do not dismantle, repair, or modify the battery or charging dock.
  • Take protective measures if the dock is in an area susceptible to thunderstorms or unstable voltage.
  • Connect only to a properly grounded outlet.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS

This appliance must be grounded. In case of malfunction, grounding provides a path of least resistance to reduce electric shock risk. The appliance has an equipment-grounding conductor and plug. Insert the plug into a properly installed and grounded outlet according to local codes.

WARNING – Improper grounding can lead to electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician if unsure about outlet grounding. Do not modify the plug; have a proper outlet installed by an electrician if it does not fit.

Grounding Methods

Battery and Charging

  • Keep the charging dock away from heat sources like radiators.
  • Do not wipe charging contacts with wet cloth or hands.
  • Turn the robot off and use original packaging for shipment.
  • For storage, charge the robot fully, turn it off, and store it in a cool, dry place. Recharge at least every three months to prevent battery over-discharge.
  • Do not use the product when the temperature is above 40°C (104°F) or below 4°C (39°F), or if there is liquid or sticky substance on the floor.

Installation

Important Information

  1. Tidy cables and loose items from the ground. Move unstable, fragile, precious, or dangerous items to prevent personal injury or property damage from entanglement, impact, or tipping by the robot.
  2. When using the robot in a raised area, use a secure physical barrier to prevent accidental falls that may result in personal injury or property damage.

Note: For the first use, follow the robot throughout its cleaning route to identify potential problems. The robot will clean autonomously thereafter.

B1 Position the charging dock

  1. Attach the base by pressing down both sides firmly, then pressing the connecting part in the middle until a click is heard.
  2. Connect the power cable to the back of the dock, storing excess cable in the slot.

Diagrams show the correct placement of the charging dock: Sketch shows pressing down sides and middle to attach the base. Another sketch shows connecting the power cable and tucking it into the storage slot.

  • B1-3: Place the dock on a hard, flat floor (wood/tile/concrete) against a wall. Maintain at least 0.7 m (2.3 ft) clearance in front and 0.5 m (1.6 ft) clearance above. Ensure good WiFi reception at the location.
  • B1-4: Clearance: more than 0.5 m (1.6 ft)
  • B1-5: Clearance: more than 0.7 m (2.3 ft)

Notes:

  • Prevent the power cable from hanging vertically to avoid entanglement.
  • The dock indicator is on when powered, off when charging. It turns red for errors.
  • Place the dock away from fire, heat, and water. Avoid narrow spaces or suspended locations.
  • Avoid placing the dock on soft surfaces (carpet/mat) to prevent tilting.
  • Keep the dock away from direct sunlight or anything blocking the location beacon.
  • Do not use the dock without the clean water tank, dirty water tank, high-speed maintenance brush, dustbin, dust bag, or water filter.
  • Maintain the dock as per instructions; do not clean with a wet cloth or tissue.
  • Docks are water-tested; residual water in the waterway is normal.

B2 Power on and charge the robot

Press and hold the power button to turn on the robot. Once the power light is on, place the robot on the dock to charge. The dock power indicator should turn off, and a "charging" voice alert should sound. Keep the robot charged to maintain battery performance.

Note: If the battery is low, the robot may not turn on. Connect it to the dock.

Connecting to the App

This robot supports both Roborock and Mi Home apps. Choose the app that best suits your needs.

1 Download App

Option 1: Search for “Roborock” in the App Store or Google Play, or scan the QR code to download and install.

Option 2: Search for “Mi Home” in the App Store or Google Play, or scan the QR code to download and install.

Two QR codes are shown, one for the Roborock app and one for the Mi Home app.

Instructions

2 Reset WiFi

  1. Open the top cover and locate the WiFi indicator.
  2. Press and hold the [WiFi button] and [Q button] until the “Resetting WiFi” voice alert is heard. The reset is complete when the WiFi indicator flashes slowly, indicating the robot is ready for connection.

Note: If connection fails due to router configuration, forgotten password, or other issues, reset the WiFi and add the robot as a new device.

3 Add device

Open the Roborock App and tap “Scan to Connect”, or open the Mi Home app, tap “+” in the top right corner, and add the device following the app's instructions.

Notes:

  • The process may vary with app updates; follow in-app instructions.
  • Only 2.4 GHz WiFi is supported.
  • If the robot waits over 30 minutes for connection, WiFi will disable. Reset WiFi to reconnect.

Filling the Clean Water Tank

Open the clean water tank, fill it with water, close the lid, lock the latch, and place the tank back.

Notes:

  • Use only Roborock branded floor cleaner in the water tank to prevent corrosion or damage.
  • Do not use hot water to avoid tank deformation.
  • Wipe clean any water marks on the tank before reinstallation.

On/Off

Press and hold the [Power button] to turn on the robot; the power indicator will light up, and the robot enters standby mode. Press and hold the [Power button] again to turn off the robot and complete the cleaning cycle.

Note: The robot cannot be turned off while charging.

Starting Cleaning

Press the [Clean button] to start cleaning. The robot plans its route based on room scans, dividing the room into zones, outlining edges, and cleaning in a zigzag pattern zone by zone.

Notes:

  • Start the robot from the dock for automatic vacuuming and return. Do not move the dock during cleaning.
  • Cleaning requires sufficient battery; charge if low.
  • Areas cleaned in under 10 minutes may be cleaned twice.
  • If battery runs low during cleaning, the robot returns to the dock, charges, and resumes cleaning.
  • When the mop mount is attached, the robot retracts it on carpets. Carpets can also be set as no-go zones in the app.
  • Ensure the VibraRise mop is properly installed before each mopping task.

Spot Cleaning

Press and hold the [Power button] and [Q button] simultaneously to start spot cleaning. The robot cleans a 1.5 m (4.9 ft) x 1.5 m (4.9 ft) square area centered on itself.

Note: After spot cleaning, the robot returns to the starting point and enters Standby mode.

Mop Only

Press the [Q button] to start mopping only. Main brushes lift, and main brushes and fan stop operating. This mode is quieter than traditional cleaning.

Pause

While running, press any button to pause. Press the [Q button] to resume cleaning, or press the [Power button] to send it back to the dock.

Note: Manually placing a paused robot on the dock ends the current cleanup.

Sleep

If the robot is paused for over 10 minutes, it enters sleep mode, and the power indicator flashes periodically. Press any button to wake it.

Notes:

  • The robot does not sleep while charging.
  • The robot automatically shuts down after 12 hours in sleep mode.

Mop Washing

The robot automatically returns to the dock for mop washing and water tank refilling during cleaning to optimize mopping performance. To manually start washing, tap “Wash” in the app or press and hold the [Power button] on the robot. Press any button to stop washing.

Notes:

  • Start the robot from the dock and do not move it during cleaning for automatic mop washing.
  • Mop washing duration and mode can be adjusted in the app.

Emptying

Auto-emptying begins automatically when the robot returns to the dock after cleaning. To manually start emptying, press the [Power button] on the docked robot or tap “Empty” in the app. Press any button to stop emptying.

Notes:

  • If auto-emptying has been unused for a long period, manually empty the dustbin and ensure the air inlet is clear for optimal performance.
  • Auto-emptying can be disabled via the app.
  • Avoid frequent manual emptying.

Drying

Drying starts automatically after mop washing or cleaning. To manually start or stop drying, tap the “Drying” button in the app.

Notes:

  • Drying duration can be adjusted in the app.
  • Auto drying can be disabled via the app.

Charging

After cleaning, the robot automatically returns to the dock to charge. In Pause mode, press the [Power button] to send it back to the dock. The power indicator pulses during charging.

Note: If the robot cannot find the dock, it returns to its starting location. Place it on the dock manually to recharge.

DND Mode

The default Do Not Disturb (DND) period is from 22:00 to 08:00. DND mode can be disabled or the period modified in the app. When DND is active, the robot will not resume cleanup automatically, the power indicator dims, and voice prompt volume lowers.

Child Lock

Press and hold the [Q button] to enable/disable the child lock, or set it in the app. When enabled, the robot ignores button presses when stationary. Press any button to stop the robot during cleaning or docking.

Error

If an error occurs, the robot's power indicator flashes red, or the dock's status indicator is steady red. A notification appears in the app, and a voice alert may sound.

Notes:

  • The robot enters sleep mode automatically if left in a malfunctioning state for over 10 minutes.
  • Placing a malfunctioning robot on the dock manually ends the current cleanup.

System Reset

If the robot is unresponsive, press the Reset button. The robot will reset automatically.

Note: Resetting the system restores scheduled cleaning, WiFi settings, etc., to factory defaults.

Restore Factory Settings

If the robot malfunctions after a system reset, switch it on, then press and hold the [Power button] and the Reset button simultaneously until the “Restoring factory settings” voice prompt is heard. The robot will then be restored to factory settings.

Routine Maintenance

C1 Main Brushes

  • Clean every 2 weeks; replace every 6-12 months.
  • C1-1: Main Brushes
  • C1-2: Main Brush Cover
  • C1-3: Latches
  • C1-4: Main Brush Bearing
  • C1-5: Main Brush Caps
  • C1-6: Turn the robot over and press the latches to remove the main brush cover.
  • C1-7: Remove main brushes and pull out the main brush bearing.
  • C1-8: Pull out the main brush caps.
  • C1-9: After removing tangled hair or dirt from brush ends, reinstall.
  • C1-10: Press the main brush cover until it clicks into place.

Notes:

  • Wipe main brushes with a damp cloth and air dry away from direct sunlight.
  • Do not use corrosive cleaning fluids or disinfectants on main brushes.

C2 Side Brush

  • Clean monthly; replace every 3-6 months.
  • Unscrew the side brush screw.
  • Remove and clean the side brush. Reinstall and tighten the screw.

C3 Omnidirectional Wheel

  • Clean as required.
  • C3-1: Use a small screwdriver to pry out the axle and remove the wheel.

Note: The omnidirectional wheel bracket cannot be removed.

  • C3-2: Rinse the wheel and axle with water to remove hair and dirt. Dry and reattach the wheel firmly.

C4 Main Wheels

  • Clean monthly.
  • Clean main wheels with a soft, dry cloth.

C5 Dustbin

  • Clean as required.
  • C5-1: Open the robot's top cover, press the dustbin latch, and remove the dustbin.
  • C5-2: Press the cover latch to open the dustbin cover, remove the washable filter, and empty the dustbin.
  • C5-3: Fill the dustbin with clean water, close the cover, shake gently, and pour out the dirty water.

Note: Use only clean water without cleaning liquid to prevent blockages.

  • C5-4: Allow the dustbin and washable filter to dry.

C6 Washable Filter

  • Clean every 2 weeks; replace every 6-12 months.
  • C6-1: Open the filter cover and remove the filter.
  • C6-2: Rinse the filter repeatedly and tap to remove dirt.

Note: Avoid touching the filter surface with hands, brushes, or hard objects to prevent damage.

  • C6-3: Allow 24 hours for the filter to dry thoroughly before reinstalling.

Note: Purchase an additional filter for alternation if needed.

C7 VibraRise Mop Cloth

  • Clean after each use; replace every 3-6 months.
  • C7-1: Remove the VibraRise mop cloth from the mount. Clean and air-dry the cloth.

Note: A dirty mop affects mopping performance; clean before use.

C8 Robot Sensors

  • Clean as required.
  • Wipe all sensors with a soft, dry cloth, including:
  • C8-1: Wall Sensor
  • C8-2: Reactive 3D Obstacle Avoidance Sensor
  • C8-3: Carpet Sensor
  • C8-4: Cliff Sensors
  • C8-5: Mop Wash Sensor

C9 Charging Contact Areas

  • Clean as required.
  • Wipe the charging contacts on the robot and dock with a soft dry cloth.

Battery

The robot has a built-in high-performance lithium-ion rechargeable battery. Keep the robot charged during normal use to maintain battery performance.

Note: If the robot is left unused for a long period, turn it off and charge it at least every three months to prevent battery damage from over-discharge.

C10 Moving the Dock

Remove water tanks and dustbin before moving the dock. Grip the handle on the back with one hand and the inner side of the front. Do not grip the base, as it is not designed for lifting.

C11 Dirty Water Tank

  • Clean as required.
  • Open the dirty water tank lid, pour out dirty water. Fill with clean water, close lid, lock, shake, pour out dirty water, close lid, and reinstall.

C12 High-Speed Maintenance Brush

  • Clean as required; replace every 6-12 months.
  • Lift the brush latch, remove the brush. Remove entangled objects and rinse clean. Reinstall the brush and latch.

C13 Water Filter

  • Clean as required.
  • Unlock the water filter, remove it from the dock. Unlock the filter latch, rinse the filter clean. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the cleaning tank, then reinstall the filter. Press down until it clicks.

C14 Replacing the Disposable Dust Bag

  • Replace the dust bag when full.
  • C14-1: Lift the dustbin and remove the bag vertically.

Note: Pulling the dust bag handle seals the bag to prevent leakage.

  • C14-2: Discard the dust bag and clean around the filter with a dry cloth.
  • C14-3: Insert a new dust bag, slide until it reaches the bottom of the slot, and securely reinstall the dustbin.

Note: Always install a dust bag before replacing the dustbin lid to avoid auto-emptying without a bag. Auto-emptying can be disabled in the app.

C15 Cleaning the Air Duct

  • Clean as required.
  • Follow these steps to clean the air duct and avoid blockages:
  • C15-1: Remove the clean water tank, dirty water tank, and dustbin.
  • C15-2: Remove the water filter and wipe off any water marks with a cloth.
  • C15-3: Grasp the dock base sides upwards to disassemble and check for blockages. Clean the air inlet with a cotton swab if blocked, then wipe with a dry cloth.
  • C15-4: Carefully place the dock upside down on a hard floor covered with a soft towel.
  • C15-5: Unscrew the three screws and remove the cover.
  • C15-6: Wipe the air duct and duct cover with a dry cloth.
  • C15-7: Reinstall the cover and screw it back in place.

Environment Protection Information

Removing the Battery

Note: This information applies only to product disposal and not for daily operations.

The lithium-ion battery contains chemicals that can cause environmental pollution. Remove the battery before disposing of the product and hand it to a professional battery recycling facility.

  1. Operate the robot without the dock until its battery is depleted.
  2. Turn off the robot.
  3. Unscrew and remove the battery cover.
  4. Press the latch to pull out the battery connector and remove the battery.

Notes:

  • Ensure the battery is fully drained before removal. Do not attempt removal if the robot is connected to the dock.
  • Remove the entire battery pack. Avoid damaging the casing to prevent short-circuits or hazardous substance leakage.
  • In case of accidental contact with battery fluid, rinse thoroughly with water and seek immediate medical care.

Common Issues

Problem: Unable to power on

Solution: Battery level is low; place on charging dock. Battery temperature is too low or too high; use within 4-40°C (39-104°F).

Problem: Unable to charge

Solution: Check power indicator and cable connections. Clean charging contacts on the dock and robot if contact is poor.

Problem: Slow charging

Solution: Robot may reduce charging speed at high/low temperatures to extend battery life. Charging contacts may be dirty; wipe with a dry cloth.

Problem: Unable to dock

Solution: Too many obstacles near the dock; move it to an open area. Robot is too far from the dock; place it closer and retry.

Problem: Abnormal behavior

Solution: Restart the robot.

Problem: Noise during cleaning

Solution: Main brushes, side brush, main wheels, or omnidirectional wheel may be jammed; turn off and clean. VibraRise system may be abnormal; check for jammed objects.

Problem: Unable to connect to WiFi

Solution: WiFi is disabled; reset WiFi and try again. WiFi signal is poor; move to an area with good reception. Abnormal WiFi connection; reset WiFi, download the latest app, and retry. Ensure your Roborock model is supported by the app. Router settings might be causing issues; contact Roborock customer service.

Problem: Poor cleaning ability or dust falling out

Solution: Dustbin is full; empty it. Filter is blocked; clean it. Main brushes are jammed; clean them.

Problem: Scheduled cleaning is not working

Solution: Keep the robot charged. Scheduled cleaning requires battery level above 20%.

Problem: Is power always being drawn when the robot is on the charging dock?

Solution: The robot draws minimal power while docked to maintain battery performance.

Problem: Does the robot need to be charged for at least 16 hours the first three times it is used?

Solution: No, the robot can be used anytime after it is fully charged.

Problem: No or little water during mopping

Solution: Check water tank level. Use the mobile app to set scrub intensity or refer to the manual for correct mop cloth and mount installation.

Problem: Cleaning does not resume after recharging

Solution: Ensure the robot is not in DND mode. If manually placed on the dock for a top-up charge during cleaning, it may not resume automatically.

Problem: The robot cannot return to the charging dock after spot cleaning or when it has been moved manually

Solution: After spot cleaning or significant position changes, the robot regenerates the map. If the dock is too far, it may need manual placement on the dock for recharging.

Problem: The robot has begun to miss certain spots

Solution: Wall sensor or cliff sensors may be dirty; wipe them with a soft dry cloth. Dustbin or dust bag may not be in place; check and correct installation. Voltage error; check local voltage requirements. Clean water tank or dirty water tank placement/refill. Ensure the water filter is correctly installed.

Problem: The LED status indicator light on the dock is steady red.

Solution: Voltage error; check local voltage requirements. Check clean water tank placement or refill. Check dirty water tank placement or empty. Check water filter installation.

Problem: Reduced emptying performance or unusual noise when emptying.

Solution: Main brushes or cover may not be properly installed; check and correct. Filter, air duct, suction inlet, air inlet, or dustbin may be blocked; clean to remove blockages.

Problem: Robot voice alert: Error 42. Maintenance brush jammed. Clean it and remove blockages.

Solution: If the brush stops on the left, it may be jammed. If it stops on the right, the filter may be blocked or improperly installed. Clean and correct installation.

Problem: Reduced mop washing performance.

Solution: Mop may not be attached properly; reinstall. Floor may be dirty; change mop washing mode to “Deep” in the app.

Problem: Auto-emptying is not working.

Solution: Auto-emptying may be disabled in app settings. Dock dustbin may not be installed. Auto-emptying does not trigger if the robot returns without cleaning. The robot will not auto-empty in DND mode; adjust cleaning/DND duration or empty manually.

Problem: The mop is not washed.

Solution: Mop will not wash if not used. Robot may not return to the dock for washing if it did not start from the dock or the dock is not found on the app map. Check tank placement and refill/empty. Ensure water filter is correctly installed.

Problem: Poor drying effect.
