Monitor relief valve discharge with smart and connected technology for flood protection. The BMS Flood Sensor Retrofit Connection Kit upgrades existing installations by integrating and activating the flood sensor to enable functions for flood detection. When a qualifying relief valve discharge occurs, the flood sensor energizes a relay signaling flood detection and triggers real-time notification of potential flood conditions through the building management system.

Kit Components
The retrofit connection kit for installing and activating the flood sensor includes the items shown below. If any item is missing, speak with your account representative about ordering code 88009415.

Install the Flood Sensor and Activation Module
Attach the flood sensor and the activation module to the backflow relief valve. The activation module receives a signal from the flood sensor when a discharge is detected. If the discharge meets the conditions of a qualifying event, the normally open contact is closed to provide a signal to the BMS input terminal.
Custom Flood Sensor Settings
Activation module switch settings can be customized to specify the wet threshold (sensitivity to water discharge) and the timer delay (duration before alarm). Scan the QR code for more information.

1. Position the flood sensor on the relief valve.

2. For each side of the sensor, put the washer on the head of the bolt, thread the bolt from the bottom, and hand-tighten the nut to the bolt.

3. Use the two wrenches to tighten the hardware securing the sensor to the valve.

4. Remove the dust cover from the sensor.

5. Press the activation module onto the sensor.

6. Check that the module is fully seated to seal the O-ring and to make electrical contact.
NOTICE
Retain the dust cover to protect the flood sensor when the activation module needs to be removed or replaced.

Attach the Activation Module Cable to the BMS Controller
The 4-conductor activation module cable should be attached to the BMS controller to transmit a normally open contact signal and provide power to the module. The contact signal closes when a discharge is detected.

To connect the cable to the controller
1. Use the wire stripper to cut away enough insulation to expose 1 to 2 inches of the conductor wires.
2. Insert the white and green wires into the input terminal.
NOTICE
Either the BMS power source (ranging from 12V to 24V) or the 24V DC power adapter provided can be used. With each power source, an earth ground connection is required. If using the optional power adapter, skip to the next set of instructions. Be sure to use the ground wire provided if there is no other earth ground on the BMS controller.
3. Insert the red wire in the power terminal. (A power source ranging from 12V to 24V is required.)
4. Insert the black wire in the ground terminal.

To use the optional 24V DC power adapter
Distinguish the positive wire from the negative one. The positive wire has white stripes and must be inserted into the power terminal; the negative wire, into the ground terminal.

! WARNING
The earth ground must be connected to the BMS controller before the flood sensor is put in operation.

1. Connect the positive power adapter wire (black with white stripe) to the red wire of the activation module cable and insert the wires into the power terminal.
2. Connect the negative power adapter wire (black with no stripe) to both the black wire of the activation module cable and the ground wire (if needed) then insert the wires into the ground terminal.
3. Plug the power adapter into a 120VAC, 60Hz, GFIprotected electrical outlet.
The flood sensor LED is steady green when the unit is ready.

Installation du capteur d’inondation et du module d’activation du capteur
Fixez le capteur d’inondation et le module d’activation du capteur à la soupape de décharge de refoulement. Le module d’activation du capteur reçoit un signal du capteur d’inondation lorsqu’une décharge est détectée. Si la décharge répond aux conditions d’un événement admissible, le contact normalement ouvert est fermé pour fournir un signal à la borne d’entrée du BMS.
Réglages personnalisés du détecteur d’inondation
Les paramètres du commutateur du module d’activation peuvent être réglés pour indiquer le seuil d’humidité (sensibilité à la décharge d’eau) et le retard de minuterie (durée avant le déclenchement de l’alarme). Balayez le code QR pour plus d’informations.

1. Placez le capteur d’inondation sur la soupape de décharge.

2. Pour chaque côté du capteur, placez la rondelle sur la tête du boulon, vissez le boulon à partir du bas et serrez l’écrou à la main sur le boulon.

3. Utilisez les deux clés pour serrer le matériel fixant le capteur à la vanne.

4. Retirez le couvercle antipoussière du capteur.

5. Enfoncez le module d’activation sur le capteur.

6. Vérifiez que le module est bien en place pour sceller le joint torique et pour établir un contact électrique.
AVIS
Conservez le couvercle antipoussière pour protéger le capteur d’inondation lorsque le module d’activation doit être retiré ou remplacé.

Fixez le câble du module d’activation de capteur au boîtier de commande du BMS

Le câble du module d’activation à 4 fils conducteurs doit être fixé au contrôleur du BMS pour transmettre un signal de contact normalement ouvert et alimenter le module d’activation du capteur. Le signal de contact se ferme lorsqu’une décharge est détectée.

Pour connecter le câble du module au contrôleur
1. Utilisez la pince à dénuder pour couper suffisamment d’isolant pour exposer de 1 à 2 po (2,5 à 5 cm) des fils conducteurs.
2. Insérez les fils blanc et vert dans la borne d’entrée.

Pour utiliser l’adaptateur d’alimentation 24 V CC en option
Distinguez le fil positif du fil négatif. Le fil positif a des bandes blanches et doit être inséré dans la borne d’alimentation; le fil négatif, dans la borne de terre.

AVIS
La source d’alimentation du BMS (de 12 V à 24 V) ou l’adaptateur d’alimentation 24 V CC fourni peuvent être utilisés. Avec chaque source d’alimentation, un fil de masse est requis. Si vous utilisez l’adaptateur d’alimentation en option, passez au prochain jeu d’instructions. Assurez-vous d’utiliser le fil de mise à la terre fourni s’il n’y a pas d’autre fil de masse sur le contrôleur du BMS.
3. Insérez le fil rouge dans la borne d’alimentation. (Une source d’alimentation de 12 V à 24 V est requise.)
4. Insérez le fil noir dans la borne de terre.

! AVERTISSEMENT
Le fil de mise à la terre doit être connecté au contrôleur du BMS avant que le capteur d’inondation ne soit mis en marche.

1. Connectez le fil positif de l’adaptateur d’alimentation (noir avec rayure blanche) au fil rouge du câble du module d’activation de capteur et insérez les fils dans la borne d’alimentation.
2. Connectez le fil négatif de l’adaptateur d’alimentation (noir sans rayure) au fil noir du câble du module d’activation de capteur et au fil de mise à la terre (au besoin), puis insérez les fils dans la borne de terre.
3. Branchez l’adaptateur d’alimentation dans une prise électrique protégée par disjoncteur de fuite de terre de 120 V CA, 60 Hz.
La DEL du capteur d’inondation est verte lorsque l’appareil est prêt.

Instalación del sensor de inundación y módulo de activación
Conecte el sensor de inundación y el módulo de activación a la válvula de alivio del contraflujo. El módulo de activación recibe una señal del sensor de inundación integrado cuando se detecta la descarga. Si la descarga cumple las condiciones de un evento calificado, el contacto normalmente abierto se cierra para proporcionar una señal a la terminal de entrada del BMS.
Configuración personalizada del sensor de inundación
Los ajustes del interruptor del módulo de activación se pueden personalizar para especificar el límite húmedo (sensibilidad a la descarga de agua) y el retraso del temporizador (duración antes de la alarma). Escanee el código QR para obtener más información.

1. Coloque el sensor de inundación en la válvula de alivio.

2. Para cada lado del sensor, coloque la arandela en la cabeza del perno, enrosque el perno desde la parte inferior y apriete a mano la tuerca al perno.

3. Utilice las dos llaves para apretar la tornillería que sujeta el sensor a la válvula.

4. Retire la cubierta antipolvo del sensor.

Conecte el cable del módulo de activación al controlador BMS

El cable del módulo de activación de 4 conductores debe conectarse al controlador BMS para transmitir una señal de contacto normalmente abierta y proporcionar alimentación al módulo. La señal de contacto se cierra cuando se detecta una descarga.

Para conectar el cable al controlador
1. Use el pelacables para retirar suficiente aislamiento para exponer de 1 a 2 in (2.5 a 5 cm) de los cables conductores.
2. Inserte los cables blanco y verde en la terminal de entrada.

Para usar el adaptador de alimentación de 24 V CC opcional
Distinga el hilo positivo del negativo. El cable positivo tiene rayas blancas y debe insertarse en la terminal de alimentación; el cable negativo, en la terminal de tierra.

Si usa el adaptador de alimentación opcional, pase al siguiente conjunto de instrucciones. Asegúrese de usar el cable de tierra proporcionado si no hay otra toma de tierra en el controlador del BMS.
3. Inserte el cable rojo en la terminal de alimentación. (Se requiere una fuente de alimentación de 12 V a 24 V.)
4. Inserte el cable negro en la terminal de tierra.

! ADVERTENCIA
La tierra debe estar conectada al controlador del BMS antes de poner en operación el sensor de inundación.

1. Conecte el cable del adaptador de alimentación positivo (negro con raya blanca) al cable rojo del cable del módulo de activación e inserte los cables en la terminal de alimentación.
2. Conecte el cable del adaptador de alimentación negativo (negro sin raya) al cable negro del cable del módulo de activación y al cable de tierra (si es necesario), luego inserte los cables en la terminal de tierra.
3. Conecte el adaptador de alimentación a una toma de corriente de 120 V CA, 60 Hz con protección GFI.
El LED del sensor de inundación se observa verde fijo cuando la unidad está lista.
