TV Stand Placement

Wall Mount

Sonos offers a custom-designed Sonos Ray Wall Mount (sold separately). Refer to "Wall mount" for more information.

Connect the Cables

Before starting:

  1. Connect the power cord and plug in the soundbar. Use only the supplied power cord.
  2. Remove the protective cap from the optical cable and connect it to the soundbar's optical port.
  3. Remove the protective cap from the optical cable and connect it to your TV's optical digital OUT port. The TV's optical adapter port is "D-shaped"; ensure correct alignment to avoid cable damage.

Home Theater

Sonos products enhance TV sound and music playback. Create a home theater system by adding rear surrounds and a Sub.

Home Theater Settings

Adjust sound settings and speaker behavior via the Sonos app.

Set up Surround Speakers

Turn two Sonos speakers or a Sonos Amp and non-Sonos speakers into separate right and left channels for your home theater.

  1. Place surround speakers about 10 ft from the listening position, angled towards the seating area.
  2. Navigate to [System], and pick the room you want to tune.
  3. Select a room with a soundbar and choose "Add Surrounds".

Note: Grouping rooms or creating a stereo pair will disable surround sound.

Surround Audio Settings

Surround sound is optimized during setup and adjustable:

SettingDescription
SurroundsTurn surround sound On or Off.
TV LevelAdjust surround volume for TV audio.
Music LevelAdjust surround volume for music.
Music PlaybackChoose between Ambient (subtle) or Full (louder, full range). Not applicable to Dolby Atmos Music playback.

Trueplay™

Trueplay tuning measures room acoustics and fine-tunes Sonos speakers for optimal sound. It requires an iOS device (iOS 8 or later). During tuning, move around the room with your mobile device.

  1. Select [System], and pick the room you want to tune.
  2. Select "Trueplay Tuning".

Auto Trueplay

Portable Sonos products (e.g., Sonos Roam, Move) tune themselves automatically using the speaker's microphone. This allows for periodic tuning adjustments for great sound anywhere.

Navigate to [System] and select your portable speaker to enable auto Trueplay.

Product Settings

Customize Sonos products via the Sonos app by going to [System] and selecting a product.

  1. If your TV is wall-mounted, align the top edge of the bracket with the bottom of your TV, leaving at least 2.5 inches (mm) between them.
  2. Mark the screw locations and remove the bracket.
  3. If using wall anchors, drill pilot holes with a 5/16" drill bit, starting with the left hole. Insert wall anchors. Do not use wall anchors in wood or plastic. Refer to "Wall mounting information".
  4. Position the wall mount bracket over the screw locations, using a level for accuracy. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver or power drill to attach the bracket to the wall, ensuring the center notch points up.
  5. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, fasten the 2 attachment screws to the back of the soundbar, ensuring they are fully tightened.
  6. Remove the protective cap from the optical cable, then connect the power and optical cables to the back of the soundbar.
