Installation Steps
The following steps detail the process of replacing the fan bearing. Visual aids are described for each step.
Step 1: Loosen and Remove Cover
Visual Aid (Page 7): A hand uses a Torx T20 screwdriver to loosen four screws. Blue circles highlight the screw locations. The electronics unit is then lifted off, followed by the cover over the bearing.
- Release 4 screws with TX20 screwdriver.
- Lift off the electronics unit.
- Detach the loose cover over the bearing.
Step 2: Remove Old Bearing and Stator
Visual Aid (Page 8): Pliers are used to remove a circlip from the shaft (Ø8.0mm, ring thickness 0.75mm). Caution is advised as the ring can be easily damaged. The stator is then lifted out.
- Remove the circlip. Shaft Ø8.0mm, ring thickness 0.75mm. Be careful here, as it is easy to damage the ring.
- Lift out the stator.
- Press the bearing out manually. Note: Only do this manually.
Step 3: Install New Bearing and Reassemble Stator
Visual Aid (Page 9): A new bearing (SKF 608-2RSH, Ø 22mm, Ø 8mm, width 7mm) is inserted onto the shaft. The stator is then replaced in the fan.
- Insert the new bearing Ø 22mm, Ø 8mm, width 7mm. SKF 608-2RSH.
- Replace the stator in the fan.
- Remount the circlip. The stator will need to be pressed down.
Visual Aid (Page 9): Circlip pliers are used to remount the circlip.
Step 4: Reconnect Electronics and Reassemble Housing
Visual Aid (Page 10): The cover is placed back onto the unit. The electronics unit is reinstalled, ensuring its pin aligns with the hole in the stator. The four screws are retightened.
- Replace the cover.
- Replace the electronics unit, making sure not to bend the contact pin.
- The pin in the electronics unit must be inserted in the hole in the stator.
- Retighten the four screws.
- Remount the fan in the housing. Use acrylic sealant where this was used before. Pop rivet the mandrel in place where this was removed.
Visual Aid (Page 11): A hand uses a screwdriver to retighten screws, confirming the final assembly step.
