Overview of the main unit

1 LED indicator: Standby indicator: turns red when this product is switched to standby. Bluetooth/Auracast indicator: turns blue to indicate the Bluetooth/Auracast connection status.

2 [Power Button]: Switch this product on or to standby.

3 Display panel: Show current status.

4 Disc compartment

5 [Open/Close Disc Button]: Open or close the disc compartment.

6 [Play/Pause Button]: Start or pause play.

7 [Stop/Erase Button]: Stop play. Erase a program.

8 [Skip Back Button]: Skip to previous/next track. Search within a track/disc. Tune to a radio station. Adjust time.

9 SOURCE/BT PAIR Button: Press to select a source: DISC, BT, AURACAST, FM, USB, AUDIO IN. In Bluetooth mode, press and hold for more than 2 seconds to disconnect the currently connected device and enter pairing mode.

10 AUDIO IN: Connect external audio devices.

11 USB Port: Connect USB storage devices.

12 Volume knob: Adjust volume.

Overview of the remote control

1 [Power Button]: Switch this product on or to standby.

2 CD Button: Select CD source.

3 FM Button: Select FM source.

4 [Skip Back/Forward Buttons]: Skip to the previous/next track. Search within a track/disc/USB.

5 MODE Button: Select shuffle mode to play tracks randomly. Select repeat mode to play a track or all tracks repeatedly. Select Stereo and Mono sound.

6 ALBUM/PRESET Buttons: Select a preset radio station. Skip to previous/next album.

7 INFO Button: Display playback information.

8 SLEEP/TIMER Button: Set sleep timer. Set alarm timer.

9 CLOCK Button: Set the clock. View clock information. In standby, press and hold to toggle clock display on or off.

10 PROG/SCAN Button: Program tracks. Program radio stations. Auto store radio stations.

11 [Mute Button]: Mute or restore volume.

12 [Volume +/- Buttons]: Adjust volume.

13 DIM Button: Adjust display brightness.

14 [Stop/Erase Button]: Stop play or erase a program.

15 [Play/Pause Button]: Press to start, pause, or resume play.

16 USB/AUDIO IN Button: Select USB source. Select AUDIO IN source.

17 [Pairing Button]: Select Bluetooth source. In Bluetooth mode, press and hold for more than 2 seconds to enter pairing mode or disconnect the current connected device.

3 Get started

Always follow the instructions in this chapter in sequence.

Connect speakers

? Note:

• Insert the stripped portion of each speaker wire into the socket completely.
• For better sound quality, use the supplied speakers only.

1. Connecting one speaker, find the sockets on the back of the main unit marked "R".
2. Insert the red wire into the red (+) socket, and the black wire into the black (-) socket.
3. Connecting another speaker, find the sockets on the main unit marked "L".
4. Repeat step 2 to insert the left speaker wire.

To insert each speaker wire:

1. Hold down the socket flap.
2. Insert the speaker wire fully.
3. Release the socket flap.

Connect power

Connect the power cable to the wall socket.

Prepare the remote control

To insert the remote control battery:

1. Open the battery compartment.
2. Insert the supplied AAA battery with correct polarity (+/-) as indicated.
3. Close the battery compartment.

App download

Scan the QR code and press “Download” button, or search “Philips Entertainment” in the Apple App Store or Google Play to download the app.

The Philips Entertainment App puts you in charge of the music you are listening to. You can use your smart device to easily choose the sound style you want, switch between sources, and more.

Power on

Press [Power Button]. The product switches to the last selected source.

Switch to standby mode

Press [Power Button] again to switch the product to standby with no clock display, or to standby with clock display.

The red standby indicator lights up.

In standby, you may press and hold [Clock Button] to toggle clock display on or off.

? Note:

• The product switches to standby mode after 15 minutes inactive.
• To achieve efficient energy saving performance, unplug any external electronic device from the USB port when the device is not in use.

To cancel time setting and without saving: Press [Button] or no button pressed for 30sec.

? Note:

• To view clock in power on mode, press briefly [Clock Button].
• In standby, you may press and hold [Clock Button] to toggle clock display on or off.
• If clock display is turned on in standby, power consumption increases.

Set the clock

1. In power on mode, press and hold [Clock Button] for more than 2 seconds to enter the clock setting mode. [24H] or [12H] is displayed.
2. Press [Skip Back/Forward Buttons] to select 24H or 12H hour format, and then press [Clock Button]. The hour digits begin to blink.
3. Press [Skip Back/Forward Buttons] to set the hour, and then press [Clock Button]. The minute digits begin to blink.
4. Press [Skip Back/Forward Buttons] to set the minute, and then press [Clock Button]. The clock is set.

4 Play

Play from disc

1. Press [CD Button] to select CD source, or press source button on main unit to switch to DISC source.
2. Press [Open/Close Disc Button] to open the disc compartment.
3. Insert a disc with the label side up.
4. Press [Open/Close Disc Button] to close the disc compartment.

Play starts automatically. If not, press [Play/Pause Button].

Control play

Play from USB

? Note: Make sure that the USB device contains playable audio content.

1. Insert a USB device into the USB port.
2. Press [USB Button] to select the USB source, or press source button on main unit to switch to USB source.
3. Play starts automatically. If not, press [Play/Pause Button].

Skip tracks

For CD: Press [Skip Back/Forward Buttons] to select tracks.

For MP3 disc and USB:

1. Press [Album/Preset Buttons] to select an album or a folder.
2. Press [Skip Back/Forward Buttons] to select a track or a file.

Program tracks

This function allows you to program 20 tracks in the desired sequence.

1. In stop mode, press [Program/Scan Button] to activate the program mode. [P01] is displayed.
2. For MP3 tracks, press [Album/Preset Buttons] to select an album.
3. Press [Skip Back/Forward Buttons] to select a track, and then press [Program/Scan Button] to confirm.
4. Repeat steps 2 to 3 to program more tracks.
5. Press [Play/Pause Button] to play the programmed tracks.

To erase the program: Press [Stop/Erase Button] twice.

Play from Bluetooth enabled devices

? Note:

• Compatibility with all Bluetooth devices is not guaranteed.
• Any obstacle between the unit and the device can reduce the operational range.
• The effective operation range between this unit and your Bluetooth enabled device is approximately 30 meters.
• The unit can memorize up to 8 previously connected Bluetooth devices.

1. Press [Bluetooth Button] to select the Bluetooth source, or press source button on main unit to switch to BT source. [BT] (Bluetooth) is displayed. The Bluetooth indicator blinks blue.
2. On your device that supports Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP), enable Bluetooth and search for Bluetooth devices that can be paired (refer to the user manual of the device).
3. Select "Philips TAM3205M2" on your Bluetooth enabled device.

If you fail to find "Philips TAM3205M2” or cannot pair with this product, press and hold [BT PAIR Button] on the product or [Pairing Button] on the remote control for more than 2 seconds to enter pairing mode.

After successful pairing and connection, the Bluetooth indicator turns solid blue, and you will hear the prompt sound from the unit.

Play audio on the connected device. Audio streams from your Bluetooth enabled device to this product.

To disconnect the Bluetooth-enabled device:

• Deactivate Bluetooth on your device.
• Press and hold [BT PAIR Button] on the product or [Pairing Button] on the remote control for 2 seconds to enter pairing mode.

Play from Auracast

You can broadcast your music to this product or any other Auracast-compatible products.

1. Press source button on main unit to switch to Auracast source. [AURACAST RCV] is displayed. The blue indicator blinks.
2. If you enter Auracast source for the first time or if the station list is empty, the product performs a full scan automatically. [Scanning] is displayed. The micro system will automatically search for nearby Auracast broadcasts and connect to the unencrypted broadcast with the strongest signal.
3. On your mobile device or dongle that supports Auracast, follow the instruction to enable Auracast broadcast.
4. After successful connection, the blue indicator turns solid and you will hear the prompt sound from the micro system.
5. Auracast source name is displayed.
6. Select and play audio from your Auracast enabled mobile device or dongle to this product.
7. Follow the Auracast connection on any additional Auracast-compatible products you want to include.

To disconnect Auracast, you can:

• Switch the product to another source.
• Deactivate Auracast broadcast on your mobile device or dongle.

Manually scan Auracast broadcast

Press and hold [Program/Scan Button] for more than 3 seconds. The micro system scans all nearby Auracast broadcasts. After scan, the strongest signal Auracast is broadcast.

Select Auracast broadcast

Press [Skip Back/Forward Buttons] to select an Auracast broadcast.

? Note: Only unencrypted broadcast is selected and encrypted broadcast is skipped.

5 Listen to FM radio

Tune to a radio station

? Tip:

• Position the FM antenna as far as possible from TV, or other radiation source.
• For optimal reception, fully extend and adjust the position of the FM antenna.

1. Press [FM Button] to select FM source.
2. Press and hold [Skip Back/Forward Buttons] for more than 2 seconds.
3. The radio tunes to a station with strong reception automatically.
4. Repeat step 2 to tune to more stations.

To tune to a weak station: Press [Skip Back/Forward Buttons] repeatedly until you find optimal reception.

Store radio stations automatically

? Note: You can store a maximum of 20 FM radio stations.

1. Press [FM Button] to select FM source.
2. Press and hold [Program/Scan Button] for more than 2 seconds.
3. All available stations are programmed in the order of waveband reception strength.
4. The first programmed radio station is broadcast automatically.

Store radio stations manually

1. Tune to an FM radio station.
2. Press [Program/Scan Button] to activate program mode. [P01] is displayed.
3. Press [Album/Preset Buttons] to allocate a number from 1-20 to this radio station, and then press [Program/Scan Button] to confirm.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 to program more stations.

? Note: To overwrite a programmed station, store another station in its place.

Select a preset radio station

In FM mode, press [Album/Preset Buttons] to select a preset number.

While listening to FM radio, you may press [Mode Button] to toggle stereo and mono sound.

Display RDS information

RDS (Radio Data System) is a service that allows FM stations to show additional information.

1. Tune to an FM radio station.
2. Press [Info Button] repeatedly to display various RDS information (if available), such as station name, program type, time, etc.

6 Adjust sound

The following operations are applicable to all supported media.

Select a preset sound effect

Press [Sound Button] repeatedly to select a preset sound effect.

Adjust volume level

• On the remote control, press [Volume +/- Buttons] repeatedly.
• On the main unit, rotate the volume knob.

Mute sound

Press [Mute Button] to mute or unmute the sound.

7 Other features

Set the alarm timer

This product can be used as an alarm clock. You can select the disc, radio, or .mp3 files on a USB storage device as alarm source.

? Note:

• Alarm timer is not available in AUDIO IN mode.
• If CD/USB source is selected, but no disc is placed or no USB device is connected, the radio source is selected automatically.

1. Make sure that you have set the clock.
2. In standby mode, press and hold [Sleep/Timer Button] for more than 2 seconds. The hour digits blink.
3. Press [Skip Back/Forward Buttons] repeatedly to set the hour, and then press [Sleep/Timer Button] to confirm. The minute digits blink.
4. Press [Skip Back/Forward Buttons] to set the minute, and then press [Sleep/Timer Button] to confirm. The last selected alarm source blinks.
5. Press [Skip Back/Forward Buttons] to select an alarm source (disc, USB or FM radio), and then press [Sleep/Timer Button] to confirm. XX blinks (XX indicates the volume level of alarm).
6. Press [Skip Back/Forward Buttons] to set the alarm volume, and then press [Sleep/Timer Button] to confirm.

Activate/deactivate alarm timer

In standby mode, press [Sleep/Timer Button] repeatedly to activate or deactivate timer. If timer is activated, TIMER is displayed.

In standby, you may press and hold [Clock Button] to toggle clock display on or off.

Set the sleep timer

This music system can switch to standby automatically after a set period of time.

• When the music system is turned on, press [Sleep/Timer Button] repeatedly to select a set period of time (in minutes). When sleep timer is activated, SLEEP is displayed.

To deactivate sleep timer:

• Press [Sleep/Timer Button] repeatedly until [OFF] (sleep off) is displayed. When sleep timer is deactivated, SLEEP disappears.

Listen to an external device

You can listen to an external device through this unit with an MP3 link cable.

1. Connect an MP3 link cable (not supplied) between: AUDIO IN jack (3.5 mm) on the product. And the headphone jack on an external device.
2. Press [AUDIO IN Button] repeatedly to select AUDIO IN Source.
3. Start to play the device (see the device user manual).

Upgrade Firmware

To get the best features and support, update your product with the latest firmware version.

The firmware for MCU can be upgraded to the latest version via Philips Entertainment app.

Please go to Firmware Update and press Download & Update. If the upgrade is released, the Download & Upgrade icon can be pressed to proceed automatically.

Once this product is connected to Philips Entertainment app, it can receive over-the-air firmware update. Always upgrade with the latest firmware version to improve the performance of this product.

Factory reset

Reset device to default setting.

When the device is power on, press and hold [Play/Pause Button] and [Stop/Erase Button] buttons for 5 seconds in AUDIO IN source at VOLUME 2.

The device is restored to factory defaults and enters standby mode.

9 Troubleshooting

To keep the warranty valid, never try to repair the system yourself.

If you encounter problems when using this device, check the following points before requesting service. If the problem remains unsolved, go to the Philips Web page (www.philips.com/support). When you contact Philips, make sure that the device is nearby and the model number and serial number are available.

No power

• Make sure that the AC power cord of the device is connected properly.
• Make sure that there is power at the AC outlet.
• As a power-saving feature, the system switches off automatically 15 minutes after track play reaches the end and no control is operated.

No sound or poor sound

• Adjust the volume.
• Check that the speakers are connected correctly.
• Check if the stripped speaker wires are clamped.

No response from the unit

• Disconnect and reconnect the AC power plug, then turn on the unit again.
• As a power-saving feature, the system switches off automatically 15 minutes after track play reaches the end and no control is operated.

Remote control does not work

• Before you press any function button, first select the correct source with the remote control instead of the main unit.
• Reduce the distance between the remote control and the unit.
• Insert the battery with its polarities (+/- signs) aligned as indicated.
• Replace the battery.
• Aim the remote control directly at the sensor on the front of the unit.

No disc detected

• Insert a disc.
• Check if the disc is inserted upside down.
• Wait until the moisture condensation at the lens has cleared.
• Replace or clean the disc.
• Use a finalized CD or correct format disc.

Cannot display some files in USB device

• The number of folders or files in the USB device has exceeded a certain limit. This phenomenon is not a malfunction.
• The formats of these files are not supported.

USB device not supported

• The USB device is incompatible with the unit. Try another one.

Poor radio reception

• Increase the distance between the unit and your TV or other radiation sources.
• Fully extend the radio antenna.

Music playback is unavailable on this unit even after successful Bluetooth connection.

• The device cannot be used to play music through this unit wirelessly.

The audio quality is poor after connection with a Bluetooth-enabled device.

• The Bluetooth reception is poor. Move the device closer to this unit or remove any obstacle between them.

Bluetooth cannot be connected with this unit.

• The device does not support the profiles required for this unit.
• The Bluetooth function of the device is not enabled. Refer to the user manual of the device to find out how to enable the function.
• This unit is not in pairing mode.
• This unit is already connected with another Bluetooth-enabled device. Disconnect that device and then try again.

The paired mobile device connects and disconnects constantly.

• The Bluetooth reception is poor. Move the device closer to this unit or remove any obstacle between them.
• Some mobile phones may connect and disconnect constantly when you make or end calls. This does not indicate any malfunction of this unit.
• For some devices, the Bluetooth connection may be deactivated automatically as a power-saving feature. This does not indicate any malfunction of this unit.

Timer does not work

• Set the clock correctly.
• Switch on the timer.

Clock/timer setting erased

• Power has been interrupted or the power cord has been disconnected.
• Reset the clock/timer.

How to keep clock display on or off in standby?

In standby, press and hold [Clock Button] to toggle clock display on or off.
