WARNING
Always follow basic precautions to avoid serious injury or death from electrical shock, short-circuiting, damages, fire, or other hazards.
If you notice any abnormality
If any of the following occur, immediately disconnect the Ethernet cable:
- Ethernet cable is frayed or damaged.
- Unusual smells or smoke are emitted.
- An object or water has entered the product.
- Sudden loss of sound during use.
- Cracks or visible damage appear on the product.
Have the product inspected or repaired by qualified Yamaha service personnel.
Power supply
- Use a CAT5e or higher grade cable. Failure to do so may result in fire or malfunction.
Do not open
This product contains no user-serviceable parts. Do not attempt to disassemble or modify internal parts.
Water warning/Fire warning
- Do not expose to rain, use near water, in damp conditions, or place containers with liquids on the product.
- Never insert or remove an electric plug with wet hands.
- Do not place burning items or open flames near the product.
Hearing loss
- Before connecting other devices, set all volume levels to minimum to prevent hearing loss, electric shock, or device damage.
- Avoid prolonged use of headphones at high volume levels, as this can cause permanent hearing loss. Consult a physician if you experience hearing loss or ringing in the ears.
- Use headphones with an impedance of 40Ω or more. Using headphones with impedance less than 40Ω may cause oscillation, extremely loud noises, or hearing loss.

Always follow basic precautions to avoid physical injury to yourself or others.
Location and connection
- Do not place the product in an unstable position where it might fall.
- Do not place in locations exposed to corrosive gases or salt air, as this may cause malfunction.
- Remove all connected cables before moving the product.
Maintenance
- Remove the Ethernet cable before cleaning the product to avoid electric shock.
Handling caution
- Do not apply excessive force to switches or connectors.
- Do not rest weight on the product or place heavy objects on it.
Yamaha is not responsible for damage caused by improper use or modifications.

Notice
Handling and maintenance
- Do not use the product near TVs, radios, or other electric products to prevent noise generation.
- Avoid excessive dust, vibration, extreme cold or heat (direct sunlight, near heaters, in cars) to prevent panel disfiguration, unstable operation, or internal damage.
- Do not install in locations with severe temperature changes, as condensation may form and cause damage.
- If condensation is suspected, leave the product powered off for several hours to dry completely before use.
- Do not place vinyl, plastic, or rubber objects on the product, as this may alter or discolor the panel.
- When cleaning, use a dry, soft cloth. Do not use paint thinners, solvents, cleaning fluids, or chemical-impregnated cloths.

- About functions/data bundled with the product: This product uses Dante Ultimo. Refer to the Audinate website for open-source licenses: https://www.audinate.com/software-licensing. A 1000BASE-T connection requires an Enhanced Category 5 (CAT5e) or better LAN cable.

Part Names and Functions
Front panel
The front panel features the following controls:
- [1] MAIN/DUO jacks: Connect microphone headsets or headphones. Use MAIN jack for single-person use.
- [2] MY VOL. knob: Adjusts the volume of your instrument or microphone. Turning right increases volume. At the 3 o'clock position, volume matches other instruments.
- [3] MASTER VOL. knob: Adjusts the overall volume. (Note: A faint sound may be heard even when MY VOL. and MASTER VOL. are set to MIN.)
- [4] MIC button: Toggles the microphone on/off. Lights up when on. Automatically turns on during conversations with the instructor.
- [5] CALL button: Press to call the instructor. The button flashes while calling. Press again to stop calling. Lights up during conversation. Conversation ends from the instructor's application.
- [6] STATUS indicator: Shows operating status. Lights up during normal operation. Flashes or goes off if an error occurred. Contact instructor or person in charge if an error occurs.
Side panel
The side panel features the following ports:
- [7] Dante port: Connects to a network. Powered by PoE Ethernet switch/injector. Use STP (Shielded Twisted Pair) cables to prevent electromagnetic interference. (Note: Unplugging/plugging the Ethernet cable rapidly may cause malfunction. Wait at least 5 seconds after unplugging and powering off before plugging back in.)
- [8] I/O port: Connects instruments for MIDI information exchange with the application and other instruments. Used for guide lamp feature with model songs and receiving song data. (Note: Use a USB cable of 3 m or less.)
- [9] INPUT jack: Connects to the instrument's PHONES jack for headphones. Standard stereo headphone input.
- [10] INPUT GAIN switch: Adjusts input gain for the [INPUT] jack. Set to "0 dB" normally. Set to "+10 dB" when connecting an instrument with low output.
Rear panel
- [11] DIP switch: Sets the unit ID for the MLA-200 and initializes the unit. Be careful when changing settings; consult a system installer for procedures.
Sample Setup
The sample setup illustrates connecting the MLA-200 to a host instrument via the 'TO HOST' jack and headphones via the 'PHONES' jack. The MLA-200 connects to a PoE powered Ethernet switch (Dante network) using a CAT5e or higher grade STP cable. Headset-type headphones are connected to the MLA-200. An MRX7-D device is shown connected to the network.
WARNING: Use headphones with an impedance of 40Ω or more. Using headphones with impedance less than 40Ω may cause oscillation, extremely loud noises, or hearing loss.
NOTE: When used by one person, use the MAIN jack. Use headset-type headphones compatible with the CTIA standard.
Installing onto an Instrument
CAUTION: Installation of the MLA-200 onto an instrument should be performed by a professional installer. Refer to the Setup Guide for details.
Installation conditions
- Install so that cables on the side panel face downward.
- Ensure no interference with headphones or connectors on the instrument.
- Use the included screws for installation.
- Install screws at least 15 mm inside the edge of the instrument's leg or stand.
Installation examples
Mounted with screws on the side: Illustrates mounting with screws on the side of an instrument, ensuring at least 15 mm clearance from the edge.
Mounted with screws at the top: Illustrates mounting with screws at the top of an instrument, ensuring at least 15 mm clearance from the edge.
Mounted with screws at the bottom: Illustrates mounting with screws at the bottom of an instrument, ensuring at least 15 mm clearance from the edge.
When placed on a flat surface
Attach the included rubber feet to prevent slipping. Install the feet approximately 15 mm inside each edge. Ensure all four feet are attached.
