Methods of Installation
Adhesive Mount
This method utilizes VHB Tape (included on the backside of the strip) or separately sold silicone adhesive.
Diagram Description: Illustrates the LED strip being affixed to a ceiling or wall surface using adhesive. The diagram shows the strip positioned on a wall, with the VHB tape on its back, and mentions optional silicone adhesive.
Notes:
- Avoid bending in sharp horizontal angles which may damage the LED.
- Always test LED operation before installing in extrusion. Connect LED to power supply to ensure it is working properly and all non-factory soldered connections are secure.

LED Strip Lead Wire & Jumper Instructions: DRY IP20
If LED wires are pre-soldered from the factory, skip to page 6.
Items Included (iQ-LED-24-KIT): 24" Lead wire, 6" Solder, 1" Shrink Tube, 1/2" Shrink Tube.
Items Included (iQ-JUMP-6-KIT): 6" Lead wire, 6" Solder, two 1" Shrink Tubes, two 1/2" Shrink Tubes.
Step 1: Cutting the Strip
Diagram Description: Shows a ruler measuring the LED strip, with scissors cutting it at a marked [cut point].
Step 2: Soldering Lead Wire
Diagram Description: Depicts soldering a lead wire onto the solder pad of the LED strip, ensuring correct polarity ([positive (+)] and [negative (-)] connections). The black wire is typically negative, and the red wire is typically positive. Recommended soldering iron temperature: 650°F - 700°F for lead-free solder.
Step 3: Heat Shrinking Connections
Diagram Description: Illustrates the process of insulating the soldered connection using heat shrink tubes. This involves placing a 1/2-inch [shrink tube] on the lead wire, shrinking it with a [heat gun], then placing a 1-inch [shrink tube] over it and shrinking it again.
Notes:
- Avoid bending in sharp horizontal angles which may damage the LED.
- Always test LED operation before installing in extrusion. Connect LED to power supply to ensure it is working properly and all non-factory soldered connections are secure.

LED Strip Lead Wire & Jumper Instructions: DMP IP54
If LED wires are pre-soldered from the factory, skip to page 6.
Items Included (iQ-LED-24-KIT): 24" Lead wire, 6" Solder, 1" Shrink Tube, 1/2" Shrink Tube.
Items Included (iQ-JUMP-6-KIT): 6" Lead wire, 6" Solder, two 1" Shrink Tubes, two 1/2" Shrink Tubes.
Step 1: Cutting the Strip
Diagram Description: Shows measuring and cutting the LED strip at a marked [cut point]. It also notes that once a damp strip is cut, it cannot be reconnected.
Step 2: Soldering Lead Wire
Diagram Description: Depicts soldering a lead wire onto the solder pad of the LED strip, ensuring correct polarity ([positive (+)] and [negative (-)] connections). It mentions carefully peeling back polyurethane to expose the solder pads.
- Diagrams are for representation only and not to scale.
LED Strip Lead Wire & Jumper Instructions: WET IP67
If LED wires are pre-soldered from the factory, skip to page 6.
Items Included (iQ-LED-67-KIT): 24" Lead wire, 6" Solder, Lead wire cap, End Cap.
Items Included (iQ-JUMP-67-KIT): 6" Lead wire, 6" Solder, two Lead wire Caps.
Step 1: Cutting the Strip
Diagram Description: Shows measuring and cutting the LED strip at a marked [cut point]. It notes that once a wet strip is cut, it cannot be reconnected.
Step 2: Soldering Lead Wire
Diagram Description: Depicts soldering a lead wire onto the solder pad of the LED strip, ensuring correct polarity ([positive (+)] and [negative (-)] connections). Recommended soldering iron temperature: 650°F - 700°F for lead-free solder.
Step 3: Sealing Connections
Diagram Description: Illustrates sealing the connection for WET IP67 rating. This involves placing a [lead wire cap] over the wire and adding [silicone] inside the connector to secure the gap. Then, an [end cap] is placed over the end of the LED strip, and [glue] is applied around its edge to secure it.
Notes:
- Avoid bending in sharp horizontal angles which may damage the LED.
- Always test LED operation before installing in extrusion. Connect LED to power supply to ensure it is working properly and all non-factory soldered connections are secure.
- Diagrams are for representation only and not to scale.
LED Insertion for In-Field Assembly Installation: Strip in Extrusion
Step 1: Surface Cleaning
Diagram Description: Shows cleaning the surface of the extrusion and the multi-tray surface using a [50/50 alcohol] mix. The surface should be allowed to dry for approximately [5 minutes].
Step 2: Adhering the Strip
Diagram Description: Depicts peeling back 0.5 inches of the [VHB tape]'s protective film on one end of the LED strip. The strip is then adhered to the desired surface with firm pressure, avoiding air bubbles, in small sections.
Step 3: Attaching Flat Lenses
Diagram Description: For 'Flat Lenses', this step shows applying uniform pressure until the extrusion and lens snap securely together.
Step 4: Attaching Optical Lenses and End Caps
Diagram Description: For 'Optical Lenses', this step shows sliding the lens into the grooved lip of the extrusion from one end until secured. It also shows adding [glue] inside the [end cap] and around its edges to secure it in place, ensuring glue does not contact the LED.
Surface Mounting Method: VHB Adhesive Mount - Surface Preparation
Step 1: Environmental Conditions
Diagram Description: Illustrates ideal environmental conditions for application: [70-100°F] temperature, [50% humidity or less], and a curing time of [72 hours].
Step 2: Surface Treatment for Porous Materials
Diagram Description: For porous materials like Wood, Brick, and Concrete, it is recommended to apply [2 layers] of paint or primer to create a better bonding surface. This can be achieved using products like 3M Primer 94, available at local hardware stores.
Step 3: Surface Cleaning and Adhesion
Diagram Description: Shows cleaning the surface area with a [50/50 alcohol] mix and allowing it to dry for [5 minutes]. Then, peeling back 0.5 inches of the [VHB tape]'s protective film and adhering the strip to the surface with firm pressure, avoiding air bubbles, in small sections.
