Chapter 2: Power Supply Modes
The CR1009 can be powered by five different methods:
- Crank Power: Unfold the crank handle from the back of the unit. Rotate the handle in either direction at a speed of approximately 2 laps per second. This generates 300-350mA of electricity to charge the built-in 5000mAh rechargeable battery.
- Solar Power: Expose the solar panel to direct sunlight. This generates 30-50mA of electricity to charge the built-in 5000mAh rechargeable battery. Note: Solar charging is primarily for maintaining the battery and may not fully charge it due to its capacity. Do not charge indoors.
- Micro USB Adapter Charging: Connect the included USB cable to a standard AC power adapter (not included) and plug the other end into the radio's Micro USB input port. Connect the AC adapter to a 110-220V standard outlet. A 5V/2A AC power adapter is recommended.
- Li-ion Battery: The unit comes with a built-in 5000mAh 21700 Li-ion battery. Ensure the Power Selector (16) is set to the "LI-ION" position.
- AAA Batteries: Open the battery compartment cover (21) on the back of the unit. Insert 3 AAA batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity. Set the Power Selector (16) to the "AAA" position. Note: The SOS alert sound may be lower when using AAA batteries due to their lower current output compared to the Li-ion battery.
Chapter 3: Power Indicators
The radio features indicators to show its power status:
- Battery Indicator: Flashing every second indicates the Li-ion battery power is LOW.
- Charging Indicator: Illuminated indicates the Li-ion battery is CHARGING.
- Power On Indicator: Illuminated indicates the radio is powered ON.
Chapter 4: Charging External Devices
Connect your device's charging cable to the USB output charging port (1) on the back of the radio. This feature is intended for emergency use only and should not be used as a regular power bank. The supplied USB cable is for Micro USB devices; other devices require their original charging cables.
If the CR1009 has no power, you can manually crank the handle for 8-15 minutes (depending on your cranking speed) to generate enough power to start up a connected phone.
Chapter 5: Power Switch Operation
To select the power source:
- For AAA batteries: Slide the "POWER" button to the "AAA" side. Ensure it is fully engaged at the top position to guarantee connection.
- For the internal Li-ion battery: Slide the "POWER" button to the "LI-ION" side. Ensure it is fully engaged at the bottom position to guarantee connection.
