Product Usage Instructions

  • Step 1: Preparation
    Park the vehicle on a flat and level surface. Place a clean rag underneath the fitting to capture any residual fuel that will drain from the lines and filter when disconnected.
  • Step 2: Disconnecting the Fuel Injector Return Fitting
    Locate the under-hood fuel filter assembly on your vehicle. Disconnect the fuel injector return fitting based on the style encountered. Refer to the manual for detailed instructions on removal.
  • Step 3: Cutting the Fuel Injector Return Line
    Use hose cutters or diagonal cutters to cut the fuel injector return line approximately one inch from the end of the fitting. Remove any strain relief if present.
  • Step 4: Hose Clamp Installation
    Cleanly cut the injector return line and install the included hose clamp approximately one inch from the end of the hose.
  • Step 5: Installing Barb Fitting
    Lubricate the hose barb fitting with clean fuel and press it into the hose until both barbs are fully covered. Move the hose clamp over the fitting.
  • Step 6: Connecting to Fuel Filter Assembly
    Lubricate the injector return line connector on the fuel filter assembly with clean fuel. Install the new Fleece Performance fitting onto your fuel filter assembly following the provided instructions.
  • Step 7: Final Checks
    Prime the fuel system, check for leaks, and start the vehicle. Verify proper installation and operation.

APPLICATION NOTES

  • This kit is designed to work with both OEM and aftermarket fuel filter assemblies including Fleece Performance P/N: FPE-FMC-UHFA-1123.
  • A service kit is available for this product, Fleece Performance P/N: FPE-FMC-FF-RLK-1724-SER. The kit includes replacement O-rings and locking tabs.
  • A replacement barb fitting is available for this product, Fleece Performance P/N: FPE-AN4-332B.
  • This product is compatible with trucks equipped with an S&S Diesel Motorsport DCR conversion kit or the S&S Diesel Motorsport CP4 Disaster Prevention Kit.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION

  • STEP 1: Park the vehicle on a fla t and level surface. Place a clean rag underneath the fitting to capture any residual fuel that will drain from the lines and filter when disconnected.
  • STEP 2: Locate the under-hood fuel filter assembly on your vehicle. Disconnect the fuel injector return fitting. There are two different styles of fittings that you may encounter in this installation that Ford has utilized. See the guide below on how to remove each of these fittings.
  • STYLE #1 – LIFT TAB: To release, lift the orange tab away from the fitting to expose the locking ring buttons. Once the tab is lifted, squeeze the buttons on both sides of the fitting. Squeeze the buttons while pushing the fitting toward the filter to release any pressure on the locking ring, then pull away to remove the fitting. See image labeled Connector Style #1 at right.
  • STYLE #2 – LOCKING TABS: To release, pull the two tabs away from the filter housing and push the tabs inward towards the center of the fitting. See images labeled #2 at right.

  • STEP 3: Once the injector return connector is removed from the filter housing, use hose cutters or diagonal cutters to cut the fuel injector return line approximately one inch from the end of the fitting. Some installations may include the strain relief shown at right, which may be removed to expose additional hose.
    NOTE: If your injector return hose connector has broken at the fitting, cut the hose ½” inch from the end to allow for a clean hose end and remove any portion of the plastic barb that may remain inside the hose.

  • STEP 4: Cleanly cut the injector return line.
  • STEP 5: Using pliers, install the included hose clamp onto the injector return hose so that it is approximately one inch from the end of the hose to allow for the barb fitting to be easily installed.

  • STEP 6: Lubricate the hose barb fitting with clean fuel to ease installation into the injector return hose. Press the barb fitting into the hose until both barbs are fully covered by the hose.
  • STEP 7: Using pliers, move hose clamp upward and position the hose clamp over the fitting.

  • STEP 8: Lubricate the injector return line connector on the fuel filter assembly with clean fuel. Ensure the locking tab is lifted to the up position.
  • STEP 9: Install the new Fleece Performance fitting onto your fuel filter assembly. Lift the yellow tab upward and push the fitting towards the filter housing until you feel the locking ring click into place. Pull the fitting away from the filter to confirm it is seated properly. Press down on the yellow tab to engage the lock on.

  • STEP 10: Prime the fuel system by cycling the ignition to the on position without starting the vehicle. Verify no leaks are present. Start the vehicle and check for leaks.
