Hardware Installation

Wall-Mounting (Optional)

  1. Mark mounting hole locations on the wall, spaced 90 mm apart.
  2. Drill holes using a 6 mm drill bit.
  3. Insert screw anchors into the drilled holes.
  4. Secure the mounting screws into the anchors, leaving approximately 3 mm of the screw head exposed.

Connecting Power

  1. Connect the power adapter to the UniFi Gateway's power port.
  2. Connect the power cord to the power adapter and then to a power outlet.

Network Connections

  1. Connect the WAN port of the UniFi Gateway to your modem or network using an Ethernet cable.
  2. Connect a computer to the LAN 1 port of the UniFi Gateway using an Ethernet cable.

Software Installation

Download the latest version of the UniFi Controller software from ui.com/download/unifi.

Launch the installer from a management station connected to the same Layer-2 network and follow the on-screen instructions.

If UniFi Controller v5.4 or higher is already installed, proceed to the 'Adopting the UniFi Gateway' section.

After installation and running the UniFi Installation Wizard, the UniFi Controller management interface login screen will appear. Enter your created username and password and click 'Sign In'.

You can manage your network and view network statistics through the UniFi Controller management interface. For detailed usage information, refer to the User Guide available at ui.com/download/unifi.

Adopting the UniFi Gateway

  1. From the UniFi Controller dashboard, navigate to 'Devices' in the left menu bar.
  2. Locate the UniFi Gateway in the device list under the 'Model' column and click 'Adopt'.
  3. The System LED on the UniFi Gateway will turn blue, indicating successful adoption.

Optional WAN Port Configuration via Layer 3

By default, the WAN port is configured for DHCP. To change this setting:

  1. Connect a computer directly to the LAN 1 port of the UniFi Gateway (or through a switch).
  2. Open a web browser and navigate to https://setup.ui.com.
  3. Enter your Username and Password and click 'Sign In'.
  4. In the 'Setup My UniFi Gateway' window, click 'Edit Configuration' to set the WAN port to DHCP, Static IP, or PPPoE.

Electrical Safety Information

  1. Compliance is required with respect to voltage, frequency, and current requirements indicated on the manufacturer's label. Connection to a different power source than those specified may result in improper operation, damage to the equipment, or pose a fire hazard if limitations are not followed.
  2. There are no operator-serviceable parts inside this equipment. Service should be provided only by a qualified service technician.
  3. This equipment is provided with a detachable power cord which has an integral safety ground wire intended for connection to a grounded safety outlet.
    • Do not substitute the power cord with one that is not the provided approved type. Never use an adapter plug to connect to a 2-wire outlet as this will defeat the continuity of the grounding wire.
    • The equipment requires the use of the ground wire as part of the safety certification; modification or misuse can provide a shock hazard that can result in serious injury.
    • Protective earthing is provided by the Listed AC adapter. Building installation shall provide appropriate short-circuit backup protection.
    • Protective bonding must be installed in accordance with local national wiring rules and regulations.
