ShellyBLU Door/Window User and Safety Guide

This document provides essential technical and safety information for the ShellyBLU Door/Window device, ensuring its safe use and installation.

Product Introduction

The ShellyBLU Door/Window is a Bluetooth sensor designed to detect the opening and closing of doors or windows. It can also measure the inclination angle of doors or windows that tilt and turn, and features an integrated light sensor.

Important Safety Information

⚠ CAUTION! Before installation, read this guide and all accompanying documents carefully. Failure to follow procedures may lead to malfunction, personal danger, or legal violations. Allterco Robotics EOOD is not liable for damage due to incorrect installation or operation.

⚠ WARNING! Keep magnets away from children. Swallowing magnets can cause serious injury.

⚠ CAUTION! Keep the device away from liquids and moisture. Do not use in high humidity environments.

⚠ CAUTION! Do not use if the device is damaged. Do not attempt self-service or repair.

⚠ CAUTION! The device connects wirelessly and may control electrical circuits. Proceed with caution; irresponsible use can lead to malfunction or danger.

First Steps

The ShellyBLU Door/Window comes with the battery pre-installed. If the device does not emit signals when its button is pressed, insert a new battery as described in the 'Replacing the battery' section.

Installation and Mounting

Mounting Instructions:

  • Ensure the small triangle on the sensor unit points towards the magnet.
  • Maintain a distance of less than 10 mm / 0.4 in between the sensor unit and the magnet when the door or window is closed.
  • The magnet can be placed to the left, right, above, or below the sensor unit.
  • For doors/windows that tilt and turn: Mount the sensor unit (C) on the door/window (A) and the magnet (D) on the frame (B), as illustrated in Figure 3.
  • Use the provided double-sided foam stickers for attachment.
  • Shims (E) may be used to align the magnet and sensor unit if the frame requires it.
  • For conventional doors/windows, it is recommended to mount the sensor unit on the frame and the magnet on the door/window.

Using ShellyBLU Door/Window

When a conventional door/window opens, the device broadcasts event, illumination, and battery status. For tilting/turning doors/windows, it broadcasts initial event data, followed by inclination angle, illumination, and battery status after 2 seconds. Changes in inclination angle trigger a status broadcast within 8 seconds. When closed, it broadcasts event, zero inclination angle, illumination, and battery status. In beacon mode, it broadcasts current state, inclination, illumination, and battery status every 30 seconds.

Pairing: To pair with another Bluetooth device, press and hold the device button for 10 seconds. The device will await connection for one minute. Available Bluetooth characteristics are detailed in the official Shelly API documentation at https://shelly.link/ble.

Factory Reset: To restore factory settings, press and hold the button for 30 seconds shortly after inserting the battery.

Initial Inclusion

For integration with the Shelly Smart Control mobile application and cloud service, refer to the mobile application guide. The device can also be used standalone or with other home automation platforms supporting the BTHome protocol. More information is available at bthome.io.
