RFID Reader LED
The UR-40 UHF RFID Reader supports data transfer via 1) a USB Type-C cable or 2) the RS20 Mobile Computer Communication & Charging Cradle (CHCR-RS20). To use the cradle, purchase the Inner Cap for RS20 with Pistol Grip or UHF RFID Reader (Optional) separately.
Install the Reader
- Insert the top of the RS20 (the side with the scan window) into the top housing of the UHF RFID reader (the side near the RFID antenna).
- Press the bottom of the RS20 into the top housing until it is fully seated.

Remove the Reader
- Select either the left or right corner at the bottom of the RS20 to begin removal.
- Place your thumb on the “Press Point” at the selected corner. While pressing down, pull the corner of the RS20 out of the top housing.
- Repeat the same procedure to remove the other corner at the bottom of the RS20.
Once it is completely detached, pull the RS20 outward to remove it.

Install the Battery
- Lift the D-ring on the thumb screw and turn it counterclockwise to the vertical position (unlocked).
- 2) Open the battery cover.

- Insert the battery with the metal contacts facing inward.
- Close the battery cover and turn the D-ring clockwise to the horizontal position (locked).

Scan RFID Tags
- Open the “EZConfig” app on the RS20.
- Press the trigger to scan.
- Check the tag data in the “EZConfig” app.

Charging Method
Charge the RS20 and reader simultaneously
- Use a USB Type-C charging cable: Connect it to a wall outlet to avoid slow charging.
The RS20 and reader can be charged simultaneously through the RS20’s bottom Type-C charging port. (The reader starts charging once the RS20 battery level reaches 85%.) - Use the RS20 Charging & Communication Cradle (CHCR-RS20) or Charging Cradle (CHCN-RS20): Connect it to a wall outlet to avoid slow charging. The RS20 and reader can be charged simultaneously through the RS20’s bottom metal contacts. The reader starts charging when the RS20 battery level reaches 85%.
Purchase the Inner Cap for RS20 with Pistol Grip or UHF RFID Reader separately.
Charge the reader battery only
The UR-40 UHF RFID reader comes with a dedicated battery and battery charger (with a charging cable and power adapter), allowing the battery in the reader to be charged separately. The reader can only be powered by this battery during operation.
