  It is recommended to use pure, distilled, or demineralized water (or a 50/50 mix of tap and demineralized water) in your CHI steam iron to reduce mineral buildup and extend the lifespan of your appliance.

  Preheat the iron to the linen setting and iron over a damp, 100% cotton cloth to transfer residue from the soleplate to the cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners, abrasive cleansers, or scouring pads as they will damage the ceramic finish.

  To use the self-clean function, add water to the iron, preheat it to the highest temperature, then unplug it. Hold the iron over a sink and press the self-clean button until steam stops coming from the vents on the soleplate.
