2. Safety Guidelines

• Pre-Ride Check: Before each ride, inspect tires for proper inflation and wear, check brake functionality, ensure all quick releases are tightened, and verify battery charge level.
• Helmet Use: Always wear a certified bicycle helmet.
• Visibility: Use the integrated LED headlight and reflective elements, especially when riding in low light conditions. Consider additional lighting and reflective clothing.
• Weather Conditions: Exercise caution when riding in wet or slippery conditions. Braking distances increase significantly.

4. Assembly Instructions

Your Heybike YM1 Electric Bike comes 90% pre-assembled. The final assembly process is straightforward and typically involves attaching the front wheel, handlebars, pedals, and seat.

Required Tools:

• Multi-tool (often included)
• Hex wrenches
• Open-end wrenches

Assembly Steps:

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the bike and all components from the packaging. Retain packaging for potential returns or future transport.
2. Handlebar Installation: Attach the handlebars to the stem, ensuring they are centered and tightened securely. Adjust the angle for comfort.
3. Front Wheel Installation: Install the front wheel, ensuring the disc brake rotor is correctly seated within the caliper. Secure the wheel with the quick-release skewer or axle nuts.
4. Pedal Installation: Identify the left (L) and right (R) pedals. The left pedal tightens counter-clockwise, and the right pedal tightens clockwise. Apply a small amount of grease to the threads before installation.
5. Seat Post and Saddle: Insert the seat post into the frame and adjust the saddle height for a comfortable riding position. Secure with the quick-release lever.
6. Fender Installation: Attach the front and rear fenders if not already installed.
7. Battery Installation: Insert the fully charged battery into its compartment and ensure it locks securely.
8. Final Checks: Double-check all bolts, nuts, and quick releases for tightness. Verify brake and gear functionality.

5. Battery Management

The Heybike YM1 is powered by a 48V 10Ah (480WH) removable lithium-ion battery. Proper battery care ensures longevity and optimal performance.

Charging the Battery:

• Charging Time: A full charge typically takes 5-6 hours.
• Charger: Use only the original charger provided by Heybike.
• Charging Location: Charge the battery in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from flammable materials.
• Overcharge Protection: The battery is equipped with overcharge protection, but it is recommended to disconnect the charger once fully charged.
• Charging Indicator: The charger will typically have an indicator light (e.g., red for charging, green for fully charged).

Battery Removal and Installation:

The battery is designed for easy removal, allowing for off-bike charging or secure storage.

1. Removal: Turn the key to unlock the battery, then carefully slide it out of its compartment.
2. Installation: Slide the battery back into the compartment until it clicks into place. Turn the key to lock it securely.

Battery Care:

• Store the battery in a cool, dry place when not in use.
• Avoid fully discharging the battery regularly. Charge it after each ride or when the charge level is low.
• If storing for an extended period, charge the battery to approximately 50-70% and recharge every 2-3 months.

6. Operating Your E-Bike

6.1 Power On/Off

• To Power On: Press and hold the power button on the LCD display until the screen illuminates.
• To Power Off: Press and hold the power button again until the display turns off.

6.2 LCD Display Functions

6.4 Gear Shifting

The 7-speed Shimano gear system allows you to adjust your pedaling effort to match terrain and speed.

• Use the trigger shifter on the handlebar to change gears.
• Shift to lower gears (larger cogs) for easier pedaling on inclines.
• Shift to higher gears (smaller cogs) for faster speeds on flat terrain.

6.5 Braking System
