Setup

1. Unpacking

1. Carefully remove the coffee machine and all accessories from the packaging.
2. Remove any protective films or packaging materials from the appliance.
3. Check that all components are present and undamaged.

2. Initial Cleaning

1. Wash the water tank, drip tray, and capsule/pod/ground coffee adapters with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
2. Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.

3. First Use (Rinsing Cycle)

1. Fill the water tank with fresh, clean water up to the MAX level.
2. Place an empty cup on the drip tray.
3. Plug the machine into a grounded power outlet. The power indicator light will illuminate.
4. Without any coffee or capsule inserted, press the brew button to run a full cycle of hot water through the machine. Repeat this process 2-3 times to clean the internal system.
5. Discard the water. The machine is now ready for use.

Operating Instructions

1. Filling the Water Tank

• Ensure the machine is unplugged or turned off.
• Remove the water tank from the back of the machine.
• Fill with fresh, cold water up to the MAX mark. Do not overfill.
• Replace the water tank securely on the machine.

2. Selecting Coffee Type and Adapter

The KOTLIE EM-308B comes with multiple adapters for different coffee types:

• Nespresso Original Compatible Capsules: Use the designated capsule adapter.
• Dolce Gusto Compatible Capsules: Use the designated capsule adapter.
• A Modo Mio Compatible Capsules: Use the designated capsule adapter.
• 44mm ESE Pods: Use the designated ESE pod adapter.
• Ground Coffee: Use the ground coffee adapter and fill with your desired amount of ground coffee (do not overfill or tamp too hard).

Insert the appropriate adapter into the brewing chamber.

3. Setting Temperature and Water Volume

• Temperature: The machine offers three temperature settings. Press the temperature button to cycle through: Green Light (Low), Yellow Light (Medium), Red Light (High). Select your preferred temperature.
• Water Volume: Use the water volume adjustment buttons to select one of the seven available levels. This controls the amount of water dispensed, allowing you to customize coffee strength.

4. Brewing Coffee

1. Ensure the water tank is filled and the correct adapter with coffee is inserted.
2. Place a cup on the drip tray.
3. Select your desired temperature and water volume.
4. Press the brew button. The machine will begin the brewing process. For ground coffee, the pre-infusion function will activate first, briefly wetting the coffee before full extraction.
5. Once brewing is complete, the machine will stop automatically.
6. Carefully remove your cup.
7. After brewing, remove and clean the used adapter and dispose of the capsule/pod/ground coffee.

Regular cleaning and maintenance ensure optimal performance and longevity of your coffee machine.

1. Daily Cleaning

• Drip Tray and Used Capsule/Pod/Ground Coffee Container: Empty and rinse daily with warm, soapy water.
• Water Tank: Rinse daily with fresh water. For thorough cleaning, wash with warm, soapy water weekly.
• Adapters: After each use, remove and rinse the adapter under running water. Ensure no coffee residue remains.
• Exterior: Wipe the machine's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

2. Descaling

Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) can build up in the machine, affecting performance and coffee taste. Descale your machine regularly, depending on water hardness and frequency of use (e.g., every 2-3 months).

1. Empty the water tank and fill it with a descaling solution suitable for coffee machines (follow the descaler manufacturer's instructions for dilution).
2. Place a large container under the coffee outlet.
3. Run several brewing cycles without coffee until the water tank is empty.
4. Rinse the water tank thoroughly and fill it with fresh water.
5. Run several cycles with fresh water to rinse out any descaling solution residue.
