4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
Align the battery with the back of the radio and slide it into place until it clicks securely. To remove, press the release latch and slide the battery off.
4.2 Antenna Attachment
Screw the provided dual-band antenna clockwise into the connector on top of the radio until it is finger-tight.
4.3 Charging
The RT-6D features a convenient USB Type-C port for both charging and programming. Connect the USB-C cable to the radio and a power source (wall adapter, car charger, power bank, or computer) to charge the battery.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off and Volume
Rotate the Volume/ON/OFF knob clockwise to power on the radio. Continue rotating to adjust the volume. Rotate counter-clockwise until a click is heard to power off.
5.2 Channel and Zone Selection
Use the Channel Knob on top of the radio to select different channels. The RT-6D supports 256 zones and 1024 channels, allowing for organized communication management.
5.3 Mode Switching (DMR/Analog)
The RT-6D supports both DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) and analog operations. The mode can be selected per channel during programming or via the radio's menu, depending on configuration.

6. DMR Codeplug Programming
A codeplug is a configuration file that defines all the settings for your DMR radio, including contacts, talk groups, and channels. Understanding how to create and manage your codeplug is essential for effective DMR communication.
6.1 Understanding Contacts, Talk Groups, and Zones
The RT-6D supports 2,000 contacts and 90 Talk Group lists (up to 128 groups each). It also has a built-in global database of 500,000 contacts, with import capabilities via CSV files. Channels are organized into zones for easier navigation.
