Product Overview

The Captain 400 headset features intuitive controls and ports for easy access and functionality.

Headset Controls and Ports:

  • Power Button: Long press to power on/off. Double-click to switch connection modes (2.4GHz/Bluetooth).
  • Volume Wheel: Adjusts headphone volume.
  • Microphone Port: For connecting the detachable microphone.
  • USB-C Charging Port: For charging the headset.
  • 3.5mm Audio Jack: For wired connection.
  • Indicator Light: Displays connection status and charging status.

Setup & Connection

The Captain 400 headset supports three connection modes: 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.2, and 3.5mm wired.

1. 2.4GHz Wireless Connection (PC, PS4, PS5, Switch Docked)

  1. Plug the USB Transmitter into an available USB port on your PC, PS4, PS5, or Nintendo Switch dock. The transmitter's indicator light will flash blue when pending for pairing.
  2. Ensure the detachable microphone is fully inserted into the headset's microphone port.
  3. Long press the power button on the headset to turn it on. The headset will automatically attempt to pair with the USB transmitter.
  4. Once successfully paired, the headset will announce "Connected," and both the headset's and transmitter's indicator lights will remain solid blue.
  5. On PS5, navigate to Settings > Sound > Microphone > Input Device and select USB Headset (Captain 400). Then go to Sound > Audio Output > Output Device and select USB Headset (Captain 400). Adjust volume levels under Sound > Volume > Headphones and microphone levels under Sound > Microphone > Adjust Microphone Level.
  6. For Nintendo Switch, ensure the console is docked. Plug the USB transmitter into the dock. The headset will automatically connect.

2. Bluetooth 5.2 Connection (Mobile Devices, Tablets, Switch Handheld)

  1. Ensure the headset is powered on.
  2. Double-click the power button to switch to Bluetooth mode. The indicator light will flash blue and red, indicating it's in pairing mode.
  3. On your mobile device, tablet, or Nintendo Switch (in handheld mode), go to Bluetooth settings and select "Captain 400" from the list of available devices.
  4. Once connected, the headset will announce "Connected," and the indicator light will remain solid blue.

3. 3.5mm Wired Connection (Xbox Series X|S, Other Devices)

  1. Ensure the headset is powered off for wired mode.
  2. Connect one end of the 3.5mm Aux Cable to the headset's 3.5mm audio jack.
  3. Connect the other end of the 3.5mm Aux Cable to your device's 3.5mm audio port (e.g., Xbox controller, PC, mobile phone).
  4. Note: For Xbox controllers, an adapter (not included) may be required as the cable does not work directly with all Xbox controllers.

Operating Instructions

Power On/Off

  • Power On: Long press the power button until the indicator light illuminates.
  • Power Off: Long press the power button until the indicator light turns off.

Microphone Usage

  • The Captain 400 features a detachable noise-canceling microphone. Insert it firmly into the dedicated port on the headset.
  • To mute the microphone, press the microphone mute button. The blue light on the microphone will turn off.
  • To unmute, press the microphone mute button again. The blue light on the microphone will turn on.

Volume Adjustment

  • Use the volume wheel located on the headset to increase or decrease the audio output level.

Charging

  • Connect the Type-C Charging Cable to the headset's charging port and a USB power source.
  • The headset can be used while charging.
  • A voice prompt will alert you when the battery level falls below 3%.
  • A full charge takes approximately 2.5 hours.
  • Expected battery life is over 40 hours without LED lights, and up to 25 hours with LED lights enabled.

Troubleshooting

  • Microphone not working on Nintendo Switch: The gaming headset's microphone is not supported for use with the Nintendo Switch.
  • Microphone not working on PS5: If the microphone does not work when using PS5, please ensure the input device is correctly selected in PS5 sound settings (Settings > Sound > Microphone > Input Device > USB Headset (Captain 400)). If the issue persists, contact customer support.
  • Connecting to Xbox Controller: When connecting to an Xbox controller with the 3.5mm cable, an adapter (not included) may be necessary. Ensure the headset is powered off for wired mode.
  • Low Battery: The headset will provide voice prompts when the power falls below 3%. Charge the headset using the provided Type-C cable.
  • Connection Issues: If the headset fails to connect via 2.4GHz or Bluetooth, ensure it is in the correct pairing mode (flashing blue for 2.4GHz, flashing blue/red for Bluetooth) and that the USB transmitter is properly inserted or Bluetooth is enabled on your device.
