Installation and Setup

Proper installation is critical for the safe and efficient operation of your tankless water heater. It is highly recommended that a certified RV technician performs the installation.

1. Site Selection and Dimensions

Choose a location on your RV exterior that allows for the unit's dimensions and proper ventilation. The unit measures 15"W x 15"H. Ensure adequate clearance for maintenance and air circulation.

2. Mounting the Unit

1. Prepare the mounting area by cutting a 15" x 15" opening in the RV wall.
2. Apply the sealing strip around the perimeter of the opening to ensure a watertight seal.
3. Insert the water heater into the opening.
4. Secure the unit using the provided fixing screws. Ensure the unit is level and firmly attached to the RV structure.
5. Install the exterior door, ensuring it latches securely and does not obstruct the unit's openings.

3. Plumbing Connections

Connect the water lines to the unit. The cold water inlet and hot water outlet are both 1/2" NPT connections. Use appropriate RV-grade plumbing fittings and sealants to prevent leaks.

• Connect the cold water supply line to the designated inlet.
• Connect the hot water output line to your RV's hot water distribution system.

4. Gas Connection

Connect the Liquid Propane (LP) gas supply line to the 1/2" NPT gas inlet. Use gas-rated sealant tape or compound on all threaded connections. Perform a leak test on all gas connections using a soapy water solution after installation.

5. Electrical Connection

Connect the unit to a 12V DC power source. The unit requires 24 watts of power. Use the provided quick terminal block for secure electrical connections. Ensure correct polarity.

6. Remote Control Setup

Mount the remote control unit in a convenient location inside your RV. The remote allows for easy temperature adjustment and power control.

Operation

Once installed and all connections are verified, you can begin operating your LALAHOO RV Tankless Water Heater.

1. Initial Startup

1. Ensure the LP gas supply is open and the water supply is turned on.
2. Open a hot water faucet in your RV to purge air from the water lines. Allow water to flow until it runs smoothly without sputtering.
3. Turn on the main power switch for the water heater, typically located on the remote control or the unit itself.
4. The unit will initiate its startup sequence, and hot water should begin flowing within seconds.

2. Temperature Control

Use the remote control to adjust the desired water temperature. The unit provides stable water temperatures from 95°F to 123°F (35°C to 50.5°C).

• Press the Temperature Adjustment buttons (up/down arrows) on the remote to set the desired output temperature.
• The LED display will show the current temperature setting.

3. Propane-Saving Mode

The intelligent staged combustion system automatically adjusts the flame size based on hot water demand. This feature optimizes propane consumption, especially in warmer weather conditions, without compromising performance.

4. Outdoor Shower Use

The front water outlet design allows for convenient outdoor showering. Connect the provided shower head and hose to the front outlet for external use, such as washing pets or outdoor gear.

• Annual Inspection: Have a qualified technician inspect the unit annually, especially the gas connections, exhaust system, and water lines.
• Clean Exterior: Keep the exterior of the unit clean and free from debris. Ensure air intake and exhaust openings are not blocked.
• Water Quality: If operating in areas with hard water, consider installing a water softener or descaling the unit periodically to prevent mineral buildup.
• Winterization: In freezing temperatures, proper winterization is essential to prevent damage. Drain all water from the unit and plumbing lines, or use RV-approved antifreeze according to manufacturer instructions. The unit has anti-freeze protection, but extreme conditions may require additional measures.
• Check for Leaks: Periodically inspect all water and gas connections for any signs of leaks.

No Hot Water / Intermittent Hot Water

• Check Gas Supply: Ensure LP gas tank is not empty and the gas valve is fully open.
• Check Water Supply: Verify water supply is on and there is adequate water pressure (0.01-0.75MPa).
• Power Supply: Confirm the unit is receiving 12V DC power. Check fuses if necessary.
• Air in Lines: Purge air from water lines by opening a hot water faucet until water flows steadily.
• Flow Rate: Ensure the water flow rate is sufficient to activate the heater (minimum starting flow is typically low, but very low flow might not trigger it).
• Error Codes: Check the LED display on the remote for any error codes and refer to the specific error code guide (if provided separately or on the remote itself).

Unit Not Igniting

• Gas Supply: Confirm gas is flowing to the unit.
• Igniter: Listen for the igniter clicking sound. If no click, check electrical connections.
• Flame Sensor: A dirty or faulty flame sensor can prevent ignition. This typically requires professional service.

Water Temperature Fluctuations

• Inconsistent Water Flow: Ensure stable water pressure.
• Mixing Hot and Cold: Avoid mixing too much cold water at the faucet, as this can confuse the tankless heater's sensors. Adjust temperature primarily via the unit's remote.
• Sediment Buildup: Mineral deposits can affect performance. Consider descaling if water quality is an issue.

Gas Odor

• IMMEDIATELY: Turn off the gas supply at the tank.
