2. Pre-Installation Checks

Power Requirement: This thermostat requires a 24V AC C-wire for operation. Ensure your HVAC system provides a C-wire. If your system does not have a C-wire, a C-wire adapter may be required (not included).

Compatibility: The Provirtec Smart Thermostat is compatible with over 95% of 24VAC HVAC systems, including central air conditioning, heat pumps, boilers, and furnaces. It supports 3H2C systems.

Incompatible systems include Millivolt systems, systems with S-terminals for indoor/outdoor sensors, and 110-240VAC high voltage electric heating systems.

3. Wiring Instructions

  1. Turn off Power: Before starting, turn off power to your HVAC system at the breaker box or switch.
  2. Remove Old Thermostat: Carefully remove the front of your old thermostat. Use the provided wire labels to mark each wire according to its terminal. Take a picture of the wiring for reference.
  3. Remove Old Wall Bracket: Disconnect all wires and remove the old wall bracket.
  4. Install New Wall Plate: Install the new wall plate. If your system has only one R wire, keep the jumper wire between R and RC. If there are two R wires (R and RC), remove the jumper wire. Connect the R, G, C, Y, and W wires to the corresponding terminals on the new wall plate.
  5. Select HVAC System Type: On the back of the new thermostat, select your HVAC system type using the switch (Heat Pump/Dual Fuel or Conventional Gas/Oil/Electric).
  6. Attach Thermostat: Securely attach the thermostat to the installed wall panel.
  7. Restore Power: Turn the power back on at the breaker box or switch.

This video demonstrates the step-by-step process of installing the Provirtec Smart Thermostat, including turning off power, labeling and disconnecting old wiring, installing the new wall plate, selecting the HVAC system type, attaching the thermostat, and restoring power. It specifically covers installation with a C-wire.

4. App Setup and Device Pairing

Download the Prodigytec app from your device's app store. Ensure your phone's Bluetooth is enabled and connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.

  1. Open the Prodigytec app and navigate to the Home page. Tap the "+" icon to add a new device.
  2. Select "Home Appliance" and then "TempMaster Smart Thermostat".
  3. Choose your preferred connection method (Wi-Fi or Bluetooth). For Wi-Fi, select your 2.4GHz network and enter the password.
  4. The app will scan for and connect to your thermostat. Once added successfully, proceed to select your HVAC system type within the app.
  5. To pair the Provirtec smart thermo-hygrometer, tap "Pair Thermo-hygrometer" within the thermostat's app interface. The thermo-hygrometer will transmit data via local Bluetooth for precise temperature control.

This video guides you through adding the Smart Thermostat to the Prodigytec app and pairing the external thermo-hygrometer. It covers enabling Bluetooth and connecting to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network, selecting the device in the app, and completing the pairing process for both the thermostat and the thermo-hygrometer.

Operating Instructions

1. Basic Controls

2. Scene Modes (Sleep/Home/Away)

The thermostat supports three preset scene modes: Sleep, Home, and Away. These modes can be activated directly on the thermostat's touchscreen.

  • Sleep Mode: Intelligently adjusts temperature based on night body temperature for optimal sleep.
  • Home Mode: Maintains your preferred comfort settings when you are at home.
  • Away Mode: Automatically adjusts temperature to save energy when the home is unoccupied.

Configuration: Scene modes and their associated temperature adjustments must be configured via the Prodigytec app.

This video demonstrates how to enable and disable scene modes (Sleep, Away, Home) directly on the thermostat's touchscreen. It further shows how to configure these scene mode parameters, such as temperature settings and actions, within the Prodigytec app.

3. Scheduling

The thermostat offers 7-day programmable scheduling to automate temperature changes throughout the week, optimizing comfort and energy savings.

Activation: You can enable or disable the schedule directly on the thermostat's touchscreen. The schedule icon will appear when enabled.

Configuration: Schedules are created and managed within the Prodigytec app. You can set specific times for actions like turning on/off the HVAC system, setting fan modes, and enabling child lock.

This video illustrates how to enable or disable the programmed schedule on the thermostat's display. It further demonstrates how to set up a new schedule within the Prodigytec app, including defining specific times, days, and actions such as HVAC system control, fan settings, and child lock activation.

4. Smart Monitoring with Thermo-Hygrometer

The included smart thermo-hygrometer provides real-time temperature and humidity monitoring. When paired, it allows for body location-based temperature detection, ensuring precise control and reducing energy waste.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

Wipe the thermostat screen and body with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, which can damage the device.

2. Firmware Updates

It is recommended to use a Wi-Fi connection for firmware upgrades to ensure stability and complete the update process efficiently. Check the Prodigytec app regularly for available updates.

Troubleshooting

  • Thermostat not powering on: Ensure the C-wire is correctly connected and power is restored at the breaker. Verify the 24V AC power source.
  • Wi-Fi connection issues: The thermostat supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only. Ensure your router is broadcasting on this frequency. If Wi-Fi disconnects, the thermostat automatically switches to local Bluetooth control.
  • Thermo-hygrometer not pairing: Ensure the thermostat is Wi-Fi connected before attempting to pair the thermo-hygrometer. The distance between the two devices should not exceed 164 inches/50 meters.
  • Inaccurate temperature readings: Verify the placement of the thermo-hygrometer in your activity area. Ensure it is not exposed to direct sunlight or drafts.
  • Display issues: If the digital numbers are not showing clearly, contact customer support.
  • App control unresponsive: Ensure the thermostat is connected to Wi-Fi and your phone has an active internet connection. Check for app updates.
