Setup
Assembly of the Shark Detect Pro Lift-Away ADV vacuum is straightforward and typically takes only a few minutes.
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging.
- Attach Pod to Nozzle: Align the main vacuum pod with the floor nozzle. Gently push down until it clicks securely into place.
- Insert Wand: Insert the extension wand into the top of the vacuum pod until it locks.
- Attach Handle: Slide the handle onto the top of the extension wand until it clicks.
- Secure Hose: Connect the flexible hose to the back of the vacuum pod and secure it to the hose clip on the wand.
- Store Accessories: Attach the included crevice tool, dusting brush, and pet-multi tool to the on-board storage posts.
- Install Odor Neutralizer Cartridge: Insert the Odor Neutralizer Technology cartridge into its designated slot on the vacuum.

Operating Instructions
The Shark Detect Pro Lift-Away ADV vacuum is designed for versatile cleaning across various surfaces.
Powering On and Mode Selection
- Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet.
- Step on the floor nozzle and tilt the handle back to engage the brushrolls.
- Press the power button located on the handle to turn the vacuum ON.
- Select the appropriate cleaning mode:
- Bare Floor: For hard floors and delicate area rugs. Brushrolls spin slowly.
- Carpet: For carpets and rugs. Brushrolls spin faster to agitate debris.
DuoClean Detect Technology
This vacuum features a two-brushroll system with four integrated sensors that automatically adapt to your cleaning needs:
- Dirt Detect: Senses hidden dirt, debris, and hair embedded deep inside carpets and automatically boosts cleaning power.
- Edge Detect: Automatically increases suction power when cleaning within 2 inches of an edge or wall, providing maximum performance along edges and corners.
- Floor Detect: An ultrasonic sensor detects the floor type and automatically adapts suction level and brushroll speed for optimal performance on all surfaces.
- Direction Detect: Picks up debris in both forward and reverse motions for comprehensive cleaning.

Lift-Away ADV Mode
For versatile cleaning beyond floors, the Lift-Away ADV feature allows you to detach the pod from the nozzle.
- Release Pod: Step on the pedal located on the floor nozzle to easily release the main vacuum pod.
- Handheld Cleaning: Use the detached pod with the hose and desired accessory for deep cleaning upholstery, stairs, or hard-to-reach areas.
- Above-Floor Reach: Detach the wand from the nozzle and use it with the hose and accessories for high-reach cleaning or tight spaces.

Self-Cleaning Brushroll
The self-cleaning brushroll actively removes hair wrap as you vacuum, ensuring consistent performance and reducing maintenance needs.

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your Shark vacuum.
Emptying the Dust Cup
- Detach Dust Cup: Press the dust cup release button, typically located near the top of the dust cup, and lift it away from the vacuum pod.
- Empty Debris: Hold the dust cup over a trash bin and press the bottom release latch to open the bottom flap. Allow debris to fall out.
- Clean Top Filter (if necessary): If needed, press the top release latch to open the top of the dust cup and clear any accumulated debris from the screen.
- Reattach Dust Cup: Close both flaps securely and place the dust cup back onto the vacuum pod until it clicks.
Filter Care
The vacuum features a HEPA filter and pre-motor filters that require regular cleaning.
- Pre-Motor Filters (Foam & Felt): Rinse these filters with water every 3 months, or as needed. Allow to air-dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinserting.
- HEPA Filter: Rinse this filter with water once a year, or as needed. Allow to air-dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinserting. Do not use a brush or abrasive materials to clean the HEPA filter.

Odor Neutralizer Technology Cartridge
The Odor Neutralizer Technology guards against bad odors inside your vacuum. The cartridge should be replaced periodically to maintain effectiveness.
- Refer to the cartridge packaging for replacement frequency.
- To replace, twist the old cartridge counter-clockwise to remove, and insert a new cartridge by twisting clockwise until secure.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your vacuum, consult the following common solutions:
