Setup and Installation

1. Battery Installation

  1. Gently twist the back cover of the smoke alarm counter-clockwise to open it.
  2. Insert the provided CR123A lithium battery into the battery compartment, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
  3. Close the back cover by twisting it clockwise until it clicks securely into place.
  4. The alarm will emit a short beep to indicate successful battery installation and power-on.

2. Choosing an Installation Location

Install smoke alarms in every sleeping room and outside each separate sleeping area. Install alarms on every level of the home, including the basement. Avoid installing in kitchens, bathrooms, or garages where steam, cooking fumes, or exhaust can cause false alarms. Keep alarms at least 10 cm away from walls if mounting on the ceiling, or 10-30 cm from the ceiling if mounting on a wall.

3. Mounting the Smoke Alarm

Two installation methods are available:

Method A: Magnetic Holder (Drill-Free)

  • Ensure the installation surface (ceiling or wall) is clean, dry, and suitable for adhesive pads.
  • Peel off the protective film from one side of the magnetic pad and firmly attach it to the back of the smoke alarm.
  • Peel off the protective film from the other side of the magnetic pad and firmly press the smoke alarm onto the chosen installation surface for at least 30 seconds.

Method B: Screw Kit (Traditional)

  • Mark two drilling points on the ceiling or wall using the mounting bracket as a template.
  • Drill holes at the marked points and insert the provided wall plugs.
  • Attach the mounting bracket to the surface using the provided screws.
  • Align the smoke alarm with the mounting bracket and twist clockwise until it locks securely.

4. Initial Test

After installation, press and hold the "TEST / HUSH" button on the front of the alarm for a few seconds. The alarm should sound a loud, pulsating signal. If it does not, refer to the Troubleshooting section.

Operating Instructions

Normal Operation

In normal operating mode, the smoke alarm does not emit any flashing LED lights, making it suitable for bedrooms and children's rooms without causing disturbance. The device continuously monitors for smoke.

Alarm Condition

When smoke is detected, the alarm will emit a loud 85 dB pulsating sound. If multiple XINDUM networked smoke alarms are installed, all connected alarms will sound simultaneously to ensure widespread alert throughout the property.

Mute / Hush Function

In case of a nuisance alarm (e.g., from cooking fumes), you can temporarily silence the alarm by pressing the "TEST / HUSH" button. The alarm will enter a temporary silence mode for approximately 10 minutes. If the smoke concentration remains high after the silence period, the alarm will reactivate. If the smoke clears, the alarm will reset to normal operation.

Low Battery Warning

When the CR123A battery is nearing the end of its life, the alarm will emit a short chirp approximately every 30-60 seconds. This indicates that the battery needs to be replaced promptly. Refer to the Maintenance section for battery replacement instructions.

Maintenance

Regular Testing

Test your smoke alarm weekly or at least monthly. Press and hold the "TEST / HUSH" button until the alarm sounds. The alarm should sound loudly. If it does not, replace the battery or refer to the Troubleshooting section.

Cleaning

Clean your smoke alarm at least once a month to remove dust and debris. Use a soft brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner to gently vacuum around the alarm's vents. Do not use water, cleaning solutions, or paint on the alarm.

Battery Replacement

The CR123A lithium battery is designed to last for approximately 5 years in standby mode. When the low battery warning (chirping sound) occurs, replace the battery immediately. To replace:

  1. Gently twist the back cover of the smoke alarm counter-clockwise to open it.
  2. Remove the old CR123A battery.
  3. Insert a new CR123A lithium battery, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Close the back cover by twisting it clockwise until it clicks securely into place.
  5. Test the alarm after battery replacement.

Note: Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.
