4. Setup

4.1 Speaker Placement

For optimal sound reproduction, place the studio monitors on a stable surface, ideally at ear level, forming an equilateral triangle with your listening position. Ensure there is adequate space behind the speakers for proper bass port function and cable management.

4.2 Connecting the Speakers

The Audio Array AM-S1 BT system consists of one active speaker (with controls and inputs) and one passive speaker.

  1. Connect the passive speaker to the active speaker using the provided speaker wire. Ensure correct polarity (red to red, black to black) for optimal sound.
  2. Connect the power cable to the active speaker and then to a suitable power outlet (AC 100-240V, 50/60Hz).

4.3 Input Connections

5. Operation

5.1 Power On/Off and Volume Control

The multifunction knob on the front of the active speaker controls power, volume, and mode selection.

  • Power On/Off: Long press the multifunction knob to turn the speakers on or off.
  • Volume Adjustment: Rotate the multifunction knob clockwise to increase volume and counter-clockwise to decrease volume.

5.2 Input Mode Selection

Single tap the multifunction knob to cycle through available input modes (Bluetooth, HDMI, USB-C, Aux, TRS, RCA). The LED indicator will change color or pattern to indicate the active mode.

5.3 Bluetooth Pairing

  1. Ensure the speakers are powered on and in Bluetooth mode. The Bluetooth indicator light will typically blink.
  2. On your device (smartphone, tablet, computer), enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  3. Select "Audio Array AM-S1 BT" from the list.
  4. Once paired, the Bluetooth indicator light will become solid.

5.4 EQ Controls and Listening Modes

The AM-S1 BT features acoustic tuning controls on the rear panel and dedicated listening modes.

  • Treble & Bass Adjustment: Use the dedicated knobs on the rear panel to adjust the high and low frequencies (-6dB to +6dB) to suit your environment or preference.
  • Music Mode / Monitor Mode: The speakers offer two listening modes. Single tap the "MODE" button (or press the multifunction knob, depending on model revision) to switch between Music mode (Red LED) and Monitor mode (Blue LED).
    • Monitor Mode: Provides a flat, accurate frequency response suitable for audio mixing and critical listening.
    • Music Mode: Enhances bass and treble for a more engaging listening experience, ideal for casual music playback.

6. Maintenance
