3. Key Features

  • Compact and Lightweight Design: Measuring 34x59x34 mm and weighing only 61g, the dash cam is designed for discreet installation in any vehicle.
  • Integrated G-Sensor: Automatically detects impacts and saves critical video footage, protecting it from accidental overwriting. This feature ensures reliable recording during both driving and parking.
  • Integrated GPS: Records real-time position and speed data, providing detailed information about your routes. This is useful for monitoring trips and having precise references when needed.
  • Wi-Fi Connectivity: Allows easy access to recorded videos directly from your smartphone via the 'Dashcam Player' application, eliminating the need to remove the memory card.
  • Automatic Loop Recording: Continuously records video and audio, overwriting the oldest files when the memory card is full, ensuring continuous protection.

4. Setup

4.1 Inserting the MicroSD Card

  1. Ensure the dash cam is powered off.
  2. Locate the MicroSD card slot on the side of the device.
  3. Insert a compatible MicroSD card (Class 10 or higher, up to 128GB recommended) into the slot until it clicks into place.

4.2 Mounting the Dash Cam

  1. Choose an optimal location on your windshield, typically behind the rearview mirror, where the camera's view is unobstructed and it does not interfere with your driving visibility.
  2. Clean the chosen area on the windshield thoroughly to ensure proper adhesion.
  3. Attach the adhesive mount to the dash cam unit.
  4. Remove the protective film from the adhesive pad on the mount and firmly press it onto the cleaned windshield area for at least 30 seconds.
  5. Adjust the camera lens to ensure it captures the road ahead correctly.

4.3 Connecting Power

  1. Connect the vehicle power cable to the USB-C port on the dash cam.
  2. Plug the other end of the power cable (USB-A) into your vehicle's 12V power outlet (cigarette lighter socket) using the provided USB adapter.
  3. Route the cable neatly along the windshield and dashboard edges to avoid obstructing your view or interfering with vehicle controls.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

The dash cam will automatically power on and begin recording when your vehicle's ignition is turned on and power is supplied. It will automatically power off when the ignition is turned off.

5.2 Recording Modes

  • Loop Recording: The camera continuously records video in short segments (e.g., 1, 3, or 5 minutes). When the memory card is full, the oldest unprotected files are automatically overwritten.
  • G-Sensor Event Recording: In the event of a sudden impact or collision, the integrated G-sensor will detect the event and automatically lock the current video segment, preventing it from being overwritten by loop recording. These files are stored in a separate 'Event' folder on the MicroSD card.

5.3 GPS Functionality

The integrated GPS module records your vehicle's speed and location data along with the video footage. This data can be viewed using the dedicated 'Dashcam Player' application on your smartphone or compatible PC software.

5.4 Wi-Fi Connection and Smartphone App

  1. Download the 'Dashcam Player' app from your smartphone's app store (iOS or Android).
  2. Power on the dash cam.
  3. On your smartphone, go to Wi-Fi settings and connect to the dash cam's Wi-Fi network (SSID typically starts with 'Midland_SG_Mini' followed by a series of characters). The default password can usually be found in the app or the camera's settings.
  4. Open the 'Dashcam Player' app. You can now view live footage, browse recorded videos, download files to your phone, and adjust camera settings.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning the Lens: Regularly clean the camera lens with a soft, lint-free cloth to ensure clear video quality. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
  • Formatting the MicroSD Card: It is recommended to format the MicroSD card periodically (e.g., once a month) to maintain optimal performance and prevent data corruption. This can usually be done through the smartphone app or by removing the card and formatting it on a computer. Warning: Formatting will erase all data on the card. Back up important files before formatting.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the Midland website or the 'Dashcam Player' app periodically for available firmware updates. Keeping your dash cam's firmware up-to-date can improve performance and add new features.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Camera not powering on: Ensure the power cable is securely connected to both the dash cam and the vehicle's power outlet. Check if the vehicle's 12V outlet is functioning.
  • Recording errors or corrupted files: Format the MicroSD card. If the issue persists, try a different, high-quality MicroSD card (Class 10 or higher).
  • Wi-Fi connection issues: Ensure the dash cam is powered on. Restart both the dash cam and your smartphone. Verify you are connecting to the correct Wi-Fi network and entering the correct password.
  • GPS not recording data: Ensure the dash cam has a clear view of the sky to receive GPS signals. It may take a few minutes for the GPS to acquire a signal after powering on.
  • Poor video quality: Clean the camera lens. Ensure the protective film has been removed from the lens. Check camera settings via the app to ensure desired resolution is selected.
