3. Setup
3.1. Charging the Battery
- Insert the supplied Lithium-Ion battery into the camera.
- Connect the camera to the AC charging adapter using the USB cable.
- Plug the AC charging adapter into a power outlet. The charging indicator light will illuminate.
- Charging is complete when the indicator light turns off.
3.2. Inserting a Memory Card
The camera uses SD memory cards. Ensure the camera is turned off before inserting or removing a memory card.
- Open the memory card slot cover, typically located on the side or bottom of the camera.
- Insert the SD card into the slot with the label facing the correct direction (usually towards the front of the camera) until it clicks into place.
- Close the memory card slot cover securely.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Powering On/Off
Press the ON/OFF button located on the top of the camera to power it on or off.

4.2. Basic Photography
To take a photo, select a shooting mode using the mode dial (e.g., Auto mode for general use). Frame your shot using the electronic viewfinder or the rotating LCD screen, then press the shutter button halfway to focus and fully to capture the image.

Observe the incredible range of the 125x optical zoom, from wide-angle to extreme telephoto:
24mm: Wide-angle view of a rocky landscape with trees.
50mm: Slightly zoomed-in view of the same landscape.
1000mm: A heron is now clearly visible in the distance.
2000mm: The heron fills more of the frame, showing more detail.
3000mm: Close-up of the heron, revealing fine feather details.
4.4. Video Recording
The COOLPIX P1100 supports 4K Ultra HD video recording (2160p) in H.264/MP4/MPEG-4 format. To start recording, switch to video mode (usually indicated by a movie camera icon on the mode dial) and press the dedicated movie record button.
