3.1 Indoor Unit Installation
- Mounting Plate Placement: Use the provided cardboard template to mark the position for the indoor unit's mounting plate on the wall. Ensure adequate clearance: approximately 8 inches from the ceiling and 14 inches from adjacent walls. Use a level to ensure proper alignment.
- Drilling Holes: Drill pilot holes for the mounting plate screws. For brick or concrete walls, use appropriate masonry drill bits and anchors. For drywall, locate studs or use heavy-duty drywall anchors rated for the unit's weight.
- Secure Mounting Plate: Attach the mounting plate securely to the wall using the appropriate screws.
- Drill Conduit Hole: Drill a large hole (typically 2.5-3 inches in diameter) through the wall for the refrigerant lines, drain hose, and electrical cables. Ensure this hole is angled slightly downwards towards the exterior to facilitate drainage.
- Electrical Wiring (Indoor Unit): Open the front panel of the indoor unit. Locate the electrical terminal block. Connect the power wires from the outdoor unit to the corresponding terminals (L, N, 1, 2, 3, Ground) as indicated in the wiring diagram. Secure the wires with the cable clamp.
- Wrap Lines: Bundle the refrigerant lines, electrical cable, and drain hose together using insulation tape. This protects them and facilitates passage through the wall.
- Mount Indoor Unit: Carefully feed the bundled lines through the wall hole. Lift the indoor unit and hook it onto the top of the mounting plate, then gently push the bottom until it snaps into place. Ensure the unit is level and securely attached.
3.2 Outdoor Unit Placement
- Site Selection: Choose a suitable, level location for the outdoor unit. Ensure at least 12 inches of clearance from the back of the unit to any wall and 20 inches on either side for proper airflow and maintenance.
- Install Rubber Feet: Attach the provided rubber feet to the base of the outdoor unit. These help reduce vibration and noise.
- Electrical Wiring (Outdoor Unit): Open the wiring cover on the outdoor unit. Connect the electrical wires from the indoor unit and the main power supply to the corresponding terminals (L, N, 1, 2, 3, Ground) as per the wiring diagram. Use liquid-tight conduit for the main power supply for safety and weather protection.
- Connect Refrigerant Lines: Carefully bend the pre-charged refrigerant lines from the indoor unit to align with the outdoor unit's service ports. Remove protective caps and hand-tighten the flare nuts. Use two wrenches to tighten them to the specified torque.
- Connect Drain Hose: Connect the outdoor unit's drain hose to the designated port.
3.3 System Commissioning
- Vacuum the System: Connect a vacuum pump and gauge set to the low-pressure service port. Run the vacuum pump for at least 15 minutes to remove air and moisture from the refrigerant lines. Close the low-pressure port and monitor the gauge for at least 15 minutes to ensure no leaks are present (the reading should remain at -0.1 MPa).
- Release Refrigerant: If the system holds a vacuum, release a small amount of refrigerant into the lines for a leak check. Open the low-pressure valve for 5 seconds, then close it. Apply soapy water to all connections; if bubbles appear, there is a leak that needs to be addressed.
- Fully Open Valves: If no leaks are detected, fully open both the low and high-pressure valves to release the refrigerant into the system. Replace all protective caps.
- Power On: Turn on the dedicated 20-amp circuit breaker in your electrical panel. Your AC unit is now ready for operation.
