Setup

1. Power Supply (Batteries)

The DR-05XP operates on two AA alkaline batteries. Ensure batteries are inserted correctly according to polarity markings.

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit.
  2. Slide the cover open.
  3. Insert two AA batteries, matching the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals as indicated.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

The unit can also be powered via its USB-C port using an appropriate power adapter (not included).

2. Inserting a Micro SD Card

A Micro SD card (up to 512 GB, not included) is required for recording and storing audio files.

  1. Locate the Micro SD card slot on the side of the DR-05XP.
  2. Insert the Micro SD card with the contacts facing down until it clicks into place.
  3. To remove, gently push the card until it springs out.

Operating Instructions

1. Controls Overview

The DR-05XP features an intuitive layout of buttons and an LCD screen for navigation and control.

2. Recording Audio

The DR-05XP supports various recording formats and quality settings.

  1. Select Recording Mode: Press the MENU button, navigate to "REC SETTING", and choose your desired format (e.g., WAV 32bit Float) and sample rate.
  2. Adjust Input Level: Use the +/- buttons on the navigation pad to adjust the recording input level. Monitor the level meter on the LCD screen to avoid clipping (PEAK indicator).
  3. Start Recording: Press the RECORD button once to enter record-pause mode. The REC indicator will flash. Press RECORD again to begin recording. The REC indicator will light steadily.
  4. Stop Recording: Press the STOP button (square button below POWER/HOME) to stop recording.

4. USB-C Audio Interface Functionality

The DR-05XP can function as a 2-in/2-out USB-C audio interface for direct recording to a computer (Mac or PC).

  1. Connect the DR-05XP to your computer using a USB-C cable.
  2. On the DR-05XP, select "Audio Interface" mode when prompted.
  3. Your computer should recognize the DR-05XP as an audio input/output device.
  4. Configure your recording software to use the DR-05XP as its audio interface.
