Introduction
The TASCAM DR-05XP is a portable handheld field recorder designed for high-quality audio capture. Setup
1. Power Supply (Batteries)
The DR-05XP operates on two AA alkaline batteries. Ensure batteries are inserted correctly according to polarity markings.
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit.
- Slide the cover open.
- Insert two AA batteries, matching the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals as indicated.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.

2. Inserting a Micro SD Card

- Locate the Micro SD card slot on the side of the DR-05XP.
- Insert the Micro SD card with the contacts facing down until it clicks into place.
- To remove, gently push the card until it springs out.

3. Powering On/Off
- To power on, press and hold the POWER/HOME button until the display illuminates.
- To power off, press and hold the POWER/HOME button until the unit shuts down.

- Press the PLAY button (center of navigation pad) to start playback.
- Use the REWIND and FAST FORWARD buttons to navigate through the file.
- Press the STOP button to stop playback.
- The built-in monaural speaker allows for quick verification of recordings without headphones.
4. USB-C Audio Interface Functionality
The DR-05XP can function as a 2-in/2-out USB-C audio interface for direct recording to a computer (Mac or PC).
- Connect the DR-05XP to your computer using a USB-C cable.
- On the DR-05XP, select "Audio Interface" mode when prompted.
