4. Setup

4.1. Receiver Installation and Binding (PNP Version)

As a Plug-N-Play (PNP) version, the GEPRC Vapor-X5 O4 Pro does not include a pre-installed receiver. You will need to install a compatible receiver (e.g., GEPRC ELRS24 or TBS Nano RX) and bind it with your remote controller. Refer to your chosen receiver's manual for specific installation and binding instructions.

4.2. Camera and VTX Module Installation

The O4 Pro Camera and VTX module require careful installation to ensure optimal performance and vibration dampening. Follow these general steps, referring to the provided video for visual guidance:

  1. Insert the O4 camera into its camera bracket, ensuring the connector faces the canopy.
  2. Install the shock-absorbing balls into the camera bracket slots.
  3. Place the camera and bracket assembly into the canopy, aligning the holes. Secure with M2*4 flat head socket cap screws.
  4. Install the VTX shock absorption module. Insert the 6.6mm shock-absorbing balls into the module's holes, ensuring the higher end faces down.
  5. Connect the 6Pin connector cable to the O4 VTX module and the VTX antenna to its connector.
  6. Place the O4 VTX module onto the flight controller, aligning the holes with the flight control unit.
  7. Tighten the forward shock-absorbing ball of the O4 VTX module with an M1.4*10*4 Phillips flat washer head tapping screw.
  8. Place the canopy onto the O4 VTX module, ensuring the camera faces forward and the canopy holes align with the shock-absorbing balls.
  9. Pass the VTX antenna through the rear hole of the canopy.
  10. Tighten the canopy with three M1.4*10*4 Phillips flat washer head tapping screws.
  11. Replace the camera cable using tweezers, ensuring it is suspended to reduce vibration and prevent touching the canopy.

5.3. GPS Functionality

The integrated GEP-M10 GPS module provides enhanced stability and safety features. Ensure GPS lock is achieved before takeoff. Key GPS features include:

It is mandatory to configure and test GPS failsafe settings in your flight controller software (e.g., Betaflight) to ensure safe operation in case of signal loss.

5.4. Video Recording and Photography

The O4 Pro Camera captures high-definition video and still images. Refer to your FPV system's documentation for instructions on how to start/stop recording and capture photos. The drone features 46GB of internal storage for recorded footage.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning

Regularly clean your drone to remove dust, dirt, and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for the frame and components. For the camera lens, use a specialized lens cleaning cloth and solution.

6.2. Propeller Replacement

Inspect propellers for cracks, bends, or chips before each flight. Damaged propellers can lead to unstable flight and potential crashes. To replace:

  1. Power off the drone and remove the battery.
  2. Carefully remove the damaged propeller by unscrewing the M5 flange nut.
  3. Install a new GEMFAN 5136 propeller, ensuring it is oriented correctly (clockwise or counter-clockwise as indicated on the motor/propeller).
  4. Secure with the M5 flange nut, ensuring it is tight but not overtightened.

6.3. Battery Care

6.4. Firmware Updates

Periodically check the GEPRC official website for firmware updates for your drone's flight controller (GEP-F722-HD v2) and O4 Air Unit Pro. Keeping firmware updated ensures optimal performance, new features, and bug fixes.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Drone does not power on.Battery not connected, battery depleted, faulty power cable.Ensure battery is fully charged and correctly connected. Check XT60 connector for damage.
Loss of video signal in FPV goggles.VTX/antenna issue, interference, out of range.Check VTX antenna connection. Ensure you are within operating range. Avoid areas with high interference.
Unstable flight or drifting.Damaged propellers, uncalibrated sensors, strong winds.Inspect and replace damaged propellers. Calibrate accelerometers/gyroscopes in Betaflight. Avoid flying in strong winds.
GPS not locking.Poor satellite visibility, interference, GPS module issue.Ensure drone has a clear view of the sky. Avoid flying near tall buildings or dense foliage. Check GPS module connection.
