Important Safety Instructions
Always follow basic safety precautions when using electrical appliances to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:
- Read all instructions.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
- To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or toaster in water or other liquid.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
- Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
- The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
- Do not use outdoors.
- Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
- Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
- Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
- Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to "off", then remove plug from wall outlet.
- Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
- Oversize foods, metal foil packages, or utensils must not be inserted in a toaster as they may create a risk of fire or electric shock.
- A fire may occur if toasters are covered or touching flammable material, including curtains, draperies, walls, and the like, when in operation.
- Do not attempt to dislodge food when toaster is plugged in.
- To avoid possibility of fire, do not leave toaster unattended during use.
- Do not operate without the crumb tray in place.

Setup and First Use
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the toaster and all packaging materials. Retain packaging for storage or future transport.
- Placement: Place the toaster on a stable, heat-resistant, non-flammable surface, away from curtains or other flammable materials. Ensure adequate ventilation around the appliance.
- Power Connection: Unwind the power cord from the cord storage area under the base. Plug the toaster into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet.
- Initial Burn-off: Before toasting food for the first time, operate the toaster without bread for a few minutes on the highest shade setting (6). This will burn off any manufacturing residues and eliminate odors. A slight smoke or odor is normal during this process. Ensure the area is well-ventilated.
Operating Instructions
Your Salton Touchscreen Toaster offers a variety of settings for perfect toasting.
Basic Toasting
- Power On: Plug in the toaster. The touchscreen display will illuminate. If not, touch the Power icon (
) on the touchscreen. - Insert Bread: Place up to two slices of bread into the toasting slots. The self-adjusting slots will center the bread for even toasting.
- Select Shade Setting: On the touchscreen, choose your desired shade setting from 1 (lightest) to 6 (darkest). The selected shade will be highlighted.
- Lower Lever: Push the control lever down until it locks into place. The digital countdown timer will begin, indicating the remaining toasting time.
- Completion: When toasting is complete, the bread will automatically pop up.

Special Functions
The toaster features several pre-programmed functions accessible via the touchscreen:
- Defrost: For frozen bread. Select the Defrost icon (
) before lowering the lever. The toaster will automatically adjust the toasting time. - Reheat: To warm up already toasted bread without further browning. Select the Reheat icon (
) before lowering the lever. - Single Slice: Ensures even toasting on both sides when toasting only one slice. Select the Single Slice icon (
) before lowering the lever. - Memory: Save your preferred shade setting for quick access. After selecting a shade, touch and hold the Memory icon (
) until it confirms. To use, simply touch the Memory icon before lowering the lever. - Cancel: To stop the toasting cycle at any time, touch the Cancel icon (
). The bread will pop up.
Toast Options (Food Type Selection)
Optimize toasting for specific food types by selecting the corresponding icon at the bottom of the touchscreen:
- Bread: Standard bread slices.
- Bagel: Toasts the cut side of bagels while gently warming the crust side.
- English Muffin: Optimized for English muffins.
- Waffle: For frozen or fresh waffles.
- Pastry: For toaster pastries.
Select the desired food type icon, then choose your shade setting, and lower the lever.
Care and Maintenance
Proper care ensures the longevity and performance of your toaster.
- Always Unplug: Before cleaning, always unplug the toaster from the electrical outlet and allow it to cool completely.
- Crumb Tray Cleaning:
- Pull out the removable crumb tray from the back of the toaster.
- Discard crumbs. Wipe the tray with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
- Slide the crumb tray back into place until it locks.
- Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the toaster with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or metal scouring pads, as they may scratch the surface.
- Never Immerse: Never immerse the toaster, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
- Storage: When not in use, ensure the toaster is clean and dry. You can wrap the cord around the cord storage area under the base. Store in a cool, dry place.
Troubleshooting
